    Have not seen that NGC-58 01-S before. Hope buyer can post some better pics. He MAY have made the buy of the decade, IMO.

    Yes he may have indeed .. the buyer came forward in a US Coin forum post

    I was looking through Heritage archives and the only AU 1901-S Quarters I found were a PC55 from 2009 - sold for $33k PCGS 55
    And an NGC 55 which sold in 2006 for $29,990 NGC 55

    They are obviously the same coin .. not just the spot but up at the motto to the left of We is the give away (the spot by the eye is bigger on the PCGS coin though which seems odd to me)

    Both those look like good deals now too eh?

    Scott - Saw that 55 in hand. Was not a good buy, IMO, price was low for a reason.

    Justin - We agree.

    Also, another PCGS-55, which used to be MFH's, was also in an NGC-55 holder, and has been floating around, most recently with Jack Beymer since Mike traded it in.

    Scott, Thanks for providing that link. Very interesting to read everyone's opinion. I could not pass judgement based on poor photos. Will agree that description was long winded. I'm hoping the buyer gets a nice original coin, and I hope we all get to see some high quality pix.

    I agree with Lenny, it's hard to pass judgment on the AU58 01-S with such poor photos. But if genuine, appears to be a decent example at a good price.

    Just recd Beymer's mailing. Still has Mike's old 55 01-S listed at $49,560. Also has an NGC-30 listed at $32,900, that I saw in hand in April 2012. PM if you want my opinion.

    Mike - You're correct. I bought that F-12 from Jim D, years ago. It now belongs to a forum member, who can identify himself, if he chooses.

    The 01-s In fine , I had the privledge of being offered the coin back from Vern, so I took him up on the offer. Everyone really liked it back then, and apparently still does, so do I. I would love to get a higher graded one like Vern or Glenn's, but would only buy a high quality for the grade piece if I had to give up the fine.

    The vg-10 you posted looks familiar, you did not by chance get this from steve years ago did you, I had one just like it, and traded into him against the fine way back when. Even the serial # sounds familiar. I am going to go back and check my files and see if I can find the vg-10 slab #.


    I was talking with Mike H about the 01-s 55 that JB has, a friend of mine was looking at the coin, but sometimes he does good at picking quality, and other times he doesn't. Hell have to make that choice on whether to pursue it or not??

    It's not to knock the F-12, but I like the VG-10 better. If I ever see that coin, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. (If I qualify for the loan)

    Yes, Glenn's looks a lot better than the photo in hand. The photo appears to make it look a little washed out which It isn't if I recall, but I agree I like your coin better if I were offerd both too choose from.

    Regarding the 93-O, I was on the fence when I bought it. Price was great but I just kept seeing the bag mark. It's really grown on me since, and I've gotten quite a few compliments on it. Thanks!
