I would like to thank my friends for assisting me in securing, what I consider, a great coin at this year's ANA. This piece will soon be on the way to our hosts for a regrade.
In a few days I will unleash my mediocre images on our group. Hopefully, they will be decent.
I wondered who was bidding crazy against me on that 06 quarter, but I don't need to wonder any longer. Great coin and very tough to find in that grade. The pop reports are wrong on this one.
JW, That date was a nemesis, and I don't think I bid too crazy on it. There was a 58 Gold CAC that just sold for like 650. Without reopening the CAC debate, I'd say that was an aggressive purchase.
I know at least 5 collectors looking for a nice 06. I'm curious to see what a good 58 would go for on Heritage. Personally, I'll take a set of 55s at half the price if a 58 set.
Vern and nice stuff are like peanut butter and jelly
Freshly graded - PCGS 58/CAC - now a pop 5 coin. So this coin lists for $350 in the PCGS price guide .. I won't reveal how many multiples it actually cost .. How come the price guide gets easily swayed by auction results on most coins but this coin still shows $350 price guide although the recent Heritage Auction brought $2550 and one in 1911 brought $1100 .. Not saying it should be $2500 or $2k but it should be at least the $1100 one sold for in 2011 .. the price was not only supported two years later it was crushed to smitherines
There has been some awesome coins posted since I lost posted in this thread. You quarter guys are killing it. Making these things seem easy to find. A special nod to Vern's 01-O and Lablman's 09-O. Simply amazing coins. Nice 07-S, SAM.
Edit: The only barber I bought for over a month was from Glenn. By the way, Glenn, I am impressed with the photography. The pics match this coin well.
Mike, Thanks for compliments on 10-D. This was one of six coins that I recently cracked out and submitted to Pcgs instead of trying to cross. I wanted unbiased grading. I think this might have been the only coin that Pcgs and NGC agreed on at 58. Notably, the coin that Vern and I agreed was the best coin in the lot, the 93-O, came back cleaned. (Pictured here previously) Also, the 16-D/D was in an NGC 45 holder. Pcgs graded it 55. The other coins varied by one grade level either way.
I'm probably going to trade one of the 10-D 58s I have. I know it's a tough date in this grade, but I'm looking for some other dates that are slightly more elusive for me. Also have an extra 00-S and 07-D in 58. Right now its all speculation.
Justin, Congrats again on your 94-O and 50-O. Keep on rolling!
Vern, Love the 01-O. And thanks for the goodies!
Scott, again, awesome looking 07-S, one I'd be proud to call my own.
Mark, Thanks for sharing your pix. Personally, I like seeing all different kinds of Barbers in any grade. Everyone has different tastes and targets. Nothing special for one guy is awesome keeper for another guy. Keep on posting.
Mike, I hate the term "monster rainbow" but I can't think of a better way to describe your dime collection!
Scott, I've got to say that I don't know anyone who can sniff out coins like you do!
Walt, You out there? How about showing of your new 93-S?
Nice coins folks - 1902-O is an under rated date - one of those hard to find attractive; dipped ones seem to be available - that one has a very attractive tone to it - sweet coin Doug!
A recent purchase of a half dollar of a date I have found exactly zero in grades of XF or AU, that I would not call cleaned, slabbed or not is the 1898-S.. I am sure some exist, I just haven't seen one yet .. This 98-S has extremely wholesome skin, the toning is magnificent and the strike is full with full detail. The coin is gorgeous and well worth the premium I paid. I will have someone take better photos for me ... This coin is graded PCGS AU55. Along with this coin I purchased his 1899-S AU58 which I will likely not try and post - I will leave for the more experienced. While I very much love the look of the 99-S, this 1898-S is easily the amazing coin of the two.

awesome pick up
Always looking for tougher PSA 10's of Nolan Arenado, Alex Bregman, Mookie Betts, Francisco Lindor, and Mike Trout.
Great dimes!

Scott - Great looking 94-S, congrats.
Mike - More wonderful dimes, hard to pick a fav but I'll go with the 05-O.
Craig - Saw the 09-O in 63 at ANA. A really good looking coin, congrats.

Still not convinced that a 1906 rattler 58 with a gold bean is worth that much. Or that gold beans are the final word on under-graded coins.

Vern, please don't tell me you have an 01-O grading set with coins that nice!
Mike, very nice 15-D. I also like that 01P dime off center. Seems the dimes came with more errors than the 25c & 50c.
Lenny, I like the 10-D!
Mark, thanks for posting your 01. You should post some of your others. I'd like to see more of that 15-D you posted ATS.
Trying to keep up with this thread is a lot of work!
