couple of thoughts, and i cant decide which one is more difficult to comprehend...

how does a team rack up 500+ yards of offense and score 3 points? that seems mathematically freaking impossible. the Bucs must have been historically inept in the red zone yesterday.

how does Marvin Lewis still have a job? do you guys realize he has been Cincinnati's HC for 15 years and hasn't won a single playoff game? did Jerry Jones buy the Bengals without me knowing about it?

Watched the whole Wash/TB tilt. Never saw a game like this. Just could not believe the way it played out for the Bucs. It was like a pitcher who throws a no hitter, but still loses the game 1-0.

Bell's tenure with Pittsburgh is assuredly over as a franchise tag again next season is unlikely, imo. He will then become a FA and we'll see if this strategy pays off or not when he signs a huge deal somewhere next season. I don't think the year off will reallly affect him. One year of age will pale in comparison to avoiding the punishment of carrying the ball 400 times this season. He is an elite player and though I understand why Pittsburgh fans are not happy with him right now, the career of a RB in the NFL is pretty brief as the vast majority of guys get worn out very quickly and if anything Bell has probably preserved himself by sitting out this season. Whether he recoups the 14 million dollars in lost salary or not is another story.

Looks like the Bears have probably found their franchise QB in Trubisky. I expect him to do well against
the Vikings tomorrow. Texans and Chiefs also obviously have found their guy at QB.
Mayfield should keep improving with Browns, had a great game last week.
Jets maybe still not sure, too early to tell with Darnold.
Don't know about the guy in Arizona, think his name is Josh Rosen, played well against the Chiefs
and the announcers had good things to say about him but stats aren't too impressive at this point.

Edited- Forgot about Goff for the Rams. Only 24 years old, definitely Mr. Franchise for LA, doesn't
get talked about much because Todd Gurley is so good.

Chicago is 3-0 since you donned a Brady jersey, I wouldn't change a thing.

Don't know how Rosen will wind up but the talent level at AZ is far lower than that at KC even with David Johnson in the backfield. Always tough, too, to throw a rookie QB into the fire right from the start. I think KC was wise to let Mahomes observe from the sidelines for a full season before taking the reins.

Grote- I think you're right about Mahomes. Patrick and his father have been very outspoken about
how much Alex Smith helped the kid last year knowing that he would be his replacement.
Hope Alex does well in Washington and they hold on to win their division.

Alex is a quality guy . That year of watching probably was a huge help to Mahomes.

Agreed that a rookie being on the sidelines for a year is beneficial but looking at Mayfield and the experience he is getting from playing will help too, the difference is if a rookie is being inserted in a capable offense and not running for his life as soon as he gets the ball, if I’m the Jets I’d shut down Darnold, in his situation I think it’s doing more harm than good to keep him in while they are getting throttled

  • DarinDarin Posts: 7,087 ✭✭✭✭✭

Wonder if the Broncos can manage to look anything like a team that remotely resembles a
competent NFL team and give the Chargers a run for their money? My guess is no, but will
be watching anyway because if they do lose and don't help the Chiefs it will still be sweet seeing
them go to 3-8 or whatever their record will be.

The Tampa Bay Turkeys are leading the league in turnovers. Rooting for this team is as satisfying as trying to chew a mouthful of beef jerky without teeth.

The Turkeys just scored a touchdown...by fumbling the ball into the end zone and pouncing on it.

Doug “Moron”, coach of the Jags blew this game, can’t run the ball straight ahead for 4 drives with 9 Steelers near the line of scrimmage. 16-0 lead and dominating near the end of the 3rd quarter.

The only time I feel comfortable placing a large wager on a game is when Steve declares a result to be "a stone cold mortal lock." Then I back up the truck.

Hopefully you didn't "back up the truck" on the Jets this season or the Mets in the past baseball season. You might be right now living in a van down by the Hudson River, that has no engine or tires. LOL

I remember that like it was yesterday. I had never seen that before and thought WTF was that. I don't think I have seen it sense.

I also remember Miami pulling a fake spike and then throwing a TD with time running out in the half on a MNF game.

And then there was the FG at NE........someone came out with a snowblower and cleared the field for the kicker. Shula was PI$$ED!!

In 1962 George Blanda was the starting QB for Houston.
He led them to a great 11-3 record by throwing for 2,810 yards and 27 TD passes.
Pretty good numbers, not surprising their record was so good. But wait a minute.
He threw 42 interceptions in those 14 games, which averages out to exactly 3 per game.
That is the most picks any QB has thrown in one season.
How did they win 11 games with the QB getting picked off so often? LOL.
