I'm certainly not YOUR definition of an conservative. That would be awful. Opposition to change or innovation?? Who would want to labeled as that? I guess you would have been against fire or the light bulb.

Paine was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, he penned THE two most influential pamphlets at the start of the American Revolution. He inspired the rebels in 1776 to declare independence from Britain. That's a true patriot. My guess is Ned Nugent would have been a taxidermist or hunted squirrels and Sean Hannity would have been hiding underneath his bed.

    mark

So, you stand for some of our founding fathers that were around hundreds of yrs ago. Paine was a Christian hater, so it's no surprise you like him. Liberals love to hate Christianity.
That's fine, but who do you stand for who' s with us today? Just a wild guess probably Bernie the clown? Lol

    Are you ok?

Of course I stand with some of our founding fathers.

Without Thomas Paine there may not be a United States. He lit one of the fuses that started the revolution. Without Ted Nugent there is no Cat Scratch Fever.

I'm a Catholic. Do you have something against that too? Or is that not Christian enough for you? My wife is Jewish. Do you have a problem with that? The United States is just not for Christians.

I don't understand how baseball gets banned and we get you. Not my call but geez.

Nugent has 3 million Facebook followers. Paine had six people at his funeral. Someone probably complained about baseball. I don't know? I am a conservative, so I am against banning because I believe in free speech.

No I have nothing against Catholics. Hannity is Catholic.

I have intentionally provided little to no substance in this thread, but I'll finally offer up a dose of gravity before I permanently eject.

My maternal grandfather is 92-years-old and a Purple Heart recipient from World War II. His eyesight is poor, his hearing is poor, but his mind is still very sound. I got him an iPad last Christmas and I think he has watched every pitch of every Astros game this season on it. Such a hoot.

I asked him not too long ago what he thought about this particular topic (he was familiar), and what he said was pretty profound for someone at such an advanced age. Indelible excerpts:

"It hurts my feelings. My life wasn't good growing up. I didn't have an opportunity to go to college, but I was still determined to make a name for myself. I joined the Marines and the next thing I knew, I was in combat as a teenager. Some of my very best friends died within feet of me. I have woken up with survivor guilt many times."

"I had no idea at the time that I was being shot for men who would later make a lot of money playing a sport I knew little about back then. So if I had to do it all over again for that reason alone, I wouldn't hesitate because that's a very good thing.
I guess I just wish they would take that time to think about different things. I find it hard to believe that your mind can be in the right place when you're on one knee and making it a point to let everyone watching know how unhappy you are with certain aspects of our country. The United States has never been perfect. Never has been, never will be. But all I will say is this: If we hadn't been around back then, there's a good chance they would be on both knees today."

Food for thought, and I'm outtie.

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

It always gives me goosebumps reading what I just read from an old WW2 veteran- for sure our greatest generation btw. I feel genuine sadness for these guys that are still around or that have past seeing some of the craziness of society nowadays, to be fair life was way simpler back when they were young but still some of the things these guys saw or see in today's age must really bother them deep down. Either way I just wanted to comment on this last post regarding your Grandfather, god bless him and thank him for his service.
