da Trifacta is in!!! Not only 3 silver dimes in 3 days, todays, but 1948S found today covers all 3 decades of the Rosie's in silver!
Raining here in CA, let it pour more silver!!!
Today's haul:
First finds in a long time, but definitely the largest coin I have ever found in the bin. I am assuming someone thought it might pick it up as a half dollar??? The Roosie is a 21-P.
Big day for me. Publix Coinstar had a handful of change in it including 1961 and 1964 quarters. As i pulled out the handful I heard the sound of silver.
Was rewarded with 57 cents(no silver) today when dumping in some Kennedy halves.
I had one Kennedy that just kept getting rejected so I put it back into my coin jug for a future try.
Well guess who left the jug in the shopping cart when loading my groceries into the car?😫
So I am only plus 7 cents for the day.
Well, the drought is broken... Yesterday, one quarter, three Roosevelt dimes... The quarter is a super dryer coin.... That's ok though... Cheers, RickO
A few weeks ago I found in the Coinstar reject bin at a local Safeway a Canadian dime and a 1964D Roosevelt dime. First silver strike in a long, long time.
i would have a hard time believing it also, 3 silver dimes in 2 days. Must be people cashing in for Super Bowl beer & chips?!?
This time a 1963D. @ricko and no FB! again... lol
Finally
13 cent. ☑️
All recently released ( last 15-20 years).
Been awhile and I’m thinking there must be competition for our rural machine.
Free money. This has been a pretty good last 30 days. A free $25 roll of presidential dollars ( thanks Jack at RCTV )
And some coinstar donations. This machine tends to kick out coins with impunity.
I still have never found any silver in a CoinStar.
But I did come up with a small group with odd items recently.
(4) ordinary (non-silver) Roosevelt Dimes (one with a very odd mechanical wear pattern).
(1) 2020-D "Bat" quarter.
(3) older Jefferson Nickels - 1939-[P], 1940-S, 1947-D.
(3) modern Japanese coins of no significance.
(1) 1991-M Russia Rouble Government Bank issue (a 1-year type from the last year of the Soviet Union, Krause Y # 293).
(1) Spain 1957-63 5 Pesetas (this is actually a key date coin, but only has value in higher grade than this one).
(1) 2001 Chuck-E-Cheese brass token (young rat type).
(1) red plastic "1" Missouri sales tax token.
(1) 1957 Greece 2 Drachmai (more on this one below).
It turns out the the Greek coin is also a key-date and it does have some value in AU as it appears that 98% of the mintage is heavily worn. A similar coin, with a smidgen more wear sold on eBay recently for $24 plus $8 ship: https://ebay.com/itm/285097374846
So this is a decent coin that I will actually put in my collection of lower-value foreign coins.
@dcarr Thanks for posting. I find that those dang “ machines “ draw a wider variety of folks and an interesting variety of stuff found. Not a lot of places where everyone from the smaller collectors to folks like you who are in the business and those with massive collections and/or fabulous registry sets can enjoy such a simple way to have fun 👍🏼
At a Kroger that I don't frequent very often. Nothing on the way in but JACKPOT on the way out. 45 cents in change and 85 cents in 90% silver. First silver find in a long time.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
@tommy44 ... Great find... Lots of silver. No good luck for me lately, yesterday, just a cent, and that was on the floor in front of the Coinstar. Cheers, RickO
My first Coinstar find in months that hasn't been rotted Zincolns, which just aren't worth keeping, and definitely not worth posting.
A bent 2000-D Lincoln
1937 Belize 25 Cent Piece
1968 Canadian 25c Moose
A couple Nashville Bass Pro Shop elongaged
5 Pence piece (need to check the date)
2016 Bahamian Quarter
Whoever dumped these, has been around and got around.

This penny was not a Coinstar find but came from a supermarket change dispenser:
US Cent 1919-S (Weight 3.00 gm)
It lost some weight during the past 100 years.

Hit the supermarket at the right time and was rewarded with this 57 Frankie! My first half dollar found in all the years checking the reject slot.

@DCW... Nice finds. In all my years of checking the Coinstar, I have found only one half dollar... a 1971 Kennedy half. Cheers, RickO

1st find in February 1958D dime; back-to-back months start of 2023 - Ride a hot streak I always say!

No silver, unfortunately but a really cool 97 year old Greek 20 lepton from 1926:
The wheat is a 1941, the Canadian is a 1942.
Caribou, not moose.

I found 37 cents in the parking lot of one of the Smoky Mountains visitor center parking lots. Not much, but a great morning for a walk.
