Today was the first time in months there was something in the return. Unfortunately it was junk. A game token and a beat up 2 Euro cents (I think). I left it there.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Lots of little finds for me, nothing too exciting beyond several bucks worth of Canadian change.

Had to drop somebody off at the bus stop at 9 AM and stopped at a Safeway on the way home and figured what the heck I'll go look. 36 cents US (the dime is a little rough so I can see why it might reject, but the Illinois quarter is absolutely perfect!), 1.2 Pounds and 1.2 Euro plus 9 misc. foreign. I wonder if late night users are more likely to be in a hurry and not check the reject bin?

I looked quickly and thought it was a tenth oz. gold Krug. That would be a crazy find!

I was checking out at the local market... lane was close to the Coinstar.... heard lots of coins hitting the reject bin, but the individual kept scooping them out... final scoop he put in his pocket... :( Oh well.... win some, lose some and the others get rained out.... :D Cheers, RickO

The silver dime was peaking out from under the front of the machine, the quarter was behind it. The second dime was in another reject slot in another store today.

The pictured krugerrand has 1/10th of a troy ounce of gold.

Gold, precious metal, chemical symbol Au.

Krugerrand's are a South African gold coin.

Edit to add: And your a good neighbor to give your neighbor gold.

    I am assuming it’s real and not a counterfeit/fake coin/token.

Once again...finding a gold coin (even a tenth ounce gold coin) in a coinstar reject bin, would be an incredible rush....Just makes me all the more convinced to check those slots. Cheers, RickO

    Wonder where @Lulo90 went?

Maybe to let the neighbor know. Hope the neighbor did their due diligence. Internet searches are still free. :D

Yesterday at the Coinstar - modern half cent? (A full size cent added for scale).
What’s up with this? Any ideas why this cent was cut down?

The penny has been ground down to pass as a dime in a vending machine.

Here is a similar coin found in 2015:

US 1946-S cent altered to size of US dime
Diameter 19 mm, weight 2.67 gm

That was my first thought, but it’s quite a bit smaller than a dime.

Not a mint error. Go buy something in a vending machine to see if it works. ;)
