Wow, very cool. Is that under date that easy to see in hand under normal light? or is it more prevalent in photos?
I have some star ghosting but nothing like that.
I am curious what various bulk handled buyers look for in a bulk handled grade.
For the above, was 65 too high or about right for your "got hits?" palate?
(not asking if you agree with the grade, but what grade level you like them beaten down to)

I typically don't buy bulk-handled straight from MM when high grade or proof is available. However I bought my 1909o Morgan posted above because I could tell it had some nice ghosting however I had no idea how strong the ghosting was until I got it in hand. I was shocked in a good way. Plus that one, the 09o did pair 1 proof like bulk-handled has a mintage of only 10. Put that all together and it's one killer coin. If I ever do send it to ANACS I don't really care what grade it gets.
I have been toying with the idea of using one of my 64d morgans as a pocket piece though. Has anyone tried a pocket piece with a DC overstrike? Not sure yet if I'll use a die pair 1 or 2 if I do it but the thought intrigues me of having it slabbed once it gets down to the VF or below level.

Will PCI grade these or only ANACS?
ANACS & ICG but ANACS is much more prefered
ANACS has custom inserts for Moonlight Mint and Clark Gruber & Co.. I still prefer ICG's physical slabs but for Dan's pieces, ANACS is the de facto standard.
Thanks for the heads up. I check every other day but missed this. I think I just past the point where i have more DCarr coins in my collection than US mint coins. Cool!

Any idea yet Dan about mintage limits or time limits on mintage?
In the snip of his page posted above it says: "Reeded edge Mintage figure shown is final"
Shows 50. Is it total mintage?
Dan???
I didn't even see that.
There was a typographical error on that page (now corrected).
The reeded-edge version of the 39mm 1-troy-oz 999 silver is limited to 50 minted.
The other mintages are yet to be determined.
Damn. Thanks for the heads up. I was going to wait on that but I just grabbed one. It's pretty clear that the total mintage of the reeded edge is 50 from the way it's written. The smooth edge and 2oz seem open ended. Any guesses on how long until a sellout now? Scramble time
Thanks for the heads up on mintage limit @Kudbegud ! Ordered 2 reeded for the collection! Love the "double reeds" with the imprinted reeds next to the real reeds on this issue.
Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

I certainly don't and I don't collect them either.
I will say Carr's pieces are generally the most fun per dollar spent of anything I collect. There's a lot to said for that.

The documentation that has surfaced on the history of the high relief coin is really good stuff. To have a high relief coin derived directly from the original high relief design is historic!!!

Quad-struck at 300 tons.
The exceptionally high relief on the reverse originates from the original casting, then transferred to the die engraving, and then to the over-strike.

It would be great to see the same detail on the hair on the obverse as on the eagle on the reverse.
+1
I don't think the obverse on the actual coins lost nearly as much detail as the reverse. I suspect that the obverse plaster model had a relief height (after 1:5 reduction) of 0.030", the same at the struck coins. The reverse of the struck 1921 coins lacks at least half the original relief height of the casting.

I like to looks of the ANACS slab, yet they break apart too easily for my tastes.
Heads-up: Dan just added a whole bunch of awesome new stuff: dc-coin.com/
Yep, got me a 2 ouncer, pretty dang cool.
Just got a couple
The broken sword is epic and as a VAMmer the clashed Morgan is just killer!
Wow, the '17 dollar looks to have quite high relief to the reverse. Beautiful!
Well, just Love coins, period.
Yup. It is a high relief modeled after the 1921 issue. You can read his production blog with specs here...

Thanks felinfoel for the heads up! Beautiful work Dan! WOW!!!!!!!
Very nice. For those that didn't get the earlier Peace Dollar, this is an opportunity to get a similar piece. Wonder what the mintage will be?
Very nice! Just picked up a few new pieces.
Ditto
Got the one and two ounce, reeded edge, versions. I'd like to know the diameters and the thickness of the 2oz'r if anybody knows.
ACK!
I'm waiting to get the new CG gold set and now I see that the $5000 is out of stock as well as the two $200
ACK!
I'm nail biting now.
Website says the 2oz'r is 50mm diameter: http://www.moonlightmint.com/dc-coin_hard_times_list.htm
Compared with the 39mm 1oz token, I estimate the 2oz'r is maybe 20% thicker.

perfect timing for me won 1000 at casino Friday spent it all on DC new listings
Looks like the reeded edge might be sold out!
And people make fun of folks paying $1500/oz for a half oz gold spouse gold coin.
Reeded does look sold out. Ordered 2 only which may become the limit, like the "Starburst" bar. Got one of those.

I knew it would happen.
Added the 1917 O/S to my order to go with the 2 ounce.
more tonnage?
strike twice?
Couldn't help myself. Had to get a 1917 O/S. Is there a 10 step program for Dan Carr addiction?
