7,000 orders from mine so far

It only takes 12,500 unique orders of the maximum to finish this game.

Might sell 100k today and take 6 weeks to sell-out!

    Absolutely - or may never.

Remember the HR. Huge day one sales and then dragged on and on.

The primary risk with 'backorder' status is whether you will get delivery in time to qualify for 'first strike' designation.

Bought two for myself so I can make two sets for the kids. Not going through the trouble of flipping. Good luck to those who are.

However, the HR was minted to demand, which takes the allure of a "limited mintage" away and no doubt causes lots of folks to order over a period of time. This is especially true when the base price of gold is volatile. I recall ordering the limit of one HR the moment it was released and then ordering another half-dozen of them a few minutes before they went off sale on December 31.

They had 125k struck but likely only had the packaging in-house for half or maybe 75k of those. These are going....going....gone!

I've seen worse scenarios with mint ordering. Done within a couple of minutes with no real hassle. Looking forward to seeing what they look like.

looks like 411**** lowest to current 413****, that's 20K orders.....

that's a sell out with an average of 6 coins per order average.

Those backorder dates have been notoriously pessimistic. I wouldn't be surprised if all 125K are FS/ER eligible.

Only 12,500 orders to sell out. Really not that many.

Think about the Reverse Proof Presidents. Those sold out in about 10-15 minutes...although a much cheaper order.

Depending on the market, I doubt dealers will be returning any of these. They are giving them away at $250 on ebay.

Several boxes of 10 already sold on eBay in the $2600-$2800 range... will be interesting to see where these top out...

Thought it would only take 30 minutes to sell out... guess it took 45 image

It's not the mintage or household limit. It was only 12,500 ounces of gold. And even though it was overpriced, doesn't take that many buyers to grab up that dollar amount. If it were a cool 1 oz. gold coin with a mintage of only 12,500 of course that would sell out within an hour too.

If the gold quarter and the gold half have the same 125,000 mintage limit, I would not expect those to sell out as quickly given the higher value of the coins.

I think the big dealers with their network of buyers will buy roughly 30% of the offering (roughly 38k coins or 3,800 orders). This will take place in the first 10 minutes of ordering if not less. That leaves 87k coins left to the rest of us. Im guessing that another 10% of the mintage will go in full orders of 10 within the first 10 minutes. Thats another 12,500 coins or another 1,250 orders, leaving 74,500 coins. If the average order is 3 coins, that leaves the final number of orders needed to hit a sellout at just under 25k. At 600 orders a minute, that is a total of 42 minutes to sell out.

This is a hyped coin and many people have passed up other coins this year to be able to afford the series. I don't think its unreasonable to estimate a 3 order average. With respects to the 600 orders per minute, the best way I could try to estimate the numbers is to look at previously massively hyped coins and compare the sellout time, mintage and cost. While a totally different series, and a non precious metal, the Eisenhower C&C sold 18k in 10 minutes. I believe the hype is similar to this coin, possibly not as hyped. Thats roughly 1,800 orders per minute, however, the total price is about 1/3 the total of 3 of these coins. I divided 1,800 by 3 to arrive at 600. Yes somewhat flawed logic but best my little brain could come up with.

Love to hear others thoughts on sellout times and why they think that.

Looks like I was really close on the time but WAY off on the order numbers. Judging from order numbers known, the average purchase was 7.5 coins per order. So there are lots of 10 boxes out there.

As all too many have found out, pre-sales mean nothing. Once in hand, if they are selling for more the buyer will b happy. If for less the buyer will simply cancel the sale.

I don't know but I can't hardly wait on the Walker. I'm guessing a mintage limit of 75K on the SLQ and Walker.

I am waiting now to see the first PCGS submission results from those who can do walk-ins and got overnight shipping from the mint. If any MS70 PL's are showing up at all, they could change my ideas on selling my sealed box too soon. The next two coins will be more desirable to me. I suggest the mint lower the household order limit next time to around 2-5 or so, but keep the mintage lower.

If lower mintage and even HH limit of five, esp given today's sellout, the next will sell out even faster. It will b easy to get shut out given web site issues. Hard to predict what the Mint will do.

I sure hope that I can be at a computer when they are offered.

The mint originally projected sales from 145K to 225K coins could be sold. My WAG based on that is 60K quarters and 40K halves. (12.5K OZt on the dimes, 15K OZt on the quarters and 20K OZt on the halves.)

However, with today's sell out, they may push more, if they can source the 24k blanks. If they can, then 75K quarters and 50K in halves. Otherwise, I'll stick with my original 60K/40K split.

    Edit to add more WAGs:

5 hh limit on the quarters, 2 hh limit on the halves.

Demand will be lower due to the higher prices for the heavier coins.

There is no three piece set.

I am hoping for the reverse of the display panel to have three holes, though, if it's big enough.

Edit to add: The mint has released a statement that it'll announce first day sales tomorrow morning...

You never know the mint could toss a curve ball and offer proof and reverse proof versions of all the coins in a set at the end of the run.
