The Unc Army halves did ok, and I tend to think that these Sacs are more interesting.
Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally

    I knew it would happen.
  • I ordered 1 set on the 1st day they were available, should have been here on Wed.
Checked tracking "Returning package to shipper Incorrect address, unable to deliver - Returning package to shipper - Please contact shipper/merchant for details"

Contacted Fedex they said shipping address said 858 Park Ave. "which is a business", mine is right around the corner 858 Park Ln.
Called the mint said what's up? My receipt clearly says 858 Park Ln. Reply someone put the wrong address on the shipping label.
I said ok when you get it back you will just send it back to my correct address right? No we will just credit you the amount you charged on your CC, and then you can order another.

I said that is going to be hard to do since you do not have any, answer it's out of stock you can order when it is back in stock.
So if this person knew what they were talking about then there should be more in the future I guess.

I buy these Chronicle sets "when they are available" and an ASE every year for my 9 year old grandson, looks like he may not get this set.

Been ordering from the mint for collecting, ever since my Grandson was 3 that's when he started collecting cents.
When I 1st told him to read me the date he would read the numbers from left to right, so I'm glad we started doing this at age 3, because that's how we found he has dyslexia and found out early enough before he started school.

This is the 1st time this EVER happened.image

Lucky not the Post Office delivering.. the package would have been marked delivered .. and tough luck getting the package

Just received 5 sets, from a 4am 11/21 order. (Ironically, not my first order, but my second. My first order is still in transit. Hate smartpost...)

Four of the five coins look pretty good. Two of them look exceptional. All have lettering on the rim. Darn.

The five $1 FRN's were all in sequence:

    J0570 2356A
    J0570 2357A
    J0570 2358A
    J0570 2359A
    J0570 2360A

To grade, or not to grade... I'll wait until my other orders come in.

    You mean right to left?

Did you read about the dyslexia font that a dyslexic created? The scientists in the field say it may not work for everyone. The creator obviously likes it.

Ok, so I haven't bought from the Mint or a bit and not since the new improved website but when did they stop taking orders but backordering them? I remember having out of stock items backordered for weeks/months BUT you were still able to place an order. Since when did the Mint stop taking order when their stock was depleted?

By the way 7/8, I know, and live around a lot of Native Americans (most are not 100%) and I know you would not be able to tell them apart from the run-of-the-mill person walking down the street. Also, a few of them collect coins.

The Mint received so much negative feedback from customers who ordered on items that were "back ordered," with the date constantly moving back and without a definite shipping date, they apparently, and I agree, initiated the current policy ( product out of stock..cannot place an order until back in stock)

    Not quite true.
I purchased the 2pc Kennedy set when it was HH limit of 5. They came off the limit and I wanted 2 more. They were backordered. It let me order them.
So, if the premise is that something being backordered = out of stock (temporarily), then that can't be true that they can't be ordered.

If, more likely, they reach a known limit, and are waiting for potential cancellations/returns, but don't want to take orders PAST a known limit, and so block any and all orders, then that could be true.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I may be wrong, but if my memory isn't totally shot, that product was "out of stock" for about 2 weeks, and you could not place an order during that time.

Thanks for the Bongo refresher OPA.

I'm looking for a nice album for Sac's that will include all the varieties, satins, proofs, millenium, etc. Anyone have a favorite?

    Also posted at this thread.

My USPS TA9's finally arrived at my mail service today. Unfortunately, they are closed so I won't be able to fondle them until Monday...

Question for other Sackies out there -- were any burnished (or near burnished) 2000-P's released into circulation (besides Cheerios)?

I was searching a Mint roll recently and came across a few very mirrored specimens that were almost as mirrored as the Millenium Sac. And no, they don't have the enhanced tail feathers ... dang it.

Aren't those just from the bill that was stacked on top of it? I have a few like that but thought it would get them a lower grade (if I was the bill grading kinda person)

I got my bulk. Nothing special on the $1 FRN's. Why they chose the $1 and not the $2 is a mystery to me. I thought there would be smoe explanation on the COA. Nope. Nada. Nichts. The coin, however, is very attractive. I hope it gets smoe traction.

    No what?

Only the 2005 through 2010 Burnished coins from the Uncirculated Sets, but they aren't technically circulation coins.

Akbeez, here's what I did and it seems to be a reasonable approach. I bought the Dansco 8183 Album which includes the Regular Uncirculated coins (from rolls) and Proofs from 2000 through 2015, and also the Dansco Album 7183 that I've designated as my Burnished Sacagawea Album (and now the 2014-D Enhanced Unc as well). At least the slots are pre-labeled. There will be some emply holes, but it's a good compliment to the regular album and the presentation remains the same.

Thanks jmski -- I'm thinking the same for Sac album customization based on my research and posters advice. I think it's strange that album sellers don't include the satin finishes since they ARE a variety. ????? This could bump coin collecting in general with all other denominations inclusive (cent to dollars).

Technically speaking, the 2005 - 2010 (is this the last year for this finish?) coins from mint sets are satin finishes, not burnished.

Rec'd my 5EA units today. ALL notes have serial #s 057057xx. The last one is 05705755.
Missed the 57 by two points. I wonder if they were picked?

ALL coins are EXCELLENT quality and I suspect at least one is a 69. All have die rotations.
Finally, one arrived WITHOUT a sleeve/cover. Will have to contact CS to see if they have an extra.

Yes, 2010 was the last year of the Satin Finish coins.

I wonder how PCGS will label these when graded. Would there be any significance of the note serial number for the coin?

No, I don't see a connection between the FRN S/N and the Sac.

You will, generally speaking, be able to connect the FRN S/N to the date/time the person ordered the set.

My really close to Noon order on the 20th, had the following S/N's:

    J0570 0615A
J0570 0626A (Any Lilo and Stitch or Mazda fans want this set? Big scratch on the obverse of the Sac, though...)
    J0570 0646A

An order 14 hours later, had the S/N's:

    J0570 2356A
    J0570 2357A
    J0570 2358A
    J0570 2359A
    J0570 2360A

If they are filling orders with the FRN's in a relative sort order, you should be able to predict when the person ordered the set based on the FRN. (I have two more orders coming, we'll see if they have higher numbers.) Will this have any historical or monetary value? Not in your wildest dreams. image

BTW, two of the three sets I just got yesterday have scratches on the obverse of the Sac. Curved scratches, looks just like a coin on the end of a Brinks roll. I'm going to wait until I get my last order and do a return/replacement from the Mint...

There might be. Google 8888. Highly spiritual, they're called "Angel Numbers". Money Factory often sells lucky "888" sets.

So, you just need a couple of spiritual note collectors in an auction... Good luck on that! image

The BEP ( Money Factory ) will be putting out $100 Notes with serial numbers beginning with 8888xxxx.
The release date is December 3, 2014 ( Wednesday ), cost $138.88 limited to 8,888 notes. The Chinese are
supposed to regard 8 as a lucky number. Remember their Olympics? It started 08-08-08 .

I would guess that your note has some significant value. Especially to a Chinese person.

I'd say at least $8. image

    Maybe $888. image

Absolutely! Those are very lucky numbers in China. I would make thousands of copies of the note and sell them on Ebay and limit shipping to China only... image

How are other's finding the planchette quality on these things?

I just received 2 yesterday and one of the sets has a lot of dings and marks on the side where the two indians are. It's pretty miserable looking. The other looks really nice.

I'm guessing, if the bad one was sent in, I'd get no more than a 63 on it. The other, while certainly not a 70 is pretty dang nice. The bills are nothing special in S/N nor print issues.

I didn't order when I had the chance, reason being it seemed expensive ($13.95 for a dollar bill and a Sac). image

I did put my email address on the "notify me" box. Good luck with that. image

I did order one OGP from the bay for $31 and free shipping, just for speculation purposes. image

I also wonder if this might spark more collectors into starting a MS69 or MS70 complete set, plus proofs. It will be 15 years old next month.

I called and they said they are grading the coin only, you can ship it in a flip. They said they don't grade currency anymore and if i sent in the mint packaging, they would ship the dollar back to me.

I didn't know pcgs got out of the currency grading business.
  • FullStrikeFullStrike Posts: 4,353 ✭✭✭
Is it possible the Mint is done with these? They did lower the numbers on their Kennedy's. Maybe they will do the same with
    these C&C sets?

Well I sent some in and checked the FS box for the additional fee. I figure with the slow grading times by the time they get graded they will have made their minds up. I have a hard time believing they will turn down FS money especially since those ats are offering it. It would be a missed revenue opportunity to say the least.

<< <i>So is PCGS going to recognize this separate variety and a first strike designation? I can't find anything on their site and just wondering if I should send these off to NGC to get the appropriate labeling. >>

Here is an email I received....

NGC and PMG offer special pedigrees for 2014 American $1 Coin and Currency Set

The US Mint has sold out of the 2014 American $1 Coin and Currency Set! The set includes the first-ever Enhanced Finish Sacagawea Dollar as well as a Series 2013 $1 Federal Reserve Note.

Submit your sets to NGC and PMG to receive the special “COIN AND CURRENCY SET” pedigree. The Enhanced Finish 2014-D Sacagawea Dollar will be eligible for NGC’s Early Releases® and First Releases® designations.

    NGC PMG >>

Yup...they are on the ball there but, even though it is an easily recognized unique to the series coin, they require this:

<< <i>If submitting only the coin to NGC or only the note to PMG, only the panel with the coin or note should be submitted along with the appropriate grading company submission form. The panel must be intact. >>

Sooooo...one has Early Release...the other does not have FS (yet)...one says just send in the coin...the other need the whole panel (for now)...

    Got it....

Seriously, how could the US Mint miss out on Cyber Monday with the remaining units of this TA9?

    I ordered 50 units broken down as (8) x 5 units + 10 unit.

I opened an order of (5) I received yesterday:

    1. Sac's look great in the enhanced uncirculated finish.
    2. Quality is way better than business strikes.
    3. FRN Serial Numbers were sequential as follows:

    J 0569 6035 A
    J 0569 6036 A
    J 0569 6037 A
    J 0569 6038 A
    J 0569 6039 A

So 5000 Goodacre Sac Dollars go for $400. Probably 25000 mintage for the enhanced at 5 times the mintage of the Goodarcre. This coin could be worth raw about $80 maybe. We shall see.
