Erwindoc- From the previous page, I personally can't hold onto Barber Quarters in VF and XF condition. Very hot!!
Jeff- I don't think I ever returned a coin on eBay. Then again, I rarely buy raw stuff there unless it's low grade material that I like.
Those are some nice looking dimes Lenny. I like the look of the '93 S especially.
Here is a lower grade example for my PCGS set that I'm waiting to receive:

Especially love the 1897-P. The color is great. The '97-P has eluded me. Seems everyone of them I have encountered have been cleaned to some extent... when focused on XF as a target.
Covering 1893-P, I am showing $10.25 here...
I agree with Jed M. on the '93-S dime Lenny.

Thanks Tim! Those are nice - my favorite is the '93 Barber (i'm guessing it's an EF40?)
Here is one more that I couldn't resist this morning, for my slabbed set:

Wow, Perfect look Jed!

The 06-O stays in the 62 holder. It has a lot of character and I don't care about registry points. Someday these rattlers will be worth more anyway. The 58+ populations will go up and the rattler populations will go down.
Here's a newp from my friends Dave and Melissa. PCGS 58 CAC. (Maybe I'll try to plus this one. It's sweeeeet!!!)

That one's got great skin! I was curious to know what the lady manager is holding, I thought "It looks like a plumb bob in her right hand, and some sort of thing on a stick in the other." So I did some research and found the items to be a distaff and spindle. Hmmm interesting.
A question for the Barber Community I am trying to put together a complete AU CAC collection of Barber Quarters and lately I have been thinking about including MS62-64 coins with the right look and CAC. I am finding it easier to find some dates in MS 64 than AU without very much of a premium. What are your thoughts on the market for AU CAC coins and will the set look strange with the MS coins mixed in with the AU. Some days I even think about trying all MS 64 and no AU. Post your thoughts on the availability of these coins. I am new to this series but like the look of the Barber Quarters.
I think high grade AU would go well with low MS grades of 63 or lower. I don't think the right 64s would look too far out of place. Depends on how selective you are!

My first Barber sets were 63/64 which I later upgraded to 65-67. I also worked on Everyman AU sets with my friend Mike Hayes (RIP). As a group, the AU coins were the hardest to find in CAC. Obviously, that stereotypical statement may not hold true for certain dates; however, if you plan to hold out for AU-CAC coins, it will be a long road for many dates. I agree w/ erwindoc that you should incorporate 62-64 coins if you are looking for 100% CAC.
Jed-Interesting info on the Isabella. I like the amount of detail on the coin's design.
Frank-Thanks on the 06-O!
Tim-Does one "try" for a lowball set?
Eldorado-Congrats on the 07-S half!
Darrell-How many quarter sets are you going to assemble? :-)
Willy-Go for the nicest coins at the best prices, regardless of grade. When you find an upgrade, the spares will be easy to move.

What's your thought on this one Barber crew?
Jason, I would like to think better pictures could be taken with improved lighting. Seems previously dipped and some highpoint rub possible if I am seeing the cheek and neck area correctly. I would not be pleased with the vertical neck scrape, I know that. I could live with the minor portrait nicking though that is not desirable either. Picture images aside, AU55 to 58 estimated... lower due to the neck scrape. My opinion J, but I would hold out for the next one. Humbly, I hope I am not being too harsh in my assessment. A little originality and color would have helped my assessment.

No worries. Sellers images, so I cannot help the lighting situation or improve images any.
Erwindoc, I think the guys’ comments on the 01 half are accurate. Still it’s not a terrible coin and I’ve certainly seen similar ones straight graded. I you like the coin, maybe making an offer that reflects the coins merits and flaws is a way to go, like a net AU50 price.

Thanks for the response
Another Wayte Raymond unveiling. Going with the 1906-O following up from the P...

That's a very nice coin, Tim. It doesn't look like the hole in the album is the right size for the coin?
Album is cut weird. The exactness and tolerances weren't the same back then as they are today.

How about mixing it up a bit today. Going with an 1893-O with right MM placement out of the Raymond...

Here's my only 1906 Philadelphia graded half:
I've always been a bit lukewarm towards this coin. Nice look for XF, but underwhelming for a 58.
On the flip side, I've always been a fan of my '06 O Half in AU 58:
Imagine that- New Orleans beating Philadelphia. Unlike the NFL.
That's correct. Purchased raw May 30, 2012 and I had it graded. Came back PCGS XF40.

PCGS MS-62 rattler...Did not CAC??? That's tight! If I didn't like the holder so much, I bet I could 58+ it in a heartbeat.
Recently arrived 1893-O BQ with center mintmark.

If you can get it in a 58+ holder I'll pay strong money for it!
I would be shocked if Lenny cracked that coin out to play the 58+ Lottery.
Well, If his luck is like mine it would come back 58 without the +.

Is anyone on the Hayes Megathread trying for a lowball set? of any kind.

CAC should like it!
I do.

Lowball set?
only if I can buy junk silver in hopes of finding the 'ice cream ' 94S.

This is a Barber thread, so no words necessary...just gaze at this beauty!
I figure as tight as this community is the cat is already out of the bag. Here we go! The 1st one freed from it's shipping box.

I'm guessing that coin looks much better than the photo reveals.......
I think the cat is still in the bag- let him out! Is Darryl starting an Everyman Barber Quarter set?

Lenny, Might have a reject set.
Wish me luck in Vegas!
A pair of 1900-S quarters, raw and PC 58. Pix courtesy Vern. Merry Christmas to all!
Is there something going on with the mintmark on that first '00-S? Look at the lower serif east-west and the crud inside the S-loop area.

Tim, In the upper loop of the “s” I see two people staring back at me.
What's your thought on this one Barber crew?
Looks buffed or lightly whizzed from the pictures.

It's just the look of the coin. Soft devices, bright but dull surfaces, etc.
Here is a somewhat recent newp in PCGS XF45+. 1900-S CAC. Photos courtesy of Heritage:

Tim, I like that 00-S. Good buy!
As shown respectively: P35, N30 CAC, P30 (I have not sent any to CAC)
@fastfreddie Fred, I like your choice of early O-mints! A '93-O, '95-O, and '97-O are good coins for your collection.

@fastfreddie - Those are some great looking quarters! I like the two '95s and the 94-S the most.
