I purchased a '95 O Dime in a VG 8 ANACS holder about a month ago. I cracked it out and submitted it raw to our hosts. It came back last week with the same grade- now a PC VG 8:
It's the last New Orleans Barber needed to complete my Everyman Complete Barber set. The set is now missing 6 coins; all "S" mint.
Here's a slightly better date newp that has a few marks, but it seemed (to my eyes) to be a pretty good strike for a New Orleans coin and I liked the overall look enough to pull the trigger. Graded by our hosts as an MS62.
My current coin collecting interests are: (1) British coins 1838-1970 in XF-AU-UNC, (2) silver type coins in XF-AU with that classic medium gray coloration and exceptional eye appeal.

Honestly, Jeff, I thought the same thing. Maybe I'm biased since I own the coin, but I would've guessed 63+ or possibly 64 had I just seen the coin and not the label.

A few more pick-ups recently... this first one was because of what looks like a second O seen inside the upper lip of the overpunched O. Does anyone else have something similar? The 1903-O is in low grade but the novelty peaked my interest...

Lots of Barber sleepers. The 00-O half can certainly be a tough coin to find.
Another tough half is the 13-S. You can look a long time for a nice xf-au example

I agree with Jon that the green spot is PVC and needs to be removed.
Regarding the grade PCGS assigned to Tim's 1894, I learned long ago that PCGS does not like darker toning on mid-grade Barber coins. They will, more often than not, reduce the grade by a full level even if the details are all there, whereas NGC tends not to reduce the grade for toning like that.

I agree it could have come back as a 35 or on a good day 40. PCGS is cyclical in their grading and are definitely in a tough cycle now.
Perhaps it was net graded also. The cheek and neck seem rough, almost granular. Plus the small reverse rim tick over OF might have played a part. Still a nice coin. Probably not worth a second look at our host because of the cost vs, value. Best wishes

Really! I would have thought 58 even. It's very attractive and photogenic.
IMO. Net graded. Wispy hairlines on the neck and cheek. Plus looks like retoning from a long ago dipping. But still an attractive coin

I think I have seen the 04-O half in person. I’m also surprised that went into a details holder. Just hard to predict anymore.
One wouldn't suspect that '04 O half as being a cleaned coin.
