Well the good news now is that the shipping dates have not changed at all but the bad news is nothing is shipping and the shipping dates are far enough out so they don't have to change them every day.

So I need another PCGS FS $5 in MS70, who needs a PR70?
Using current eBay prices for raw coins and considering the low % of 70s reported here, it looks like a better idea to sell the HOF raw on eBay right now while the prices are high. The tough choice is for those that want 70s for their collection and still have sealed boxes. In that case probably better to grade the coins and hope for a decent % of 70s (be sure to request getting the capsules and OGP back) I'd decide once the coins were back if I was selling 69s or coins back in their OGP. I got 3/5 proof$5 , 0/2 unc $5 and 4/5 proof $1 back as PCGS 70s
Goldbully - Thanks for posting the PCGS population reports. There's lots of data and many thoughts.
Here are some thoughts:
1. PCGS might be in the peak of its grading of HOF Baseball coins. Previous posts noted that their grading took about a month and the latest posts suggest that the grading time has decreased to 3 weeks.
2. In any event, we can expect that the First Strike populations to grow until about mid to late June when the rush to meet the May 6th First Strike deadline is processed. That would leave only those HOF coins "entombed" in sealed boxes left to grade.
3. I continue to believe that the First Strike label is the most valuable label since it clearly marks the delineation of the original mintage and the subsequent mintage.
4. The grading percentage of 70's has been awesome. (apologies to some recent posts.) The percentages are like what one might expect of a presentation striking. Since this was a first time striking a curved coin, perhaps the US Mint took great care to strike them. We have criticized their shipping problems but maybe we should compliment the US Mint on the quality of the HOF coins (except for the clad coins.)
5. The population increase has lowered the market price of the HOF silver dollars. See those offered by moderncoinmart.
6. Since I am waiting for my HOF silver dollar coins (early August) , I can only hope that the condition is as good as it has been for these First Strikes or original strikes.
Bravo Gold bully for your posting of the population reports.
The biggest increase in total graded coins by type came for the PF $1 silver with 1,544 followed by the MS $1 at 544. Larges single coin increase by grade was again the PF $1 at 855.
I see my MS 68 $5 got counted as that grade went from 1 to 2 population.

My silver were "In stock and reserved" for 10 days before they shipped. I don't think the gold will be that long..........I hope. Seems my orders ALWAYS "ship" on Thursdays (actually just a label is created, they pick them up on Friday) which totally voids the 2nd day Air thingy
Chalk that one up to the mint too. They delayed shipment long enough for the credit card people to screw up the transaction. I hope it straightens out ok for you. How many more of these things will we see before this fiasco is over with.

What good is that if you don't have the product to ship which is the real problem.

I knew the MS would 70, I thought at least one proof would and one proof had three 1.5 cm scuff marks that I though assured a low ball grade of 67 or maybe even 66. There is no way anyone looked closely at the lowball prospect!
Unbelievable.

Isn't this to be expected? Sure, I would love to have all my submission of moderns come back 70. But a 20% success rate ensures premiums for 70's.

No matter what you think, the numbers do not lie. While many got few or no coins, a few got many coins.
The biggest increase in total graded coins by type came for the PF $1 silver with 1,544 followed by the MS $1 at 544. Larges single coin increase by grade was again the PF $1 at 855.
I see my MS 68 $5 got counted as that grade went from 1 to 2 population.
I agree with ebizgobro's observations.

They missed the best flip in years and are angry."
Yeah, some who repeatedly cursed the Mint here for delayed shipping now seem to be the first to flip offering in stock and reserved pre sales!
Now we know why they were so upset and vocal.

<< <i>My 3:21 orders are In stock and reserved lets see when they ship. I waited this long whats a week or two more happy to see them moving along. >>
My silver were "In stock and reserved" for 10 days before they shipped. I don't think the gold will be that long..........I hope. Seems my orders ALWAYS "ship" on Thursdays (actually just a label is created, they pick them up on Friday) which totally voids the 2nd day Air thingy
Checked my order which was in stock and reserved but status said on hold. Called customer service and it was credit card problem.
Last week my credit card was hacked and the bank alerted me and cancelled the card. Over the weekend I changed
cards on the mint site, however that was not enough. The CSR was verry helpful and said existing orders had to have
a manual correction by the customer service dept. They were trying to charge old card and it was declined. She said it was ready
to ship and to watch for UPS tracking #. I hope this does not delay my shipping.
They delayed shipment long enough for the credit card people to screw up the transaction.
I hope it straightens out ok for you.
How many more of these things will we see before this fiasco is over with.
Didn't know those guys were out lurking and buying at full retail? Kind of strange.
Is the price headed North? Is anyone aware of something we are not? Errors?
