Sherman "Good game, good game" (extends hand)....
BTW, Crabtree is the punk that felt like starting "something" at a charity event this past off season.
Cnote, to be fair, I seriously doubt that Sherman was approaching Crabtree to say "good game," especially since right before that, he was prancing around with his hands around his throat in the universal choking motion.

To sum ALL of this up............Sherman is the kind of player that the whole league and all fans hate........EXCEPT for his team and his fans, who are extremely happy he's on their team.
Sherman has put a target on himself with his shenanigans. Now there will be a lot less chance he'll survive all of next season with all his bones and ligaments intact.

I have a hypothetical scenario and question for 1985fan.
You're the GM of a franchise with money to burn and a glaring deficiency at corner. Richard Sherman is the best possible free agent available with 5-6 Pro Bowl-calibre years left in him.
Sherman gets in the head of weaker opponents. Not weaker physically, weaker mentally. Once we wins that battle, he wins the war.
Love having a lock down corner like that on my team, who can neutralize a beast like Crabtree. I just can't figure out why QBs try to throw his way at all. 8 picks? Stupid!

Stephen, I know you didn't ask me, but no question in my mind you go for him, if he's available at the right price. The goal for any NFL GM is to win, and if that means winning ugly, so be it. I would push for him - he is very talented. With that said, I would also sit him down and tell him to stop acting like an embarrassment because my team doesn't need that type of distraction. What does that have to do with him not knowing how to act properly after a big win? His coach has already admitted Sherman didn't act properly and has talked to him.
I have watched the replay of the Sherman post game interview with Erin Andrews and have read and listened to comments about events that preceded the interview.
Sherman was excited about the Seahawk victory and his great play to end the 49ers last drive. He was also agitated about his "issues" with Crabtree. He spoke what was on his mind and to be honest about it, I have no problem with what he said. It was heat of the moment and it was real. He does not like Crabtree and the feeling is likely mutual. So what.
Is it merely the fact that he stated what was on his mind, without any attempt at moderating his thoughts and words so as not to "give offense" that has many people upset and shocked? If so, get real. Life is not always going to be calm, serene and polite.
Sherman is likely not going to be invited to one's home for dinner so who cares if he has an "in your face" personality. As far as calling him a "thug", well depending on one's definition of a "thug" he may be one or he may not be one. The fact that he was raised in Compton, Cal. does not in and of itself mean that Sherman is or is not a "thug" (I am sure that there are many wonderful people who live in Compton along with those who are horrible, just like there are wonderful and horrible people who live in Beverly Hills, Malibu, Newport Beach, etc.).
I suspect that many people (coaches, owners, fans, etc.) would like to have Sherman play for their team.
The above said, I hope that Sherman is torched for 3 or more TD's by Manning and the Denver receivers in two weeks.

<< <i>What does that have to do with him not knowing how to act properly after a big win? His coach has already admitted Sherman didn't act properly and has talked to him. >>
The point I'm trying to make is, although you don't condone his actions, you'd definitely acquire him if humanly possible. There's no denying his talent. But the thing is, guys like Richard Sherman are often times a package deal. The exceptional, the good, the bad, and the very, very ugly. Asking him to significantly temper his antics, however, could potentially have an adverse effect on his play, and hear me out on this one.
I'm sure you'll agree that confidence is vital in life. If you've got it, you can move mountains. Without it, it becomes increasingly difficult to get to where you ultimately want to be. As it pertains to a guy like Sherman, I'd argue that his chosen profession -- playing cornerback in the NFL -- is one of the most difficult positions in all of sports, especially in this day and age. Not only are they asked to tie themselves to the hip of a human being who generally runs anywhere from 4.3-4.5, but in this era of the mobile QB the time required is at its highest peak ever. I don't care how adroit you are -- someone will eventually get you when that's the case. That said, if a CB doesn't possess selective amnesia by way of heightened confidence, his tenure in the NFL will be short-lived.
Well, one could argue that a dude like Sherman not only houses extreme confidence, but it's confidence on roids. It extends well beyond the field of play, and in my opinion that can be construed a couple of different ways:
#1 - He's genuinely an incorrigible pr!ck. I personally choose to discount that notion, because I've seen/read/heard from him when he was nothing short of articulate, thoughtful and…..wait for it….uber polite. Hell, even last night he conducted another interview later in the evening and it was the complete antithesis of what happened with Erin Andrews.
#2 - It's part of the downside to being the best (or one of the best) at what he does. I'm not condoning it; I'm simply saying it's conceivable that he's wired differently. For some players, convincing themselves (and others) of their potential is half the battle. Then they take that mindset and parlay it into otherworldly play on the field.
True, Pete Carroll spoke to him about his actions. But he also said this today:
"You're talking about a guy in a warrior's mentality in the middle of everything," Carroll said. "He's a fiery guy. That was Richard being Richard in a moment where you would like to pull him to the side and take a knee for a while, then we'll talk to you.
"It's unfortunate that it was so crazed, but that's who he is. His mental makeup to get ready for that matchup was expressed right there so he could play the way he can play. Unfortunately, sharing with the world, it didn't come across so well."
""I don't know him at all. I've watched him play. He's that kind of guy," Brady said. "So, you know. I approach the game—and I have respect for my opponents. That's the way our team always plays. We win with graciousness, and when we lose, we could do better. Some teams don't always do that, or that's not their program.""

Sounds racist to me Mr.Politicaly correct, how about preaching what you sow? I mean Your judging this guy from an interview after being all fired up from grabbing victory from the jaws of defeat, after who knows what happened between him and Crabtree and calling him a "Thug"!
<< <i>Does anyone here really think that Sherman would have shook Crabtrees hand if he would have caught that ball and the 49ers would have won? >>
No, because offensive PI wouldn't have been called like it should have been, and Crabtree would have spit in his face in most likely. >>
Seattle pass defenders have mastered the art of getting away with pass interference, and you want to say this? Then suggesting Crabtree would do this in theory when we've already seen how 'well' Sherman reacted?
It's sad watching football fans turn into entitled d-bags.
<< <i>I like how race is getting introduced as a reason why it's not ok to be not ok with Sherman's antics. That's awesome.
Heck, even Deion Sanders took to Twitter to tell the two guys to tone it down. >>
There are a lot of people who are upset with Sherman who have not made this a racial issue. However, there are also plenty of people out there who HAVE criticized Sherman while making race a focal point of their criticism.
Just sitting here wondering and musing about whether Richard Sherman would no longer be considered a "thug" if he publicly announced that he is against the team name "Redskins" for the Washington NFL team and would instead be considered "enlightened and progressive"?

Yes, of course he would be, because words go only so far, where actions go much, much further. We've seen how his well-crafted PR-created public persona works in premeditated situations and in press releases, and then we see him, time and again, acting like he did on national TV last night.
The PR spin machine took less than 24 hours to try to remove Sherman from his lack of sportsmanship:
"I apologize for attacking an individual and taking the attention away from the fantastic game by my teammates ... That was not my intent," Sherman said Monday in a text message to ESPN's Ed Werder."

Of course he is. His actions without the aid of a sophisticated PR spin machine on the field last night revealed the real Richard Sherman, who's nothing more than a punk. Sorry if that offends you, but his outburst is nothing new for him.

<< <i>Tom Brady on Sherman's rampage:
""I don't know him at all. I've watched him play. He's that kind of guy," Brady said. "So, you know. I approach the game—and I have respect for my opponents. That's the way our team always plays. We win with graciousness, and when we lose, we could do better. Some teams don't always do that, or that's not their program.""
Talk about oh snap.
Sherman's a thug and his outburst wasn't passion that was his thuggish core showing itself. >>
You dont know this guy from a hole in the wall and you are calling him a "Thug" if he was white would you still be calling him a "Thug" or would he be a "jerk"?

Heck, even Deion Sanders took to Twitter to tell the two guys to tone it down.

<< <i>I like how race is getting introduced as a reason why it's not ok to be not ok with Sherman's antics. That's awesome.

There are a lot of people who are upset with Sherman who have not made this a racial issue. However, there are also plenty of people out there who HAVE criticized Sherman while making race a focal point of their criticism.
<< <i>Just sitting here wondering and musing about whether Richard Sherman would no longer be considered a "thug" if he publicly announced that he is against the team name "Redskins" for the Washington NFL team and would instead be considered "enlightened and progressive"? >>
And Im still waiting on 1985 fan to respond to my question.

Yes, of course he would be, because words go only so far, where actions go much, much further. We've seen how his well-crafted PR-created public persona works in premeditated situations and in press releases, and then we see him, time and again, acting like he did on national TV last night.
"I apologize for attacking an individual and taking the attention away from the fantastic game by my teammates ... That was not my intent," Sherman said Monday in a text message to ESPN's Ed Werder."
That didn't take long, did it.
<< <i>The PR spin machine took less than 24 hours to try to remove Sherman from his lack of sportsmanship:

Is he still a "Thug"?
Edit: my bad, it's 'Flavor', not 'Flava'. Maybe I should start calling you 'Rob Base' instead.

He said "Yes, of course he would be,........"
Clarification is needed.
If Richard Sherman publicly announced he is against the name "Redskins" for the Washington NFL team would he:
1. still be a thug; or
2. would he change from being a thug to being enlightened and progressive?
Or maybe one can be an enlightened and progressive thug, if the terms are not mutually exclusive.

He's a thug too

Awesome down there Dave, I don't really care about what Sherman said, that was just an enjoyable game on a national stage. Doug
Heck, I'd love just to the hear the conversations, let alone watch the high flying aerobatics. Very cool gig.

Very blessed, grateful and know I lived a dream that many would give up a nicely centered Mantle to have done on Sunday. I'm the second sports shooter on our staff and thankful that my station has confidience in me. On to NY/NJ this Sunday for a week.
Was Trayvon Martin a THUG too because he had some candy on him and his hood pulled over his head ?
Is Sherman a THUG because he was too hyped up after a game ?
You've already called Native Americans who disagree with your view of the term Redskins as racists.
Which African American are you going to label as a THUG next ? Who's it going to be ?
Is Obama a THUG for using drones to kill innocent people ?
We all know that you condone racial epithets, but we'd prefer you keep that racially motivated hatred to yourself, and not
express it on these forums.
Thank you in advance,
