Hard to tell from the pix if this has been cleaned or not but the detail is great and the color looks pretty nice. 14 day return anyway so for $80 twas a no brainer to me. Comments/thoughts welcomed. Will advise when it gets to me
Hard to tell from the small photos but I would guess the coin has been wiped at some time. The color and the grade make it worth a shot for $80, like you said you can always return it. Please post larger photos and your thoughts when you receive it.
If it's in a straight holder, it is a no-brainer. Sure there are problem coins graded now and again, but that coin is not one of them I'll wager. It's not like there'll be another one next week coming up, either. A wipe, a rub, some collection handling...chalk it up to a history of appreciating caretakers. Hope it's nice in hand for you.
We're all born MS70. I'm about a Fine 15 right now.
I got the 97-O and sent Justin pictures to hopefully show the coin the way I see it in hand. Be interesting what I think about my pictures after Justin posts them here. I R a very happy camper! I don't think I could find a nicer coin for the grade. I am 100% with the grade assigned...definately on the + side but not a 58. Kudos to the seller for finding me this coin!
DK - glad to help out - you now have all of my 97o's - A fabulous 45 and a super nice 55. Not fond of your obverse pic but reverse looks right on and we both know the coin in hand is better than all of the pics posted. Have a great evening !! tcup

Thanks Walt - Wouldn't be possible without you, Barry and many other great folk from the forum .. As Emeril says, I'm about a day or two away from kicking it up a notch. Anxiously awaiting the crown jewel 93-S .. The old "XF45" is halfway to Ga.

Can't wait to see it - great date in all 3 barber series
Lots of peeps looking for a 95-0 quarter in AU (starting with yours truly). I believe Lenny has been also searching...for months if not years. There have been a few 45s for sale lately; nothing I am too fond of personally.
Darrell - I think Walt is sending the very very big crowbar to tempt me today.
Kevin - I use an old Nikon Coolpix 4500 camera. It does the work, I don't know much about photography. And welcome to the barber quarter registry, you're off to a strong start.
Craig - Outstanding 95-O quarter.
Mike - Real nice 95-O dimes. Care to add 15 cents to your collection? Either of your dimes for my 95-O quarter. (See Walt, I can be persuaded).
Holed - What a nice love token. At least they didn't do it on a 94-S.
And since 95-O's are today's theme, my rather bland dime.

Mike ... Put the image of your 1898 brokage up for the new folks here, a very nice look with your latest images. I have tried to image my 97-S, 12-S,etc. but I did a poor job. Currently, I do not have any images of several cool dates but I will figure out a way.
It's good to see you posting Walt. I know we're a couple of AU 58 Barber Quarter guys!!
Many of you will not remember me because it has been a while since I posted anything here. I quit posting when I sold all of my Barber coins but I just repurchased one that I used to own. The coin was in an old green tag holder but now is in the new PCGS secure holder. These holders are very nice and I would recommend them for your higher end coins. One neat thing about the PCGS secure is that you can go to the PCGS home page and click on Cert verification, enter the certificate number and see pictures of the coin. You can try it on my new coin, just type in 26418540. Below the image is a link to click on and a second image will come up.
You can also see the coin at www.ocnumis.com, in the archives.
Mike - That 1898 error is amazing, probably the neatest error coin I've ever seen (partial to barber quarters as I am). Congrats on all the other acquisitions, you're like Walt, you add more coins in a week, than I do in 3 months.
Joe - Real nice 95-O dime, I'd be interested if you find an upgrade. Maybe you can get Mike and I in a bidding war!!
For tonight, the last of my quarter newps from Baltimore, a raw 1901-O, opinions on what it will grade (if it grades)?

Great 1895-O's everyone.......

Great coin, a perfect example of the kind I'm putting in my someday complete run of O-mint barber quarters.
Easily a 45, 50 if it throws cartwheels.
Hoard the keys.
