Zep33...A+++ Like Archie Bunker sings..."those were the days"! Indeed they were, never to be had again, unfotunately.
Ditching school, taking the train to Boston to see a day game...life just didn't get much better than that. Oh, how sweet it was!
Zep33...perhaps you can post eBay item # 260 827 767 075. And if you'd be kind enough to educate me on how to do it would be appreciated. I couldn't figure out the Properties of the pic...
A great win for the home team!! Far too many LOBs...TWELVE, and Gonzalez, Youk, Ellsbury all 0 hits. I'd say we got lucky along the way and finally got juiced in the 10th. You gotta figure when it's 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th, with Rivera on the mound that your chances drop substantially. Fortunately some bats woke up for a huge win.
Anybody know why the Red Sox didn't (or don't) spend the night at home, then fly to Minnesota say around noon time today, all rested and not royally screw up their body clocks? Seems to be they'd be better off...I'll bet they got to Minnesota somewhere around 4-5 this AM. Kinda dumb to me.
he must have slept with the ump's wife, daughter, and dog, since the strike zone for Bedard (and not for Liriano) is about the size of a sheet of copy paper. not fun to watch when an ump forgets his contact lenses. McDonald's HR helps, though

Al, I'm not Zep33 but I saw your post and thought I might be able to help. Here is what I think you wanted posted:
I don't have time tonight to help to show you how to do it, but if you still need help tomorrow night, PM me and I'll help then.

I don't care what it is spelled. We would be lost without him in 2007 that brought us a WS title. Don't be surprised if he is back because closers are not getting huge long term deals. 3X12 might get it done and if Bard is the closer next season our pen will be empty. He really has only had one bad season.

was just talking to a fellow fan this morning and that is pretty much what I said. I figure the Sox will go three years at twelve per. If some other team wants to give him four years, he's gone. I hope the Sox are wise enough to limit themselves to a three year commitment to a "closer" (I hate that term)...for that matter, three years is a long commitment to any relief pitcher.

I was certainly surprised by that move too. Not like he is coming off a recent injury or anything...

Paplebon, Bard and Albers were not available. Lester has an extra day off this turn, bringing him back out was not that bad. It is a long season and sometimes you have to let your starters go, Lester was only at 100 pitches.
Papelbon...he may want $15m per, doesn't mean he'll get it. He's making $12m now, imagine asking for that kinda raise for throwing a baseball?
Lester...should have taken him out, but that's Tito's call and not a good one IMO. I kinda wonder about Lester, I've never seen him acknowledge the crowd when he leaves the mound. Odd that some of these guys seem to think that tipping their cap will maybe break thier arms. However, when seen in the dugout they're are all smiles and jokes. Kind of an irk with me, much like not tossing the ball to the fans, but keeping it on throwing it back in after the 3rd out is made.

I think Lester is all business on the mound and he never smiles. I agree that players should tip their cap, throw a ball into the crowd or wave. Hopefully, they are just focused on playing and they don't even realize what they are not doing.
When you've got 38k ++ fans standing an applauding you, surely you know it's for you. Wakefield knows how to tip his cap...such a simple gesture to acknowledge those who pay THROUGH THE NOSE to even be there.
I vividly recall the love-hate relationship Williams had with the fans. When he returned during the all-star game he held his cap high to acknowledge the crazy-cheering fans. Sadly, his DOOFUS son had him wear not a Red Sox cap, but a "hitters.com" cap to shill is website. I was not sad when I learned his son had died...in my book he was nothing but a leech and a roach of epic proportions. It is mind-numbing to know the Splendid Splinter has been decapitated and his two parts are now cryogenically frozen in some freak place that believes science will one day bring him back to life.
BTW, I was force to use the word "roach" INSTEAD of the full coc$roach by the web watchers. Talk about being paranoid and myopic!!! I guess a Coc%erspaniel would now just be referred to as a Spaniel. What have we come to with such foolishness?

The new Tesla coil delay electrons will be in use for all Red Sox west coast games effective tonight. Those of you west of the Mississippi will not be seeing the games until a start time of 11PM local. Just wanna share that late night pain we East Coaster have endured for so long.
BTW, cockroach, cockroach, cockroach. Now I feel better in my description of Williams' son.
Enjoy da games, I'll probably be drooling by the 5th inning.
That was my point, us East Coasters have suffered for years with late starts for west coast games...you will recall that I'm sure. Just thought you early game time watchers should step up to the pain bar.
Tesla was a genius of a man who gave Edison a HUGE run for his money. Take a gander at what he accomplished...most importantly was Alternating Current, while Edison was hugely hung up on Direct Current. Edison in an attempt to discredit Tesla actually electrocuted an elephant to the horror of all who watched. If we did not have alternating current, we would not be in touch with each other, no tv, no NADA.
That was not too bad, it was over by 11:20, even you old guys could handle that one.
That computes to 1:20AM in my world. I have long ago given up on watching west coast games much past a couple of innings. Especially when El gordo de Toado is pitching !!!
Even Fox gave up on nuking the game tonight. However, the 4PM start Sunday will be televised in my Directv package.

Still is when you drive down or walk by Fenway, let alone walking in there!
What a game!
That will teach them to walk Crawford to get to Reddick.
Reddick's turn to get beat up but I am sure he did not mind at all.

I thought Bedard showed real class tonight with all those bad calls against him. He pitched a great game and really did deserve to have gotten
the win. I am just happy that the did win in the long haul and even more happy with the yankees loss.
Pitboss...agree, Bedard got super hosed on the strike zone, I think he'll be ok.
UP 2.5 on the Bronx boys. Looks like Mariano is slipping a bit.

his ERA is almost where it belongs (2.xx). I still dislike the guy and never trust him. It's his contract year, of course.

If they give him 3 years I will be surprised .
He is a good closer but that is a lot of money for a closer.
If I was him I would take it and run.
But knowing Pap, he will want a lot more than that.
Fact...the Yankees badly need pitching.
Conclusion...Papelbon to the Yankees. I'll be very surprised if he's resigned by the Red Sox...it's a money thing.
Why would you pay Paplebon $15 million a year for a good but not great ERA of 3.14 when you have Bard making half a million with an ERA of 2.30?
Francoma strikes again! He makes a lot of good decisions but some of them really $uck. Bringing Lester back in the 8th last night was one of them.

The starting time here shows 8 PM which is 10 PM your time.
Pls google or Wikipedia Nikola Tesla. Thank God this guy came along!!!
That does not make any sense. I should be getting the game at the same time you are not 3 hours later.
You of course will still enjoy the game at 8PM local...we East coasters will suffer with the 10PM start, like always.
Sometimes you just gotta take me with a grain of salt.
You got me on that one, it just did not make any sense. I could not figure out how they would be able to do that. You forget that is why I
moved to Albuquerque so I would be able to be awake to see the Red Sox games.

I have not electrocuted any elephants lately and seeing as the game starts at 8 PM I will be able to watch the whole thing unlike when I lived

Gone to bed.
That was not too bad, it was over by 11:20, even you old guys could handle that one.
