Copied this off another chat someone called ampex today after getting thru a special url and seeing these coins in pcgs holders, this is what they said..........The customer service person said that the sets would be sold starting May 13 - they are PCGS Choice BU sets.

Apparently, the customer service department said they were not told any of these details either... I informed them and showed them the page. apparently there was a url website up showing these and that is why they called and checked. This could be very interesting if there in holders already like amark.....................image

<< <i>Apmex has dropped the 5 oz puck set from their listing. All you can get is a monster box. Previously it showed the 'alert me' 5 oz pucks and the monster box as two separate items.

They pulled the listing because they have to show the Mint that they sold all their 2010 allotment so they can receive the 2011's per the mint guidelines. The 2011's will ship in two weeks to the APs. >>

So, it is looking more like APMEX went the way of tGC. >>

Indeed. If they really were looking to sell and only had 2 weeks to do it, pulling the ATBs from the website doesn't make much sense.... >>

I sent them an e-mail noting the time and asking when they plan to sell the other sets.

Afterall, they sold 1,000 sets @ 1395, and then turned around and had to sell them 1 at a time. That leaves well over 2,000 sets """"unsold.""""

And not much time left to sell. Odd how that ATB bullion page disappeared completely.

    >>>>>> I suggest everyone here send the same e-mail to them noting the number of unsold sets they ""have"" and asking when they will sell the remaining sets. >>

Has anyone written the Mint lately about Gold Center and APMEX? Maybe we should send a friendly Group letter to the Mint and Congress. There is no way this should go unnoticed!!

Reports on another board of Apmex ATB alerts appearing when they log in.

When I log in to the Apmex site, I don't see an alert even though I signed up on Dec. 9, 2010.

Also rumored to to be slabbed and confusion over the sale date, 4/13 or 5/13.

    Just repeating what I read.

More hoops to jump. That and you have to fill out the W-9 "Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification" form. I did not like giving out my SSN to the first two that required it and I only gave it because I thought all APs would request it. Now that I have a couple sets I do not feel like I have to give out my SSN to another person, even if this is silver for less than spot! I will pass...image

I signed up just hours after the first 1,000 sold and mine is gone.
(Back then, I siged up because I wanted to keep up to date on when they APs were selling.)

    I'm not happy.

    send those e-mails to APMEX.

I'll figure out who is acting director at the mint and we can contact him, too.

Yes you have to pay the shipping fee to a different company after prudential sends them notice your check cleared, I think they sent me regular mail with more info and where to send the 50 bucks. Gonna be fun to see if ampex sells these tomorrow, the other date was a month away and I have a feelin there not going to wait till may. Good luck to all as the final countdown is almost in sight...image I accidently deleted my alert last week for the whole set but all my single requests still show up..............

Why is Prudential making you open a brokerage account in order to by their pucks?

  • << <i>THE ALERT HAD BEEN REMOVED! They will NEVER get another dime from me. >>

I signed up for the alert 4 months ago (mid-December) when APMEX had actually sold less than 1,000 sets to the public.

Looks like APMEX made a fortune off the HSN and shafted many of their long time customers.image

I'll wait to contact the Mint until after I can get a response from APMEX tomorrow.

I have the acting Mint Director's name: Andrew Brunhart. He was the former deputy director (#2 in charge)

If APMEX says they are sold out, the mint hq will definitely hear from me tomorrow and I hope hear from some of you out there, too.

And speaking of hoops, my JH set arrived today. A mixed bag. All heavy die polish. 3 of the 5 had no scratches,
abrasions or marks. The Yo had a couple of tiny scratches on the reverse; the MH has 4-5 light scratches on the
reverse (my pocket/toner piece). Very well packed. Box within a box. Each puck individually wrapped in a #000
Jiffylite Cushioned Mailer: " 100% Recycled paper fibers (10% post consumer), made with Bubble Wrap brand
cushioning which contains 10% recycled plastics ". I'm guessing if you leave these in a sealed box in your closet
for awhile you just might get that double rainbow over Mt Hood you've been yearning for. image

It really is a sickness. Lots of hoops to jump through with PB. It's like going to the olympics.

I find it ridiculous that in order to sell me a set, I need to open an account which I will likely never use again, while having to jump through the hoops as part of the Patriot Act funzone. Meanwhile, I can order a crapload of silver through the government (US Mint, ie, silver proof sets) without nearly as much clowning around. Huh?

My first post....News on the P puck

The US Mint has provided pricing information on the upcoming Hot Springs 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. This is the first of the numismatic or collector versions of the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins.

The price is set at $279.95. The Mint cautions that as with all products containing precious metals, the price is subject to potential change.

Based on a silver price of $40 per ounce, this represents a premium of 40% above metal value. As expected, this is higher than the maximum 10% premium that the US Mint imposed on their authorized purchasers for sale of the bullion versions.

It's interesting to note that the price set by the US Mint is right around the secondary market prices currently being paid for the bullion versions. Recently completed auctions show basic 5 coin sets selling for around $1,400 each, which works out to $280 per coin. (Higher prices are paid for coins which have received high grades or special designations from the grading companies.)

The 2010 numismatic issues will have mintages of 27,000 per design, include the "P" mint mark, and have an uncirculated finish created through a vapor blasting technique. The Hot Springs design is scheduled to go on sale April 28, 2011. The remaining designs will presumably go on sale separately, at later dates.

  • "NOTE: These Coins are in limited supply and are being sold to the American public on a first come-first served basis. Merely because you have received our opening account documents does not imply any firm commitment on the part of PB Financial Services, Inc. to sell you the Coins."

Merely.....Merely......are they kidding? This one takes the cake on hoop jumping. Too much crap....Finally an AP has broken my ATB spirit. I'm officially done with the 2010 bullion ATB sets. Now on to the P version.
  • Has anyone here successfully ordered coins from at least 8 of the 9 APs? I figure getting them from all 9 APs is too difficult because it would have required standing in line at the GC.

My Jack Hunt's arrived yesterday. The Yosemite and Yellowstone are deep, deep DMPLS and both look like 69s. Hot Springs is also very DMPL and will go 68 or 69. Mt Hood is probably a 69 but not very PL at all, and as is usual for me, The Grand Canyon was as dull as can be with very heavy die polish - no chance for a good grade. I won't even send them in any more unless I feel they are solid 68/69 PL/DMPL. It just isn't worth the costs.

I've received sets from 7 of the APs. Prudential can pound sand, or silver ore, or whatever.

DG packaging was pretty pathetic. The pucks were placed in undersized flips and stacked on top of each other. Most of flips split because they were too small. Not very nice coins either.

They are all inside single HUGE mylar flips. All five Mylar flips are packaged in a itty bitty 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 X 1 inch box. This box in inside of a bigger box.
The packaging might worry you when you unbox the coins. No worries though as these DG ATB pucks have been the NICEST coins of all the APs. I have seen multiple DG sets and grade results and ALL graded out higher than the other puck sets !!!!!image
