My Mom's Amark set is shipped and will be here Friday. This will be the first set that has shipped. Amark seems to be the way to go for these. If they continue with the BU PCGS Slabs in the future, I will try to buy from them in the future.
MCM's NGCs MS 69s on ebay are still doing very good.
Amark's are still up for sale though guessing probably about 200 sets left.

So... prices will and have dropped... no surprise there. Question is how far down will they go? Call me nuts, but even at $1400 a set on eBay and assuming you're a flipper, you're still making $200-$300 a set after fees. I dunno about you. but in my world, cash is king! If I'm clipping 50 cent coupons for the supermarket, I'm sure as hell not going to turn down a couple hundred dollars.

These are following the pattern so many moderns travel. Spike-backtrack-?????? I am not saying take advantage of the price drop but it could be one of those opportunities. For full disclosure, I am not getting more than 2 sets because of other spending I have going on but if they dip below $1100 it would seem tempting to get a few more.
Gold and silver are valuable but wisdom is priceless.
Although they still let you put a set in your shopping cart, you now get stopped at a log-in/register screen now. And there's a message about trying again next week.
<< <i>Wow, party looks to be about over & the f trade sets haven't even hit yet. Over faster than i thought. The other ape may take a long time to sell out. Unreal. >>
Unreal? Really? >>
Yes, really. I thought they would not tank until the F Trade sets hit. The singles have really been killed. I was thinking that high grade coins would hold for a good while. I'm not so sure anymore.
I don't begrudge the first-mover big profits. It is what it is.
I would guess there are many more silver collectors than gold and platinum collectors, so comparing this to the First Spouse series and the Burnished APE malaise is a stretch. The GP don't even know these Pucks exist. They haven't entered the market yet. Once the 2010-P collector versions are released and the Mint can concentrate on rolling out the 2011's on schedule and begin advertising in ernest, I think there will be great interest. I've been able to attract a few new collectors based solely on the National Parks theme without much effort.
Even after the rollout of the 2010-P's, the bullion versions should keep a tidy premium. The bullion Pucks may see a drop depending on the Mint's pricing of the P-Pucks but the 2010's will hold their own much like some of the mid-90's ASE have all this time.
<< <i>Yes, really. I thought they would not tank until the F Trade sets hit. The singles have really been killed. I was thinking that high grade coins would hold for a good while. I'm not so sure anymore. >>
The weak flipper hands will be shaken out over the next few weeks, or maybe month. Ultimate pricing won't be clear until the overhang of the "undistributed" APs is resolved. How many of the Jack Hunt, CnT, Dillon Gage and Pru (and APMEX remainders) have actually been distributed out the back door? We have seen evidence that there are some out there, but nobody knows the true numbers that are left in their respective vaults. If most of the 33K sets are already out there (or in the delivery pipeline), I think we'll see the prices stabilize in a month or so and then start creeping back up. However, if there are still a bunch to be sold by the remaining APs, well, the trend is clear for the time being...JMO
They absolutely provided the best packaging I have ever received in a coin shipment and these coins have NOT been picked over. I would guess at least 2 would grade 69. Send them AS IS. It'll cost $30 each to get a grade on them, but you'll get the FS label for free!

I still think that high grades are going to be the undisputed winners in the bullion series.
These things might also get a bump when the mintages for the 2011 5 ozers are released. Of course, we've all been assuming that those mintages will be higher. Quite likely.

with A-mark having to come back with another round of sales (and it taking 12 hours to sell through 500 sets) and MTB and fedlitrade still shipping, (not counting the 3-4 AP's who have not released yet) it does not speak well for the retail demand for these coins, vs. buyers IMO.

Maybe I'm just being a starry eyed optimist...but I think once the larger coin collecting audience becomes aware that the pucks even exist (and can be acquired for less than totally outrageous sums), a new collecting base will firm up. And since everyone on this board is so intimately aware of every market twitch and turn, I think it's fair to say that we don't represent an average sampling of the collecting public.
Not that anyone can really answer this question, but I'm sure the Silver Eagle market also didn't immediately develop fully formed in 1986 either [yeah yeah, I know...apples and oranges].
