Spouses are soft anyway right now. Crank up the supply and look out. Still think the Liberty series and the buch proof have a bright future . I would be a buyer at these levels if I hadn't shot up all my powder. Need to stay away from the shooting range

Just a guess, but it appears there are many more speculators that got into the Buch coins vs. the VB or Jacksons. Until enough of those throw in the towel prices may not average out according to mintages for a while. The Buch UNC are almost going for melt.
Removing the "sugar coating", the bottom line is the "play" was to buy the MS Buchanan for about 60% less when everyone was chasing the proof Buchanan for 60% more. If you hunt down the threads on the Buchanan coins, you will find one where I personally mentioned that exact possible approach at that time. Today, the difference in price is about 10% between the coins and I suspect that difference may even disappear as time goes on. Don't be surprised if the MS coin even slightly surpasses the proof coin in value down the road. I think the Buchanan coins are very good coins down the road. I own plenty of them... mint state and proof. But, the "play" on proof Buchanan at the expense of MS Buchanan last year was simply a "bust". No one gets them all right ... I assume there was "misinformation" at the heart of the miscall.
As always, just my 2 cents.

<< <i>Proof Jackson is a $1400+ coin in NGC-70 so a coin that is lower mintage is a bad coin at say $1100? >>
The Jackson proof has several things going for it that the two lower mintage proofs do not.
For one thing, Jackson is more popular and well known as an historical figure than Van Buren and Buchanan. Consequently, ongoing demand is likely to be higher, as there will be some collectors who want the Andrew Jackson coin but have no interest in the rest of the Liberty subset.
The Jackson Liberty coin, especially the proof, is also the most aesthetically pleasing of the three in both the obverse and reverse (at least IMO).
The Jackson was likely the most widely distributed of the three, as its premature sellout caught most collectors/investors by surprise. The sellout probably encouraged some speculative multiple purchases of the later two issues while they were still available from the Mint.
These three factors combined should easily outweigh the slightly higher mintage of the Jackson proof, in terms of potential future appreciation.

I'm waiting for the numbers in print - not that I dispute the 7100 figure (it is what it is).

Would seem to suggest the $1100 coin will rise or the $1400 coin will fall. Hoping for the first scenerio
