I never thought the day would come when I would want to have a 2005 Topps Yankees team card in my possession so badly!!!!
kshorton says: i gots an Empire State Building card... seeking advice.. is this better and worth more than my psa 3 franco harris 1973 topps card which i defouled by trying to make a baby with ? Please advise. the franco card is graded.. the ESB card is not yet, and I do not want to have a baby with the ESB card.
1952 Randy Gumpert 1955 Bob Skinner1971 Wayne Garrett1972 Dick Drago1979 Jim Gantner1987 John Butcher1987 Wade Boggs1988 Dave Meads1993 Rob Ducey1993 Eric Young2005 Adam Dunn Mostly trading same years, but I'm flexible.
Yeah, still considering it. There are 2 sixties Red Sox in the lot that I can use. As far as having them ship them too me, I'm more into thinking of using those 60s cards to get more Red Sox with than actually having Topps ship them to me.
This would give me about 215 total cards now
I'll brew on it over lunch I guess.
Traded a 65 Yankee common last night for 68 Rico Pertocelli - I was happy with that
Sadly, I just hit what I believe is my biggest hit... a 1959 Billy Martin! lol
I have 60 cards so far. I'm not sure how many I have unlocked myself, because I've made a handful of trades, and not all were 1 for 1.
I'm looking to trade away everything that's newer than 1976 (not including my Ripken cards). If anyone would like to offer a trade, I'm willing to do a multi-card trade for pre-1976 Orioles, or Ripken cards. I'd also be willing to hear any trade offers for the other cards. Thanks!

I purchased a few more packs; so this is an update
This has been my sequence of trades:
1972 Bud Harrelson In action for 1993 Barry Bonds for 1987 Will Clark for 1974 Mel Stottlemyre and 1963 Russ Kemmerer
1993 Roger Pavlik for 1987 Robin Yount
1972 Joe Torre for 1964 Jim King and 1969 JC Martin
This is what I currently have:
1992 Todd Van Poppel
1993 Ed Nunez
2005 Kelvim Escobar
1985 Claudell Washington
2005 Paul Konerko AS
2005 Joel Pineiro
1985 Father-Son Card Schofield
1987 Bob Brenly
1987 Robin Yount
2004 Quinton McCracken
1981 Rich Dauer
1989 Ozzie Smith
Any thing that upgrades these newer cards would be a yes
I also have these "vintage cards"
1957 Paul LaPalme
1958 Jim Grant
1959 Bob Schmidt
1963 Russ Kemmerer
1964 Jim King
1969 JC Martin
1974 Mel Stottlemyre
1976 Tippy Martinez
1978 Dave Rader
Anything that upgrades those "older" cards will be thought of -- and may or may not be a yes.
I will probably buy a few more packs along the way before collecting the haul so I'm still trading away

Plano, Tx. Card Show #5, Sunday March 6, 2016 at Adat Chaverim (Northeast Corner Independence and Spring Creek) in Plano Tx 9Am to 4 PM. See you there!
so the mantle is done via raffle so to speak....is every other card there?
say a 52 mays ?
say a frank thomas nnof ?
???
is there a listing of everything available ? ?
Buying: Topps White Out (silver) letters Alex Gordon 80 Topps Greg Pryor “No Name" 90 ProSet Dexter Manley error 90 Topps Jeff King Yellow back 1958 Topps Pancho Herrera (no“a”) 81 Topps Art Howe (black smear above hat) 91 D A. Hawkins BC-12 “Pitcher”
<< <i>Not only are we giving you back the cards your mom threw out, we're also giving you the chance to win the most famous Topps baseball card, a 52 Mantle plus other great prizes.
Every card you unlock gives you another entry in the drawing for the 52 Mantle, the more codes you enter, the more chances you have to win.
Then starting in April we’ll be awarding special prizes based on the cards you have in collection. Every two weeks we’ll give you challenge, it maybe to collect the most catchers, or the most cards from a specific year or the most cards from a particular team. So keep collecting and trading, prizes will be based on the cards you have in your portfolio at a specific time for each contest. >>
I highly doubt there is a Frank Thomas NNOF.
There doesn't appear to be a list of all of the cards available, but they did say at least one of every card. I'm assuming errors/misprints don't count.
the new york times article said three 52 mantles, so bare minimum, one will be in the 1952 set in the raffle, one will be to the hobby store that wins that promotion and one should be to someone in the actual million card giveaway.
If you goto the trade section search available cards to trade, then just put in mantle, it will show you the mantles which have been awarded. There are only 11. Of note they are '56, '58 all-star, '61 all-star, '62 highlight, '63, '66 & '69. That leaves a good number of mantles left to be found, even if there is only one of each in the deal.

also note that they used to show every card given away separately and they definitely gave away at least 3 1958 All Star Mantles, because I saw that in the search.
They also have given away a Koufax Rookie and a Ernie Banks Rookie. Not sure of what else.
Another interesting search fact is, if you look for a certain rookie card, the card might not pop up by just typing in the name of the player. For example, if you search for a Cal Ripken in 1982, you won't find his RC. If you search for Future Stars in 1982, all of the FS cards show up, and then you have to scroll down to Ripken's RC. This is probably the case with a lot of similar RCs.

Thats true, any card with more then 1 player on it won't be listed by player name. You have to search rookie, rookies, future star, etc.
Are the odds of getting the code cards higher in hobby boxes versus target retail packs? I've been buying the target boxes so I can get the redbacks...am I wasting my time?
Your best bet in retail are the cereal boxes. There is one per box, for $9.99. You could possibly get NONE in a blaster box for $19.99. They are also one PER PACK in the Jumbo Hobby boxes.
for a while there I was doing well getting a card on average of 3 out of every 4 racks. The newer racks have gone back to 1/2. When it was 3/4, that was better than cereal or jumbo.
4 x $5 = 20 / 3 = $6.67
vs. $10 for 1
At 1/2 odds on a rack pack, I'd take the cereal route, at lease you get a refractor. My 2 cents.
There seemed to be a few nice auto's pulled in the last few days, I of course got my A$$ handed to me on the last 20 I unlocked, justa waste of space on the
new list
here is my latest for your browsing pleasure

I think Jumbos are the way to go. For an extra buck over the cereal boxes you've got about a 40% shot at hitting a decent insert (hat logo, logoman, silk, print plate, relic, auto all combine in Jumbos for about 1:2.5 packs)

Finally! I've been waiting weeks to find a forum that people are talking about and listing what cards they are trading for the Topps Million Card Giveaway. It's so hard to trade when you get one chance at asking someone and if they deny it you don't know under what terms they might accept it. Anyways here is my list of cards. Most are up for trade for the right offer. My main things I am collecting are I'm trying to build the 55 set here on the website. Also I've been collecting a 1952 set sense Christmas and while I only buy graded ones I don't mind seeing if I can get a few high numbers on here. So anyways let me know if you would like to trade anything!!

Welcome to the Boards RCRACER299! Yeah, it's a bit of a pain trying to trade a group of your cards for any card from particular year. I only own a handful of cards, most are 70's unfortunately. Well, best of luck trading, I'll be posting what I have for trade somewhere down the line.
I'll reply with the same! LOL FINALLY - you surface! I have been asking around trying to find someone who knew who you were b/c you have made me several offers that I am interested in tweaking to make a deal with you. I just had no way to talk with you. Now we can! Now the saddest part of finally reaching you is that you are making a 55 set, which is exactly what I am doing too! LOL . I've also got 56's going and it looks like you do to. You wanted to trade me some 55s for my 52 Don Lenhardt and my 52 Herman Wehmeier. I am the guy who traded you the 52 Scarborough. I would love to work on some deals with you. Maybe you'd consider working on the 56 set and I could set you with a bunch you don't have for 55s I need? Or we can do something for the other 52s I have that you were interested in? If you would like to discuss over email, that would be easiest. My email is themenards@cox.net. I am wmenard on the TMCG site. It's great to see you here. Welcome!
I have narrowed your list of 55s to reflect what i could use (and 56s). See below... PS - how many of these did you redeem?!?
Bill

kshorton says: i gots an Empire State Building card... seeking advice.. is this better and worth more than my psa 3 franco harris 1973 topps card which i defouled by trying to make a baby with ? Please advise. the franco card is graded.. the ESB card is not yet, and I do not want to have a baby with the ESB card.
<< <i>I wonder what is going to happen once cards start shipping? Any predictions? >>
I'm leaving mine in for a while. Though I may take possession of one of two within the next week or so if I don't trade them. I mainly want a sense of condition, but I'm sure I can get that from other people who pull their cards out. Kinda hard to trade if there isn't anything in there! I suspect most people will pull their vintage cards that aren't building a collection. I don't see the point in paying postage over and over again, so I'll just wait until I think I'm done with the promotion, which probably won't be until after the 2010 season.

Bill, check your email. I got a few 55's and 56's. I agree we can gauge by the reaction of members who receive their cards what condition is like. I'd like to see if the contests spur some trading
I bought 1100 of them off of ebay at $1.25 a piece on average. I have probably entered 675. I sold another 150 on ebay for over $3 a piece. I'm still sitting on about 275 Unredeemed. I will e-mail you bill....btw, you need to make more fair offers! haha, There is a few peoples offers that just by looking at who it is I delete it because I know they aren't making them fair!
Also I am trying to build the 55 set but the 56 cards I have are up for grabs. I also have 6 doubles on my 55's, they are much easier for me to part with. Otherwise if anyone is okay doing even value of my 56's for your 55's or even slightly better for you I am game. I have been making a lot of offers for my $15 54's for peoples $12 55's or similar.
Here are my doubles on the 55's (14, 34, 61, 95, 139, 173)
I also don't plan on shipping until probably the end of the promotion. I'm going to see what the prizes look like! :-)
well a heads up for you guys i never recieved my lot from tntnorthnj .. emailed him 3 times and filed a paypal claim he never responded to. i won the claim got my money back. so he basically backed out of sending me the lot of cards bc of the price jump i guess.
Haven't unlocked too many and traded off most of the modern (the few that I've redeemed).
Have a 1975 Rick Burleson (Red Sox) if you need it Ted. I'm looking for Yankees. Managed to start and end my Celerino Sanchez collection (only has two cards - '73 & '74) swapping out a few '75-79 cards.
Still have a few I haven't unlocked, but waiting to see if there's a run of anything other than the modern sludge.
Did anyone do the ToppsTown thing? Finished that set, but that and $1.81 will get me a large coffee as long as I stay away from Starbucks.

Wow. Sorry to hear that, I bought 200 from him no issues. I also bought 4 Ranger team sets, several Heritage SPs, and a Topps Attax Scott Feldman since you originally asked that question. I wish that hadn't happened to you.

I purchased a few more packs; so this is an update
This has been my sequence of trades:

1972 Joe Torre for 1964 Jim King and 1969 JC Martin
1964 Jim King for 1969 Cesar Tovar
1974 Mel Stottemyre for 1975 Rick Burleson and 1980 Rich Wortham
This is what I currently have:
1992 Todd Van Poppel
1993 Ed Nunez
2005 Kelvim Escobar
1985 Claudell Washington
2005 Paul Konerko AS
2005 Joel Pineiro
1985 Father-Son Card Schofield
1987 Bob Brenly
1987 Robin Yount
2004 Quinton McCracken
1981 Rich Dauer
1989 Ozzie Smith
Any thing that upgrades these newer cards would be a yes without much thought
I also have these "vintage cards"
1957 Paul LaPalme
1958 Jim Grant
1959 Bob Schmidt
1963 Russ Kemmerer
1969 Cesar Tovar
1969 JC Martin

Anything that upgrades those "older" cards will be thought of -- and may or may not be a yes.
I will probably buy a few more packs along the way before collecting the haul so I'm still trading away

Hey Ryan, can you resend me your last message? I accidentally deleted it and I received it on my cellphone, where my account is set up just to expunge anything I delete, so I don't even have the option of going into deleted messages folder to get it back! Thanks! Bill
PS - there is private message (PM) option on here that you can enable (if you want to!). This way people can message you directly without posting a thread. Sorry guys, I wouldn't normally post like this, but I need that message

Strike that (if you saw it!). Looks like the 52 Mantle is showing up as a pic of cards available, but it's not showing as something that you can trade for. Wonder what's up with that. So I don't actually know if it has or has not been pulled (I could see Topps blocking the card from trade offers for the sake and sanity of the person who got it!).

<< <i>Where is the 1952 Mantle listed? Don't see it! >>
Ugh. My post update didn't happen in time! LOL...
If you do a search for Mantle, 1956. Then click the picture, it will show you, supposedly, other Mantles that have been unlocked. The 52 and 57 show up, along with a bunch of others. BUT if you do search for just the 1952 Mantle, it says not found. So anyway, it's a bit confusing. I could see Topps blocking the 52 from trade offers (because the person who has it would be crushed with 1988 Al Nipper type offers for it), but I would think the 57 would be open to trades. So it's weird. Not sure what's up with this.

<< <i>That's a tough call, but I think I might have to keep that Kaat if I were you. >>
I'd keep the Kaat! .50 shipping as opposed to $26.50 shipping for all the commons
This would give me about 215 total cards now
I'll brew on it over lunch I guess.
Traded a 65 Yankee common last night for 68 Rico Pertocelli - I was happy with that
I have 60 cards so far.
Thanks!

Has anyone received anything worth noting (trades don't count) in the last two weeks?
I purchased a few more packs; so this is an update
This has been my sequence of trades:
1972 Bud Harrelson In action for 1993 Barry Bonds for 1987 Will Clark for 1974 Mel Stottlemyre and 1963 Russ Kemmerer
1993 Roger Pavlik for 1987 Robin Yount
1972 Joe Torre for 1964 Jim King and 1969 JC Martin
This is what I currently have:
1992 Todd Van Poppel
1993 Ed Nunez
2005 Kelvim Escobar
1985 Claudell Washington
2005 Paul Konerko AS
2005 Joel Pineiro
1985 Father-Son Card Schofield
1987 Bob Brenly
1987 Robin Yount
2004 Quinton McCracken
1981 Rich Dauer
1989 Ozzie Smith
Any thing that upgrades these newer cards would be a yes
I also have these "vintage cards"
1957 Paul LaPalme
1958 Jim Grant
1959 Bob Schmidt
1963 Russ Kemmerer
1964 Jim King
1969 JC Martin
1974 Mel Stottlemyre
1976 Tippy Martinez
1978 Dave Rader
Anything that upgrades those "older" cards will be thought of -- and may or may not be a yes.
I will probably buy a few more packs along the way before collecting the haul so I'm still trading away

<< <i>the new york times article said three 52 mantles, so bare minimum, one will be in the 1952 set in the raffle, one will be to the hobby store that wins that promotion and one should be to someone in the actual million card giveaway.

also note that they used to show every card given away separately and they definitely gave away at least 3 1958 All Star Mantles, because I saw that in the search.
They also have given away a Koufax Rookie and a Ernie Banks Rookie. Not sure of what else.
<< <i>Another interesting search fact is, if you look for a certain rookie card, the card might not pop up by just typing in the name of the player. >>

I've been buying the target boxes so I can get the redbacks...am I wasting my time?

4 x $5 = 20 / 3 = $6.67
vs. $10 for 1
At 1/2 odds on a rack pack, I'd take the cereal route, at lease you get a refractor. My 2 cents.

<< <i>for a while there I was doing well getting a card on average of 3 out of every 4 racks. The newer racks have gone back to 1/2. When it was 3/4, that was better than cereal or jumbo. 4 x $5 = 20 / 3 = $6.67 vs. $10 for 1 At 1/2 odds on a rack pack, I'd take the cereal route, at lease you get a refractor. My 2 cents. >>
I think Jumbos are the way to go. For an extra buck over the cereal boxes you've got about a 40% shot at hitting a decent insert (hat logo, logoman, silk, print plate, relic, auto all combine in Jumbos for about 1:2.5 packs)
.

Wow really?
Have a 1975 Rick Burleson (Red Sox) if you need it Ted. I'm looking for Yankees. Managed to start and end my Celerino Sanchez collection (only has two cards - '73 & '74) swapping out a few '75-79 cards.
Still have a few I haven't unlocked, but waiting to see if there's a run of anything other than the modern sludge.
Did anyone do the ToppsTown thing? Finished that set, but that and $1.81 will get me a large coffee as long as I stay away from Starbucks.
<< <i>well a heads up for you guys i never recieved my lot from tntnorthnj .. emailed him 3 times and filed a paypal claim he never responded to. i won the claim got my money back. so he basically backed out of sending me the lot of cards bc of the price jump i guess. >>
Wow. Sorry to hear that, I bought 200 from him no issues. I also bought 4 Ranger team sets, several Heritage SPs, and a Topps Attax Scott Feldman since you originally asked that question. I wish that hadn't happened to you.

This is my current status with the giveaway
I purchased a few more packs; so this is an update

1958 Jim Grant
1959 Bob Schmidt
1963 Russ Kemmerer
1969 Cesar Tovar

I will probably buy a few more packs along the way before collecting the haul so I'm still trading away
Rich
Are you willing to trade either of your Hi # 52's?
What would it take?
Thanks for considering!
I am working on 52's and 53's so I'd like to keep those

<< <i>1952 Mantle has been given out.
1957 as well. Damn. Condition looks really really nice on both of them too if those are the actual cards. Congrats to someone! >>
That makes me think more than one '52 Mantle may make its way out.

At least 3 '52 Mantle's according to Topps. Its interesting that are very few Willie Mays and Roger Maris unlocked compare to Mantle.
