A picture of your coin will be sent back with the slab, on the photo they will have the areas that reduce the coins grade noted on the pic. Luster and toning can also be noted in a check box.
No more will you look at your coin and go " they don't no how to grade, this is a 65 all day long", you will have the facts right in front of you.
That's my left field guess, but I bet a lot of people would like it.

PCGS will accept your coin and grade it but to prevent future counterfeiting, they will keep the coin for you and issue you a piece of paper stating "You now own an MS-65 coin"!!
Save $$$ on many purchases to include EBAY and EBay Stores.
After reading all the wild guesses here, any bets that whatever DH finally announces will be a big letdown?
I agree. So many of us have given our first thoughts that what is left cant be that great.
DH, give us a hint, otherwse this is going to turn out like Star Wars Episode I: All the hype only to be let down in the end, which may just explode in PCGS's face in the end.
CLCT will buy GM from the government and rename cars after coins to help promote the hobby. They will then fire the person responsible for calling their new, underpowered hybrid the "Walker."
<< <i>DH, give us a hint, otherwse this is going to turn out like Star Wars Episode I: All the hype only to be let down in the end, which may just explode in PCGS's face in the end. >>
All I can think of now is that somehow Jar Jar Binks is involved.
Me at the Springfield coin show:
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
Yeah. With respect to M&A, the short answer is no. I don't see anything attractive one way or the other there. And may be a brief stroll down history lane would be helpful. This business came public. It dominates its industry. It is a small cottage industry. It raised capital to expand its wings, not once but twice. Both of those initiatives ended up destroying substantial shareholder value. And I think this Board and certainly me are going to heed the lessons of that history and think very, very carefully about any type of M&A activity.
Certainly, in an outbound visit and we know these businesses well. David Hall founded this Company over 25 years or 23 years ago. And so we don't believe there's anything that would require substantial capital that we should or could do on the M&A front in our current, under our current strategy and leadership. There might be a small database that we pick up for a couple hundred thousand dollars but nothing of size."
Any guesses as to what the small database would be?
Another quote from Michael,
"There are other initiatives that are under way and I hope to be in a position to share two of those on our next conference call, maybe three. But what I can share with you is that all of these fall into the category of not requiring a large amount of capital, having very, very high returns and being closely related to the strengths of our core operations all of which should meaningfully impact baseline business for our fiscal year 2011."
You send a coin to PCGS for grading and they keep it. You can sell it, soemone else can buy it but the coin stays at PCGS. This the way the authenticity can't be questioned.

Also I guess my other question is the PCGS boards, specifically some postings from David Hall regarded kind of said that he was very excited about some upcoming announcements that he called the “big one". What is the likelihood that there will be a meaningful impact in this current fiscal year from the – kind of big one or these events that are supposed to kind of new developments in the company's business?
Michael McConnell
First, let me congratulate you for trolling about the website. And look it is we believe it to be something that is meaningful and I referred at the end of my comments that hopefully next quarter to be in a position to tell you what that is. What I'm – I'm not going to be specific, Adam, because we are not sure, because of the newness of this initiative – what impact it will have. I am very confident that it will be positive, but I'm reluctant to tell you in the near-term whether it will be largely positive or modestly positive. Net, net it is good for the shareholders of this company over the long-term, I believe. And I think you are just going to have to wait until that news comes out.

How about this from left field; PCGS is instituting a new religion. “Premium Coin Graven Sect”
One of religion’s definitions is: a set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader, or a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects.
HRH will be announced as the first Patriarch of the Coin. All coins blessed at the altar of PCGS will gain in value and prestige.
Coin doctoring and counterfeiting will no longer be crimes; they will now be sins!
I hear, that it is going to be so biiiiggggg, it might end all life.....as we know it. possibly the only creatures left will be the Norwegian Rat and various crustaceans and a few vermin.
I haven't read all the replies. Here is what I would like to see: PCGS creates a coin auction site like ebay to compete at fair and reasonable fees compatible with coin sales margins. --jerry
PCGS is going to wipe eBay off the map by opening up a "LIVE BID BOARD" for coins. The linked thread is the catalyst for this bold move and I'm all for it, too
Sorry if someone already guessed this, but PCGS will have a site where for a small fee anyone can post images of any coin and PCGS graders' will issue a grade based upon that photo. There will be a printable label to show that it has been online graded.

Now.....there is a great idea!
I'm the Proud recipient of a genuine "you suck" award dated 1/24/05. I was accepted into the "Circle of Trust" on 3/9/09.
How about... you'll designate all documented varieties, not just the ones in the CPG?
Or... wait... I got it.... drumroll please....
Every coin graded by PCGS will be imaged, ranked within it's particular grade, and the image of the coin will be put into the CoinFacts website under each date/mintmark/designation, etc so that the owner of each coin would know exactly where their coin sat under a particular grade... the registry would require the coins to be re-evaluated and put into the system to figure out how many points a coin would get... and PCGS would have to verify all previously graded coins to verify status... all 18 million. At the same time, the new anti-counterfeit slabs would be introduced. The coins would also have all known auction sales linked to the individual coin to show the actual auction prices of coins. You might kill a couple of 800 lb gorillas that way.
Whatever it is... good luck with it.

Yep, already posted that one awhile back...and I am not going to split the $1000
Still thinking it has to be something to do with how the coins will be graded. A new 3d laser grading system. Ok I have to stop thinking about this now and get some
Coins will be digitally remastered like an old Beetles song and stored in secure triple redundant PCGS digital archives. If coin is ever damaged, dipped, doctored, or lost, PCGS will just replicate a new one. --Jerry

How about ......
(1) PCGS will use DataDot technology to uniquely identify each and every authentic coin that they would grade. The Datadot will go into the coin itself and not on the slab. This will discourage us from cracking the coin out of the slab and resubmitting the coin because the coin can be identified and all previous grades and cert numbers are recorded. This technology when used with photo archive of the coins can potentially eliminate fake coins and slabs. The same technology is currently used to identify genuine casino chips and to identify all parts of your car. This can also make the pop reports more accurate.
or
(2) From date of announcement, membership to ANA or Collectors Club will no longer be required to submit coins to PCGS for grading.
I don't think I'm close but I just want to have a stab at HRH's personal check.
A pocket dimension where you can store your coins without any fear of theivery. While in the pocket dimension the coins will be graded by PCGS, but due to the laws of the space/time continiuum (I'm too tired to spell that properly) the grade results are instantanous if you leave the dimension and come back right away.
Some sort of device that lets your coin talk- you deposit it in this machine, and due to the magic of science you get a printout that tells you where and when your coin has been places, who has been in possesion of it, etc.
As much as the latter may be more science fiction then science fact right now, I would bet in 200 years or so that will be legitimate. One of the things about sf is that so many visionaries predict things to happen far too soon. You look at concepts from the 1950s and they had us in flying cars and living on Mars by the 1990s. That didn't happen (that we know about!) so I am giving it 200 years instead of say, 30.
If this post is still archived at some point by then, my descendants darn well better be getting royalties, or I swear I will be doing some haunting.
I'm not sure what's worse...the fact that I am posting this, or the fact that I have some basic schematics for the machine in my head and cound translate them to paper if I so desired. Maybe I will do just that. After all, Michelangelo did stuff like that and while so many of them didn't occur in his lifetime, many have come true and he is now recognized for the genius he is, or, was.
