I'm still a big fan of PCGS, but this announcement certainly didn't live up to the hype. I was expecting to hear an entirely "new way" of grading coins... not just a new, optional level of service that only makes sense to certain collectors. The thing that I am most upset about, is that I have been holding off on my modern coin submissions, to wait and see what was going to happen but it turns out that I was waiting for nothing... anyway, I guess I should at least be happy that I don't have to re-submit all of my PCGS coins just to keep up with the Jonses (which I was prepared to do, by the way). Mr Hall, if you're reading this, I'm still waiting to see a better, more scratch-proof holder design, that allows for better edge viewing; and which also can accommodate larger coins (i.e. 2 and 5 oz coins). A better Guarantee on World coins (particularly Chinese Coins) would be very welcome also. Fun Thread!
....OK. Something about + PQ coins and a couple other things I'm guessing from other thread titles. Sorry I'm not "on it" like many others. I don't frequent like I used to.
along with detection of the metals on the surface of the coins will come the ability to predict if a gold coin has a surface impurity that might spot.... thus making a yet to be graded coin ineligible for a future spot review.

Bushmaster if you bothered to read the whole thread instead of coming to your own conclusion you'd find the answer.
HRH not only paid out $1K for the member who's guess was close, but also tossed more monies in the pot for a few others who came close.
