PCGS gets rid of the holder altogether. They have a technology that will allow coins they grade to be instantly authenticated via internet...

PCGS purchases the bankrupt state of California. Renames it California by Collectors Universe.
And to promote this stunning new development:
The town of Hollywood is renamed DavidHallyWood. Venice Beach is renamed Willis Beach. The town of Winters is renamed DougWinter San Joaquin county is renamed San Julian county. The city of Thousand Oaks is renamed Thousand RonGuths. Carlsbad gets renamed CarolJ Ojai, we will rename Otis.
Thanks to "ICOLLECTINEEDHELP" for the original idea.
They already renamed the Sears Tower here in Shy-town the "Willis Tower!"

A change in the way coins are graded in holders... For example, a coin that grades MS60 to MS69 will also have a (+ or -) for eye appeal. A special 25th anniversary PCGS labels will also be used in the holders...
PCGS has determined that us Collectors don't have enough clout to get Congress to ban Ebay from allowing Chinese Counterfeits the way the Canadian's Collectors did. Therefore, the Brilliant Mr Willis et el knows the power of " If you can't beat em, join em ". Beginning appropriately enough, the new service will begin April 1st. PCGS will slab chinese coins as "Looks Great". They have an exclusive right from the Chinese Gov to buy all the Counterfeits by the ton, effectively lowering their cost to 25¢ each, then selling them to Collectors for $29 with the power of plastic. We're all Happy because it removes the scammers out of the Market.
I am not checking past responses, but I will say: Magnification lens on all slabs!!! Tracking chip containing all info about the coin!!! I hope for a PCGS auction Site !!!
Just a comment ... For a $1000 bill PCGS was able to suck out the knowledge of so many collectors. I would hope that the ideas generated here would be taken into consideration and should be implemented by PCGS or other grading companies. Many great ideas are here. PCGS started a think tank of ideas for $1000.00. That is an achievement all in its own. Nice job PCGS .. Oh! Please give credit for the other ideas that you may use over time from this exercise. If this was your idea I am impressed it worked.
I had a thought, thinking out of the box and left field,
Mr. Hall, is your surprise that PCGS will become the official grading service of the Chinese Government and no longer will collectors have to send in coins for grading but rather they can be custom made to order?
A online library where every coin reference book can be read...tie this in with all the sales data and population reports they already have. Fee for site use.
A "Bid Board" (aka "enhanced BST") whereby PCGS acts as the middle man/escrow service for anyone wanting to sell their PCGS slabbed coins. This eliminates the fear of purchasing a coin in a counterfeit PCGS slab as PCGS would recognize any bogus slabs sent to them for listing. Of course, this would probably piss off the big auction houses, but it's numismatic Darwinism at its best!
Now, for my most profound and prescient guess: PCGS has worked a deal with the US Mint whereby the mint will send to PCGS the first coin struck from each set of dies for grading and slabbing. The label will read "Really Truly Genuine Numero Uno First Strike"
My suspicions are that if they do what I have predicted (start decimal or +/- grading and eliminate consensus grading in lieu of weighted average blind grading) they will announce that for some period of time you can submit your coins for free to see if they would benefit by re-submission. This will be done only for a limited time to pacify anyone who complains about the move being done only for re-submissions to line PCGS' pockets.
Announcement time on the PCGS website is less two hours away.
<< <i>My suspicions are that if they do what I have predicted (start decimal or +/- grading and eliminate consensus grading in lieu of weighted average blind grading)
So if PCGS does decimal point grading how will it effect the registry? Will my 65.9 coin get me more points than my 65.8 coin?
I've been thinking about what improvements could be made to the coin market vis a vis PCGS. Ya know, something that would be good for the market/public AND for PCGS.
One problem in the marketplace is selling coins. Coin shows are often far away and not often enough. Coin shops are not the best way to sell your coins. Etc., etc.
Something like eBay but owned and run by a coin company to get rid of the riff raff and pollution coins.
So, one improvement would be a PCGS owned and operated coin trading platform on the internet.
I would design it as follows.
You take your coins to an authorized PCGS coin photographer who photographs your coins and puts them up on the PCGS coin trading network. You can retain possession of your coins while you have them for sale.
You can auction them with reserve, without reserve, for 3 days, 7 days, two weeks or a month. Or you can put them up for a fixed price.
You're severely penalized (something like a fine or not being able to post coins for 6 months) if you put a coin up and don't take it down if you sell it outside of the PCGS trading platform.
Imagine how much money PCGS would make if they could make even 5% on each coin transaction.
This supplements, not supplants, my other predictions.

Sounds like a good idea, but use TrueView photos instead of PCGS authorized photographer. And PCGS certified coins only. PCGS could even act as middleman in large transactions, collecting coin and money and distributing when both are received.
Is it to late for a last minute guess? If not, I predict that part of the Big One will be the allowance of NGC, and possibly ANACS slabs into the CU Registry program.
I posted the scanning into the database half of the Big One....Way back at the beginning half of the thread...I have my forum set up at 50 posts per page and I think it's about page 3 or 4!
The Big One is too Big to reveal and this secure plus isn't anywhere near left field. Remember it was really two major ones and a minor one... secure plus and PQ in the new barcode... that's 2 of 3....
the other one they are hiding: hiring chinese counterfeiters for counterfeit detection.
it is sophisticated enough to recognize the front half of one coin paired off with the reverse of another. (even though the seam would likely be detected, PCGS would know which coins took the hit.)

Guesses:
PCGS will start to net grade problem coins
PCGS will move locations
PCGS will change their holders to help defeat counterfeiting.
Announcement time on the PCGS website is less two hours away.
See you in Ft. Worth.....probably.
Back from Costa Rica for the announcement in Ft. Worth?
A + sign would be OK but a - sign would only create a whole group of unsaleable coins.
I can not believe that PCGS will do either of these things,,,, we will see shortly.
