Doug what was the process to get those signed? They are great? Did you have to donate money? Just curious you don't see Dalai Lama Auto's everyday.

....So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one -- big hitter, the Lama -- long, into a ten-thousand foot crevice, right at the base of this glacier. And do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga...gunga -- gunga galunga.

I'm pretty sure they are real. I compared them to some already slabbed in PSA/DNA holders and they look like the real thing.

In addition, each of the autos is a bit different, so I do not think an autopen has been used.

Very strange return in the mail today. This card was sent to Mr. McRae on December 1, 2009.

Today, almost NINE HUNDRED DAYS later, it comes back unsigned.

But did yours come back signed? Mine did not. I just noticed that on the back of the envelope sent back to me someone wrote "Not living at this address". Very strange. It is the address that is still listed on whitepages.com as well as a couple of the paid subscription address sites. OH WELL!

Yes Bobby, it's his dad. FYI, Gene Mauch was his uncle.
I don't think you will be seeing me posting a Dick Groat or any other Hi # for quite a while, unless I get it for a real good price!

DOUG - You are right, they do look a lot like the on card sigs!

SHANE - it would be nice to be able to add one of the Hi#d autos to your collection. Which 4 Cardinals are they?
Edited to add: I figured it out:#334 Vinegar Bend Mizell; #378 Les Fusselman; #386 Eddie Yuhas; #398 Hal Rice

    Doug,
LOVE the Billy Herman!!! I have always collected Billy Herman cards. Right when I started getting into collecting, my father told me how he knew someone in the baseball hall of fame. Stay with me here: His cousin's ex-wifes uncle was Billy Herman. I immediately started collecting his cards, got his autograph a few times, and met him a handful of times when he was in Cooperstown. I would always joke with people that I was related to him.

An autographed 52 has always been a white whale for me. Do you mind sharing how much you paid?

Another great pickup Doug!!! I'll apologize in advance for my ignorance, but was that photo of Larry Jansen reversed? Was he signifying 52 or was it meant to be 25? Thanks for feeding my curiousity. image

Mike ... here is one explanation I could find as to why the 2 + 5:
The faded backdrop could be stadium seating--or the ribbed lifeboat of a sinking ship. "No problem," says Larry, "we've got room for seven more!" (According to my best research methods--talking with vintage collectors over pizza--Mr. Jansen fathered seven children, hence his photo pose for this seminal set.)
