That is pretty funny I was thinking the same thing. From recent experience, the day after a holiday is usually pretty good for returns.

My life sucks... no mail to check today. I really hope the USPS does not cut Sat. deliveries like some have suggested they do... could you imagine going 3 days without mail!

UNREAL response today. By far the most I ever received in one day ... TWENTY-THREE!!!!!

22 signed and only one did not.

I have to get some work done and then I will scan the results .... probably won't be up until
about 6 or 7 pm eastern time.

OK ... here we go ... By far the most TTMs I have received back in one day. Being a New YAWKA my entire life,
more than half f these are old time METS and YANKEES. HOPE YOU ENJOY!

First, the only one who did not sign. I thought that tax evasion jail time would get him to
sign for free. He does not, but at least his fee is going to a good cause.

Great returns Doug! You have put me to shame. Looks like I'll have to send a bunch just to keep up. image
  • Great stuff! I'm getting the itch to try one. Where do we get the list?

    I use StarTiger.com

I believe it is only $35 for the year.

They have hundreds of thousands of addresses for athletes and celebrities.

True that! I can spend 100 bucks on an unopened box and get worthless garbage. I can spend 30 bucks on cards and 70 in shipping costs and end up with a BUNCH of autos. It's a ton of fun opening the mail so much that it turned my collecting focus upside down! Ive never enjoyed the hobby more than now.
  • Doug:

Man that's nice. I enjoyed it so much I couldn't believe there were 23 of them...had to go back and count them. Found myself saying that can't possibly be all of them. Congratulations... I have started sending out cards to past NY Giant players and will start next with Yankees. Met Phil Simms once and sent him a 5x7 of the two of us and really hopes he signs it!

Unbelievable how many handwritten personal responses you got, makes it even more fun...

Great returns. Both guys are class acts.

Turley is also a millionaire that made his fortune after baseball with Primerica Financial Services.

    Per Wikipedia
In 1964, Turley spent one season as pitching coach of the Red Sox before leaving baseball. Later on Turley became a Representative for Primerica Financial Services earning more than he did as a professional baseball player. (In the 1995 version of the Primerica Financial Independence Council it states that he was paid $150,000 as a professional baseball player compared to his $2,000,000 that he earned through working with Primerica). He retired from the business and gave half of his business to his son and the other half to his secretary. He now resides in his lush home located in the state of Georgia.

    Mike and Todd,

You guys are both so right ... I can't imagine too many current ballplayers (even bench guys) thanking ME for
asking them for an auto. There are quite a few other letters that I received from players very similar to
Mr. Harris' letter. Those were different times.
