So.......if this coin is available all year, and they are lagging behind on making them. an order placed in december, and not filled until next february, will be filled with a 2009 coin stuck in 2010. But yet, thats illegal. so at some point they will catch up.
see the line or reasoning here...? at some point this will be a no waiting sale.
However Pitney Bowes got the contract is beyond me. For you that don't know Pitney Bowes primary business is manufacturing office mail room equipment such as meter postage machines, meters, scales, folders, inserters etc. If I posted what I really think of PB's they would sue me. I competed against them for many years during my work life, retired now.

To all that have gotten their UHRs or have gotten their shipping notices: You lucky dawgs!
I'm speculating that the delivery order will be as they are and have been: Luck of the draw for all orders between Jan 22 and Feb 23 (most likely to the current order, though).
I have no choice but to wait patiently until my order gets drawn (hopefully within the promised 9 months - dang, thats like the time my wife got pregnant then waiting for the baby).

Fishing is not a matter of life and death.......It's much more important than that........
mint in dc called about lost package... can't read signature but still claims no person works there by that name... delivery city not in web site and they question if it was really delivered or not... "suspicious"
"file a claim"
gave PBGS type excuses for fifo: "varying holds" -> hours laters orders may have had shorter hold time... but it is 1 per so why would all these people be passed over due to a "hold" "researching 1 per household" -> wouldn't that apply to all orders?
"uhhh... I'm not really working on that issue, I'm just offering what could be happening"
edit: FedEx has a bit more info in their system than on the web site... not only does it show the address of delivery... the driver added "US Mint"
so... I got that faxed from FedEx and faxed to the mint person's office who called me... we'll see if they credit me.
This sucks so bad it's beyond comprehension. What I am afraid of is that those of us who put up with the website fu&*-ups in the first few hours of ordering will not get ours from the first batch of 29,000 minted. We are trapped in a black hole of no return. They won't get to ours until they have plowed through all those orders after ours. We know that there have been around 49,000+ orders to date and 29,000 or so minted. With the LIFO method that PBGS is using, it looks like the first 20,000 orders will be SOL and have to wait until April or May or whenever the mint can come up with enough slugs to mint more. This really sucks big-time.

Maybe the early orders were boxed and are sitting in a locked cage with coins already in them.

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

That is exactly the problem. People dealing with the U.S. Mint have the expectation of high quality customer service. They follow the rules, and spend a considerable amount of money and premiums with the expectations that their transactions will be handled in a highly professional manner. Unfortunately, the mint again and again proves themselves incapable of even coming close to meeting those expectations.
In fact, not only with the UHR release but the 20th AGE/ASEs handle customers with disregard, offering virtually nothing but half-hearted apologies. Not only are supposed, "Customer Care Representatives" incapable of offering information, but their supervisors are unable to offer anything of substance as well.
Well here's something for those of you who want to express your complaints about this: Ask to speak with the Mint's Office of Public Affairs, Mr. Michael White who is in Washington.
<<Maybe the early orders were boxed and are sitting in a locked cage with coins already in them. >>
I don't think this is the case, chiefly because of the book problem. If they were already boxed up and ready, they would be out the door. But we are reasonably sure that the reason for the delay was that the books were defective. People now are receiving UHRs both with and without the book. The only constant is that nobody here that managed to get their order in during the first couple of hours has received anything.
For what it's worth I ordered mine about midnight EST (12 hours past the start time) Order #: 308647XX.
Got the confirmation last night that it has been shipped.
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector. Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
Dont forget the distance from Indianapolis compared to where you live. Shipping is also related to how good your local delivery people are, no matter the delivery system used. I suspect most everyone will have their coins by this time next week, including people who bought well after the first couple of days.
Retired United States Mint guy, now working on an Everyman Type Set.
Well I just picked mine up off my front porch where it was left by UPS. Had to leave work, lucky I only live a few miles away. Still can't believe they are leaving $1200 gold coins unattended! It's a heavy white square box. Order #3087XXXX, ordered 1-23 around noon.

Just no the few of us that managed to order in the first half hour.
Another funny thing. I have a subscription for American Presidential coins. I made this subscription probably day one it came out. My father does NOT have one and placed his order the second day they went on sale. He has his in hand already and I just received an email yesterday stating I'll receive mine in two to four weeks. I mean what is the point of having a subscription to these and receiving them after someone placing an order after they go on sale. Complete and utter incompetence going on at the mint.
One thought I had was: perhaps the planned, original packaging was dependent on BOTH the coin and book being included. Once they realized the book was a NO GO, they halted shipment because of the prearranged packaging that, without the book, was also useless until new books were printed. They hurriedly had to arrange new boxing for the coin alone, now we're seeing the results. That result being these unsealed, white boxes like Sumorada's buddy received and another person also mentioned. I still would like to know why/if PCGS is really accepting unsealed boxes for FS designation. What a joke.
btw, did we ever find out if the white boxes are arriving with signature required?

Why do you consider it a joke ??? The policy has always been that if post marked to PCGS by the cut off date , the coin can be sent in a flip , or capsule . The coin only needs to be shipped in the original mint box , still sealed if post marked after the cut off date ( be it 1 day or 1 year ) .

Does anyone have the contact names and phone numbers of some people actually at the us mint offices in washington? Not the yahoo's that answer the usmint catalog 800 number... I recall a couple years ago that they were listed here and I was trying to find but have been unable. To get to the bottom of anything we have to call them, only they would have the power to change shipping order.

Why not email the president of PBGS? Or someone with some pull there. Tell them to ship our F ing orders and to follow mint policy for FIFO. Not that it'll do any good..

So unless you call the Mint directly you don't know if your order is still active or it has been lost in the computer someplace. The website for order history should be up by now. This is a total disgrace to the Mint.
"Well here's another nice mess you have gotten me into" Oliver Hardy 1930
Hello all, my order was placed within 35 minutes on 1/22 and have not received an email about UHR being shipped. Spoke with customer service earlier and asked when mine would ship, was told by 4/24. I mentioned other customers with higher numbers have either rec'd their coin or rec'd an email that it is being shipped. She denied that this was happenning and I informed her again that it was and someone needs to investigate this.
Also, this is the president's email address at Pitney Bowes, got if from their website: matthew.broder@pb.com
didn't the Mint "re-align" their computer operations back during the period when the first First Spouse or two had come out? it's a vague memory now...help!
My guess would be that those of us who ordered early have our coins; in boxes; with the original and "fouled up" book ... either being torn open and having the books removed and subsequently repackaged. Or being ignored until such time as they get the other shipments which hadn't already been boxed out the door.
