<< My guess would be that those of us who ordered early have our coins; in boxes; with the original and "fouled up" book ... either being torn open and having the books removed and subsequently repackaged. Or being ignored until such time as they get the other shipments which hadn't already been boxed out the door. >>

Both reasonable assumptions - but you would think that those in power that make such decisions (i.e. delay for the first orders until books are ready or whatever) would realize that most of us are coin collectors and wouldn't give a rat's a$$ about the book. Despite numerous contacts and complaints, the explanations coming out of the bureaucracy (when you can get someone) have been inconsistent, evasive or down-right lies to this point. Even on the rare occasion when they (PBGS) has admitted to the problem (LIFO or its cousin RIFO - Random In First Out), it dioesn't seem to bother them in the least and nothing is/has been done to correct the problem nor are there any indications that the problem is being worked on. All we continue to get is more evidence (anecdotal to this point, I realize, but some very trustworthy board members supposedly have theirs on the way now) that more and more late orders are being fulfilled.
  • I know a number of board members who have posted that they were told by Mint CSRs that their coin will not ship until 4/24.

The current Mint site for the UHR says shipping will be 5/24. Is the Mint already estimating/rounding up to the next month?!!!

*or have some of us been misinformed by the Mint, again? ...is what I was getting at.

  • Received mine at 10:15 by D&R Delivery Service. No signature required.

I was home, so no worry.

They even shipped overnight at the $4.95 standard shipping fee.

Seems like they're shipping anyway, just in reverse order sequence. Hope they get them out in time
for everyone that got their orders in early.

    Bob

That would be for orders placed today.

That's what it used to mean, who knows now...

    Well, I just called.

    Nothing much to report.

I said my buddy got his and he ordered the second day and I wanted to make sure my order was still there.

She didn't have much to say except that they are shipping and I'll get mine.

I asked if they could push my through or if she could see if it was going to ship, like the next day, nada, no insight.

So that's that, I'd say, don't waste your time calling.

Everyone is hung up on this 29,000 minted. Do we know that this is all they have minted? They may have minted another 20,000 while we were waiting for the last month. Enough to cover all the orders foe the first two days?

I am just plain frustrated. Like many of you, I went through the slow painful crashing order system to get my order in the first half hour. I was happy when I realized that I had one of the first 2,000 orders. I was already to make my first First Strike coin, not for flipping, but for my collection using the CC special. I became frustrated when I learned that some had shipped early and the First Strike deadline was established. Now I am pi$$ed off and ready to hurt someone learning that first order is the last out and may take it beyond the First Strike deadline.image

My package was delivered at 0915 this morning, via the
    nice brown truck people; UPS.

The package was placed on the stoop (Carl's word) the bell rang
once, and the driver drove off. No signature required.

I ordered late on the 22nd, 2048 (pm)...

    It's sooooooo Cool!

Well thats what pisses me off about this. I want the FS Coin for my collection , not to flip like alot of money grubbing people in this world. Thats why I ordered early so I could guarantee myself this option. People who buy these things just to flip and make a quick buck can kiss my a$$.
  • It's almost as if they're trying to burn all the flippers on eBay, especially the ones that posted how far in front of the queue they were. Wouldn't surprise me at all...

It may not be fair... but at least the UHR's are now shipping and the mint is trying to get caught up. Eventually I would like to believe that FIFO will be restored.

I will wait like every other early order (within the first 20 mins) for mine to ship, but it does no good to constantly complain or call, nothing is going to change until they catch up.

You're inferring something I never said, but it certainly seems as though the Mint has it in for the first hour folks for some reason (me included). I remember reading all the descriptions on eBay showing off how early in the queue they were. Could this have irked some folks at the Mint? Maybe. So try not to take every comment as personally directed at you... thanks

Don't call the Mint, call your Critters.

This is the sort of thing right up their alley: a not-so-pressing issue nationally, but one by which they can score some quick points with constituents, merely by making a gruff phone call (or, more likely, having a staffer do it).

Not just the first hour. My order 30835XXX finally went through @ 1/22/2009 1:07 PM. I waded through the entire hour because I also bought rolls of the Native American dol. and Kennedy Halves, so i take responsibility for not being quick on the draw. I wasn't intent on sending it in for grading anyway (though I'm considering it now, if it arrives in time). It's a keeper for me. I'm still waiting with most of you all.

I wish the mint would just holder their coins for collectors, no need to grade, just a bar code with coin info and batch date (that would eliminate this FS mania). I'm sure they could come up with something that would look nice in their packaging. Then if the buyer wanted to get the coin graded they could do it now or ten years from now (even for FS), no questions asked, provided they didn't bust it out. I'm sure that would over stress the mint, why convenience the collector right?

Methinks it would also urinate quite heavily on the business models and revenue of PCGS and NGC, seeing as slabbing is sort of their shtick.

No way. The only thing the mint does right is make the damn coins; other than that, they are impotent. Moy and his boys couldn't manage their way out of a wet paper bag. Can you imagine if the mint was saddled with having to slab these things too? They would be shipping coins every other year. The less the mint and the government does, the better off we are.

I and another member of the family have two pending order...the first was placed on Day 1...and the second was placed early last week.

And we don't have any indication that either have shipped or will ship anytime soon.

So if they're using FIFO or LIFO...it's not helping us either way!

I respectfully disagree, as ThinMint added, it's just in a tamper-proof "slab" with some basic info bar-coded (including batch date). In fact I think it would be of assistance to the TPG's in that the coin is less likely to be a forgery, plus it would provide some information, especially for those seeking a FS for the coin later down the road. That window would always be an open option. TPG's could realize profits for FS holders long after a deadline ended, and the owner could open the package to examine the coin without fear losing FS (would have been great for the 20th anniversary sets). I know this is wishful thinking, but maybe someone in a position to make things happen will read it. Thanks for the input.

Yeah, it is surprising that the Mint does not include disclaimers in its advertising for a new product which would absolve them of any responsibility for not following such an announced procedure as FIFO.

Yes indeed i like to post funny irreverent and factless info, but is that a bad thing? I thought that last post of mine above was funny. If I made one person laugh or simply for a brief moment made somebody relax from the stress of the UHR situation, then why not? • An honest question for those pounding their fists about the topic: Are you upset, primarily, because you're wanting to get a First Strike designation on these or do you just have such little patience? Or is it something else? You haven't been charged yet for your order so unless you're wanting to flip this piece, or give it as a gift and the recipient's birthday/event has passed, I really don't see what all the whining is about.

Initially it is FS, but after a while it is the principle of the thing.

by now, FS is a far distant secondary concern. It's the principle.

<< <i>This sucks so bad it's beyond comprehension. What I am afraid of is that those of us who put up with the website fu&*-ups in the first few hours of ordering will not get ours from the first batch of 29,000 minted. We are trapped in a black hole of no return. They won't get to ours until they have plowed through all those orders after ours. We know that there have been around 49,000+ orders to date and 29,000 or so minted. With the LIFO method that PBGS is using, it looks like the first 20,000 orders will be SOL and have to wait until April or May or whenever the mint can come up with enough slugs to mint more. This really sucks big-time. >>

Oh MajorDuty, it's all of the above and much more. As for me, i'm one impatient sonofab*tch. Secondly, I detest inferior customer service and lack of communication. Thirdly, I love to complain, bitterly so i might add cuz sometimes it seems the only way to get lazy, useless, inbred, stupid bureaucrats off their fat asses to make positive changes is to scream and yell. Fourthly, i want first strike. Fifthly, I bought one for my goddaughter and i want her to have first strike. I could go with many more reasons, but i think you get the point. And by the way, are u really just curious why we're whining or are you just whining about the whiners? image
