<< <i>I placed my order for the UHR at 12:05pm on day one. Order number 30826XXX. Order has shown - Your order request is in process - for over a week now. UHR as shown In stock and reserved ever since first ordered, and the price has always been $1189.00 for the UHR and $0.00 for the Book. Book said backordered up until Sunday when it showed ship date of 2/6/09. Cancel boxes have been gone since Sunday night, and Sunday is also when the Mint put a pending charge of $1207.90 on my CC. I have called and spoken with Customer Service twice now. The first time she told me that nobody's order would be shipped until 2/27/09, and that's when mine would ship. The second time I called was Monday. She told me that my order was scheduled to ship on 2/20/09. I told her that I HAD to be one of the first couple hundred orders that were taken, and my order number was one the lowest number that I have seen anywhere, yet some people we getting their coins. She said let me check, and came back to the phone and said....Well, they did something on your order today, but I'm not sure what, maybe they are shipping yours now, then said maybe you should wait a couple of days and call us back. I told her that they had a pending on my CC, and she said they do all of them that way. The entire operational effectiveness of the US Mint is nothing short of disgraceful. Misinformation, no information, sloppy, amateurish, inefficient, a complete abandonment of good business practices, forget "good", they have made being their customer a frustrating, time consuming and unpleasant experience. Perhaps they've forgotten that the profit they make over their costs is what constitutes their pay? What kind of organizational thought process from the very top to the bottom actually allows valuable packages to be sent without signature confirmation? IS there not one person drawing a check in that vast organization that might have said, "Hey, this doesn't make sense, we need to do something about it". So this allegedly is the problem? Big deal. Fix it! Change procedures, fire some people, kick some posteriors, but get your product out and take care of the customers. The entire matter could and should have been resolved within 24 hours. You know that in the private sector it would have been. They hype the product months in advance, we're excited, the bigshots pat each other on the back, they attend shows, they present the item, we're even more excited, and what do they do? Get half a dozen (if that many) out the door and tell us they don't have a clue on the rest. It's not like this issue only had a weeks notice. Perhaps they should turn the whole deal over to the Canadian Mint with their articulate customer service representatives who actually know the products, handle orders in a friendly, efficient manner, and actually have the merchandise on hand ready to ship without the drama/backorders/ and litany of excuses we've come to expect. Anyway you look, it's a sad situation that is exacerbated as each day passes. >>
singing my tune... and you've got the beat.... good navin!
So...when the order page said that it may take 6-9 months, did no one think they were serious??
Until they charge your credit card, I'm not sure I see what the big deal is. The CSR's aren't given any information, and have no ability to affect change, so calling them 10x a day isn't going to get the coins out any faster.

I realize I'm one of the newbie's on the block, and this may not mean anything...but...
I received an email tonight that the four Lincoln coins I had ordered on 2/12 had shipped today. I checked my cc and there was no charge for this order ($144.75)- zip - nada. I called my cc company and they had no record of a charge from the mint at all - except for a temporary hold on 2/9 of $1,194 pending an actual sale that dropped off on the 19th because the hold exceeded 10 days with no confirming sale.
So here's the question to ponder - If PBGS is shipping without first applying a charge like they did today with my Lincoln coins, what's to say they haven't packed and shipped the first batch of UHR's that had pending charges on our credit cards, and then apply the charge AFTER they ship a batch of UHR's? Do they take for granted that if you had the open line of credit available before, it will still be there after they actually ship and they're comfortable with that? Or are they not so concerned with a small order such as four Lincoln coins? Wishful thinking? Well, with the dozens of excuses we've heard from customer service reps over the last three weeks or so, it looks like anything is possible. Dazed and Confused ---

On the subject of a new coin series - remember the holed coins from Africa and Asia? They had holes in the center of the coin so that the people could carry their change on a string (no pockets in many cultures). I suggest a holed coin series depicting each of the major government departments (i.e. Treasury, Defense, Housing, etc.). The hole is very symbolic and multi-purpose: It could represent the black hole that our taxpayer dollars are being sucked into to fund each of these departments. It could also symbolize the empty service that one receives from each of said departments. It could also represent the hollowing out of the dollar's value over time.

Update... Mint agent said today anyone that ordered the coin on the first day will get them by April 24 and after that each day is one month more. So example 1st day April 24. 2nd day May 24. 3rd day June 24.. So you get the picture...
I get the same thing. Does anybody have a order number lower than 30826xxx. I got my order in very fast within the first 20 minutes. Personally I don't think the pbgs people are going in order people with higher order numbers got their cc's hit already but for me nothing. We will see what today brings

The Mint does not charge your c.c. until after the item is shipped. Yes, they will place a temp hold on your cc to see if your credit card will accept the charge, but that temp hold will normally drop off after 7-10 days if the debit has not hit your account.

MMMmmmm....usually most of the "pending charges " I see against my CC mean that the vendor has charged the card...it just didn't clear the system. Every charge I've seen listed as "pending" on my account has become permanent within a few days. Maybe this one will be different. I have seen posts in this thread saying that they have had SEVERAL pending charges on their CC (in regards to the UHF Double Eagle) come and go.
Hope this doesn't happen to me!! I ordered mine on the 27th of January. Although I'd LIKE to see it sooner rather than later....it doesn't much matter when I get it - just as long as I get it!!

I hear my clock ticking....
and it's digital.
due to the cancelled orders, front month gold is now down 29 at 966 ....
I don't understand! If the mint has the coins in hand why don't they ship them? Are they waiting to have an equal number of coins minted as ordered on the first day? This would seem to make sense based on the mints announcement of intended shipping plan. I can't believe how we are all so anxious to get our coins. I for one only have the ONE I ordered. If I could get another to order one for me now it will cost more and show up when I am really old.
Ships are safe in harbor but thats not what ships were built for.

Ok......so the pending charge for 1193.00 came off my CC account last night after 8-9 days, and now I understand the mints official 800 number for checking order status is not operational as well as their webs online order tracking status, and I have received 4 seperate email shipment dates regarding my order and all those dates have since passed with no shipment, and I also received an official letter from the mint a couple weeks back stating my CC billing address did not match my orders shipping address and my order would be cancelled (which a supervisor later said via telephone to just disregard)......
All I can say at this point is TWO WORDS come to mind when I think of the US Mint, and the first word is cluster.
Just called them and they said the same thing as yesterday - "all the reps were handed a piece of paper with a couple lines on it" the note essentially states that the mint will be resuming shipments this week. All delays were due to a delay in the gold blanks (hmmm) and substandard quality for the booklet.
...likewise, I spoke with a Mint Rep this morning and was informed that my UHR would ship 4/24...i turned away from the phone as copious profanities spewed from my mouth...i ordered my UHR on 01/22 at 12:26. I have also experienced the seven day credit card pre-authorization and the numerous Mint emails informing me of ship date revisions. I have also complained to the customer service in DC at 202-354-7500 and 202-354-7200. So now i have joined this forum to complain to all of you. I WANT MY DAMN UHR !!!

When I called the mint, the rep actually said, "well let me just read it to you" - Supposedly, she read me what the note said verbatim.
JC.
I am calling right now concerning my other UHR and will specifically ask about the 4/24 thing as my orders were fairly late in the day. If anyone should have theirs shipped 4/24 it should be me!
Checked my card,, again today and still just a pending, no charge yet, I figured this thing would have sent by now, I already paid, so I have a huge credit on my card, (no pun intended) by the time they ship it the cc coompany will probably send me a check for the credit balance. And I will have to pay it again. I am trying to resist the urge to call. The least they could do is get the tracking back up to passify all of us

What on earth does cluster computing have to do with the US Mint.
I ordered at 1pm and my CC has not been charged yet.
Ok here is the call concerning my second order. It is essentially the same as before with one small/big difference. The rep said that orders placed on the 22nd should be shipped out this week. Orders placed after that should be completed by 4/24. She read this from what seemed to be the same notice that simply says gold coin shipping will resume this week. She did stress that the 4/24 ship date was there expected COMPLETION DATE not a backorder date.

Well, that's not quite fair if they charge your CC NOW for delivery months FROM now! I wouldn't mind waiting for the coin (in deference to those who ordered it before me)....just don't charge my CC until it ships!!

The Mint does not charge your c.c. until after the item is shipped. Yes, they will place a temp hold on your cc to see if your credit card will accept the charge, but that temp hold will normally drop off after 7-10 days if the debit has not hit your account.

Today is about 30 days after the coins went on sale, so that's 30 months, so that's about................ August 2011 !!! If you order today. (if your lucky )

YaHa's sometimes post funny, irreverent, and factually incorrect information on message boards.

Well funny thing about you,MSMORRISON,, I have narrowed my thoughts on which member you are hiding behind the other forum name already have here.. I have a pretty good idea..
Secondly call the mint yourself and verify Yaha's Update. You MO RONN!!
In the future Stop it. If you want the mic, so be it. Stop trying to discredit people. With only 120+ posts using this name and probably 15,000 posts using your other forum handle, again I know who you are.. There is something seriously wrong with you. I really mean that..
All I can say at this point is TWO WORDS come to mind when I think of the US Mint, and the first word is cluster.
you couldn't have talked to him that day because another rep told me he was in a day long meeting with spike lee!
something about a james brown tribute, but that is just preliminary info I can't tell you any more on.
Jeff
blanks!
ok, that's a mint error I'll take...
<< <i>Yet we hear another fair tale story. I can't wait to hear a different story from them when I call later >>
if you do get a different story... ask if the rep was given anything printed about it then ask them to read it to you.
person may forget detail;s or get it mixed up with all the commotion recently...
<< <i>...likewise, I spoke with a Mint Rep this morning and was informed that my UHR would ship 4/24...i turned away from the phone as copious profanities spewed from my mouth...i ordered my UHR on 01/22 at 12:26. I have also experienced the seven day credit card pre-authorization and the numerous Mint emails informing me of ship date revisions. I have also complained to the customer service in DC at 202-354-7500 and 202-354-7200. So now i have joined this forum to complain to all of you. I WANT MY DAMN UHR !!! >>
wesley snipes we all damn you to hell!
(post some fake messages to an OT group first. count > 1. and try to vary writing style.)
JC.
I am calling right now concerning my other UHR and will specifically ask about the 4/24 thing as my orders were fairly late in the day. If anyone should have theirs shipped 4/24 it should be me!
P.S. I have nothing else to do!
<< <i>Ok......so the pending charge for 1193.00 came off my CC account last night after 8-9 days, and now I understand the mints official 800 number for checking order status is not operational as well as their webs online order tracking status, and I have received 4 seperate email shipment dates regarding my order and all those dates have since passed with no shipment, and I also received an official letter from the mint a couple weeks back stating my CC billing address did not match my orders shipping address and my order would be cancelled (which a supervisor later said via telephone to just disregard)......

What on earth does cluster computing have to do with the US Mint.
I ordered at 1pm and my CC has not been charged yet.
What a shoddy operation.

<< <i>Ok here is the call concerning my second order.

I leave for a trip Friday so I hope they ship by wednesday.
