Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Went to a Magic Johnson book signing at the request of another board member - got his Bird/Magic rookie that was already signed by Larry signed and while I was there, picked up this one for myself.
Also, got FB HOFer Art Donovan's RC back in the mail yesterday. It's the 52 Small version.
Very nice additions. I got a Tom Weiskopf signed on front for you. Came back TTM yesterday. My ruse worked as he signed both sides of the double sided card I sent him, However, I had a lot of trouble getting them apart, the 81 Donruss don't soak nearly as well as the cards from the 50's and I totally ruined one of them and the other has some back paper loss. However, from the front, it still displays nicely. (even with the paper loss, still a better collection filler then the back signed ones). I'll hold it for you.
Nice additions. Wasn't your Robustelli outstanding for a long time? I recently had one signed and it was outstanding for nearly 2 months. When it finally did arrive, Andy send my card back along w/ my cash donation and 4 signed postcards/photos in his own mailer. The only problem is that he wrote my address as 831 instead of 8310. Thanks to my postman, the envelope arrived safe and sound.

Added one more to my '72 Bruins program...Mr. Derek Sanderson!
Next it's off to Ken Hodge. I think 12 signatures or so should be good on this - which means 7 more TTM trips plus Orr and Esposito at shows. Any hockey fans out there have any opinion on who I should add before paying for Bobby and Phil?
I was thinking that I want the following on there ultimately: Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, Johnny Bucyk (have), Fred Stanfield (have), John McKenzie, Derek Sanderson (have), Mike Walton, Ken Hodge, Wayne Cashman, Ed Westfall, Dallas Smith and Gerry Cheevers. That's basically 2 lines and a goaltender. Sound cool?
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Added a couple things today. Got a funny note from Lucius Allen on my 71 Bucks Program. Said it got misplaced and apologized. I had mailed about 4 months ago. Next it's off to Bob Boozer - then will try to add Kareem.
Also added one to TheNavarro and my 1981 golf set.
I'll be away for 9 days at the in-laws so no mail until the 3rd. Merry Christmas all!
Over the holidays I traveled to Washington DC to spend the holidays with my in-laws. One of the fun things about coming home is going to the post office to see what mail built up over the 11 days. So here we go!!!
First, I'll start with the rejections...
Got Return to Sender from FB HOF Warren Moon
Got Return to Sender "Refused" from Willie McCovey
Got a reply asking for $20 from Cliff Branch
Got a reply from Andre Agassi saying too busy to sign card (but sent an 8 X 10 pictured below)
Now, onto the successes!!
BASKETBALL CARDS Unbelievable and unexpected success from BKB HOF Sen. Bill Bradley. I wrote him a 3 page note about politics and basketball. This was sent about 7 months ago. I honestly never expected to see it again.
1961 Fleer Hall of Famer Cliff Hagan added to my set
FOOTBALL CARDS
Added FB HOF Gale Sayers signed RC (sent $20)
Added FB HOF Bob Lilly RC (sent $5)
HOCKEY
Added HK HOF Johnny Bucyk RC (sent $9)
Now, onto the programs that I'm working on...
Received the following back: 1978-79 World Champion Seattle Supersonics media guide signed by their coach - HOFer Lenny Wilkens (can't find many TTM players from that team and DJ is deceased)
1971-72 World Champion Boston Bruins program signed by the 4th addition - Kenny Hodge
1970-71 World Champion Milwaukee Bucks program signed by it's 2nd addition - Bob Boozer
And finally, I received a nice gift from Jimrad. a 1982 Topps Rack pack, Andy Griffith cards and this beauty - a Bruin! Thanks Jim!!!
Received the following back: 1978-79 World Champion Seattle Supersonics media guide signed by their coach - HOFer Lenny Wilkens (can't find many TTM players from that team and DJ is deceased)
What about Gus Williams and Jack Sikma?
I just sent some cards to those two today
Some great returns Mike, and sorry for the denials
And a new one just came to the door. The beginning of my 1975 World Champion Warriors Media Guide...added Jeff Mullins. Next it's off to Butch Beard. 1-2 more, then I'll take a shot at Rick Barry. I want to avoid Rick personalizing it and feel like I have a better chance at it if there are 4-5 signatures on it.
How long did you wait for Adderley, Lilly and Sayers? I've been waiting since late May for Sayers, late Aug for Adderley and early Sept for Lilly. Nice additions!
Rgs,
Greg M.

Greg, Adderley was one I had been waiting on for 9 months - so I paid $25 at a private signing. Sayers was returned in about a month. Lilly was 3-4 weeks. Good luck!
Added a couple new signatures to my ongoing NBA projects today.
The first is Dick Snyder - member of the 79 World Champion Sonics. That makes two. Next it's off to Jack Sikma or Gus Williams
The second piece was a real surprise. I mailed my 71 World Champion Bucks program to Greg Smith and got a cool letter back. Apparently Greg was so taken with the program that he took it to the Blazers/Bucks game the other night and had another member of the team - Jon McGlocklin sign it too. I'm going to send him a thank you note. What a nice guy. Maybe we'll start a dialog. I'd love to learn more about basketball during the ABA/NBA split. Anyway, I thought it was a pretty cool letter...and now my program has 4 signatures on it instead of 2. Next it's off to Bobby Dandridge. Then I'll take a shot at the Big O.
79 Sonics - added Dick Snyder...
71 Bucks - letter from Greg Smith...
71 Bucks - added Greg Smith and Jon McGlocklin (by the way, I love that they all added their #'s)
I would just like to say that tonight is the first night that I have read this thread and I have sat here in my chair scrolling down all 14 pages with my mouth wide open gazing in amazment. Great Job! Jason
Funny enough, today's Gene Littler return reminded me of one of my favorite golf pieces - a program from the 1953 US Amateur Championship that I had Gene sign for me a few years ago. Gene is one of 10 players to win the US Amateur and US Open. The others are - Jerome Travers, Chick Evans, Bobby Jones, Francis Ouimet, Lawson Little, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Jerry Pate and Tiger Woods. Pretty darn good list.
bobby orr will cost $100+ and will not sign ttm...heads up: i've heard from MANY people that he is an a#$@#$ in person...again just a heads up
Patrick >>
FYI - Bobby Orr has been fantastic in person for many years, at least all of the times I have seen him around Boston. While growing up in the 1980s, he was the spokesman for Bank of Boston, and always appeared at the branch openings. I must have seen him a dozen times back then, and he would sign all day long. Just as recently as December, he appeared at an event at Boston University, and signed 11 x 14's of his famous goal for anyone who gave any size donation to BU. (I received 2 of them for my $10 donation!)
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Jerry West was promoting the LA Open at Riviera next week and signing at Santa Monica pier today...added a Media Guide from his only championship - The 1971-72 Lakers: Unfortunately, I had a minor pen fail and he had to trace over his "J" which didn't really show up the first time - but it still looks darn good I think. It's off to Gail Goodrich next...
Received back a Media Guide from the Washington Bullets only championship - signed by HOFer Elvin Hayes. It's off to Dick Motta (the coach) next.
Attended the San Diego open at Torrey Pines Wednesday. Added Phil Mickelson and Billy Mayfair to my US Amateur champions flag - up to a solid 30 signatures! Don't think more than 40 will fit on there ultimately so I better take a shot a Jack Nicklaus soon.
Also added golf balls from funny guy Boo Weekley and promising young tour player Rickie Fowler.
WTG Mike ... nice returns. I guess the more autos you get on a multi-auto'd piece the harder it is to send out!
STAY HEALTHY!
Doug
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Added '60 Heisman winner Joe Bellino to my new Heisman project. It's off to Steve Owens next (trying to get the free signers before dropping any cash). I think 15-20 signers will fit on it. It would be nice if they all sign straight across like the first two.
Added 2 HOF RC's Hockey HOFer Leo Boivin RC Football HOFer Herb Adderley RC
Went over to Riviera country club for the golf tournament today. I only stayed during non traffic hours because I refused to wait 4 hours plus two more in traffic for Mickelson. Either way, a few nice additions.
The PLAYERS Championship flag #2 - Added David Duval, Adam Scott and Davis Love III Got golf balls from: Davis Love III (1997 PGA Championship logo ball) David Duval (2001 British Open logo ball) Nick Watney Steve Stricker and Jerry West. I was dumb to not have a card with me.
Added HOF goalie Gerry Cheevers to my 72 Bruins program. Off to John MacKenzie next
Added 3 cards... Hockey HOFer Guy LaFleur RC Football HOFer Ron Mix RC (from signing in SD) (2) 90 ProSet golf addition Billy Ray Brown for jswieton and I
WTG Mike ... so far they are keeping the autos nice and neat!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
1952 Bowman Frank Gifford RC signed (I had sent this before Christmas) 1991 ProSet Golf Lou Graham picked up 1981 Donruss golf George Archer (he's one of 3 deceased players in the set) on eBay for $12 about 2 months ago and forgot to post
Also, added a couple new sigs to my multi projects... Added Jamaal Wilkes to 1975 Golden State Warriors World Championship Media Guide (off to Clifford Ray next) Added 1969 Heisman winner Gary Beban to ongoing Heisman Winner program (off to J. Lattner next)
So tonight, the New Beverly Cinema in LA was being programmed by Jason Reitman (director of Up in the Air, Juno and Thank You for Smoking). He was showing Breaking Away and Bottle Rocket. Breaking Away is one of my favorites. Two of the four cutters showed up...Dennis Christopher (Dave) and Daniel Stern (Cyril). I had a mini-poster with me and they were really nice - both signed right next to their pictures...
Closeup
Also, I brought a Juno poster for Jason Reitman to sign (which he did - nice dude). But in line before the movie, I saw Michael Cera (actor, also in Juno/Superbad/Youth in Revolt). He was a really cool guy. He had never seen Breaking Away before and was excited to. We chatted for a quick second and he was more than happy to sign my poster. Never expected to have anyone other than the director on it - my night was going well..
The movie was great as ever (seen it 10-12 times). I also noticed Jonah Hill showed up and watched it with Michael. Very fun times.
Closeups
Then I got home and discovered that my 1978 Bullets Media Guide had been returned with a really nice autograph from Mitch Kupchak.
