Given in groups of 7 (or 13) by the groom to the bride's family. The earlier ones (like this apparently, given the "B" mintmark beneath the eagle) are 90% or even 92% pure gold. Later ones were silver, or gold plated silver, and finally base metal plated in gold or even not plated.

Those are all part of the Charles III denomination set that I have been working on and have shown here previously. Additionally, I also have an example of the 1/2 real, a two reales, the one escudo and I had an example of a 4 escudos.
The three above though are also Ex @Boosibri and part of the set he was building at one time.
Now to explain the prior post.
You see yesterday I was able to upgrade the 4 Escudos that was in my set.
However, this is not just any 4 escudos, it's the former Ex Boosibri / Ex Norweb / Ex Eldorado example.
So it's nice that those four coins are reunited in this set, which by the way still really badly needs the 2 escudos to be complete. @MrEureka
Happy Thursday everyone. I got my grades yesterday and trueviews this morning. Very happy to add this piece to my type set as it's probably the only gold I'll add for a long time, though I won't stop trying.
Looks like a nice coin. Cinquefoils and round 9. I'm sorry you didn't get it.
Thanks. The date is common enough but in a very uncommon grade. This coin sold once before since I have been buying this design, but I have never seen another even close and it looks better than any of the plate coins in my references too.
I have only paid more than the winning bid once and it was a graded coin. I don't see anything wrong with it but didn't want to risk getting "buried".
Bit of a random purchase for me but I've always wanted one of these. Thought it would be fun to do a type set of them similar to the 8R type set on the PCGS Registry.
After many months at PCGS, the first of my Mexico 1945 20c were graded. There was one error in the hoard, which I submitted under Regular service. Another batch is under Economy service, which is still pending.

Is this a real coin never saw one before?
@KingOfMorganDollar they are fantasy coins. They are used in Mexico for weddings.

I recently consigned the EPN 1811B 960 reis. Glad to see it went to an appreciative new owner. RSP
What's the undertype? I can't seem to place the design.

It’s an 1802 Portrait per the 2011 auction write-up. I can’t personally place the under type looking at it.

What was the coin?

Gee whiz, I thought the U.S. auctions houses estimates were bad, this lot estimate is a bit extreme.
