Attached please find scans of the 6 HOF rc that I purchased from Ron Gordon (the ungraded cards). Additionally, I added a nice signed 52 Bowman Small (card is mislabeled) Ollie Matson - which I bought from the Legendary Auction. I purchased 2 lots along with a friend and we split the cards - and my biggest pickup was the Matson.
Enjoy!

Collecting vintage auto'd fb cards and Dan Marino cards!!
Well my big addition arrived today! I made three pickups last week. Here they are:
Michael Irvin
Les Richter- HOF Senior Selection. A huge thanks to Greg for helping me out with this one!
And here is my surprise! I have only seen two others since I started the set so I'm very excited to add this one to my set! Grange autographs are pretty common, but finding them on the 33 Sport Kings card isn't so easy!

So I was trying to find out roughly what I could get for a 77 Touchdown Red Grange that I have, since I replaced it with a sweet 55 Topps Auto. I start searching and there it is, with 30 minutes left and sitting a $250. Since the last one sold in that Legendary Auction for $800 or $900 I figured there was no chance at winning. I threw down a snipe for $425 just for the heck of it. Well I ended up winning it for $355. I was shocked! The description didn't have "auto" in the title it had "signed" which may have been why it was overlooked. It does have some imperfections with there being 4 pinholes in it, but overall it presents really well. I'll send it in at some point and get the "authentic" slab. I was all just chance I came across it because I never consistently look for anyone pre 1948. Now if I could just find a nice Jim Thorpe to go along with it! lol

Wow - this thread has been dead for nearly a month! Everyone must be busy...
I wanted to share two recent pick ups. The first is a 54 Bowman Otto Graham - and although not a rc, the autograph is fantastic and I won it for less than $30...which was a steal. I also bought a signed Munchak rc on E-Bay for $45. I bid higher than I wanted, however his signed rc are tough to find and he doesn't sign TTM and does not appear on the autograph circuit.
I have two more additions to share - but will wait until I have the cards in hand. One of the additions is HUGE!
Hope everyone is well.

Collecting vintage auto'd fb cards and Dan Marino cards!!
I picked this up on E-Bay for less than $20...which was a great price. Howie Long doesn't sign TTM and hasn't signed publicly in several years. I'm glad to add this to my collection.
I have a huge pickup to announce next week...more to follow...

I just got a sub back from PSA today. The Grange came back as a 1. I'll probably have it changed at some point to authentic only. The Friedman and Price both came back as expected. The problem with this sub though was that I sent in two 1955 Topps All American cards and they both came back N9-No holder. Really PSA? WTH?

That Grange has wonderful eye appeal to be a 1. I'd take a 1 like that with small pinholes any day over the same card in a beaten down PSA 2. Nice card.
I am really happy with the Grange. I'm with you I'd much rather have the eye appeal. I'm just a little frustrated that this is the 3rd PSA order in a row I've had some type of issue with and will have to send back. The worst part about this one is that the 55 Topps cards are the exact same size as the 52 Bowman Large which they were able to holder with this sub. Sigh....

Thanks guys. I can't believe how nicely the Namath turned out! What's funny is that I read about the private signing last Friday night and the promoter needed the card by Monday night. I went to E-Bay, negotiated the price w/ the seller and asked if he could overnight the card to the private signing. He agreed and I bought the card. He overnighted the card on Saturday and the promoter received it on Monday afternoon.
I can't wait until its slabbed.

I picked this card up on E-Bay for under $100...which was a good price. I was suppose to get a rc signed at the July Chantilly show, however my package of cards was lost in the mail.

Hi Reese. No, I'm not doing the RC HOF Auto set, but I do appreciate a good buy when I see it. Although I'm happy for Greg, I would have liked that card for myself
Please don't start the set - I don't want to bid against you!

I have four new additions; only one of which is for my HOF set - Sam Huff. For some reason, Sam Huff has been tough to find. I also added signed rookie cards of Steve Owens (69 Heisman winner), Jeff Saturday (who had Ryan Diem also sign the card) and Ed DeBartolo Jr.

I've read through and have been following this thread since I started collecting these cards, but I have yet to post in here. I've gotten about 43 NFL HOF RCs collected so far. I have a several that are still out for TTMs. I've almost exhausted the TTMers, as there are about 10-15 left I'd like to send to. I'm just starting to do more ebay searches for these cards. I've got a few questions about this set that I thought some of you all might have some insight into. I'm wondering what are the tougher cards out there? Do any potentially not exist? What card will be considered as the "rookie" for future hall of famers, especially with all of the manufacturer distributed autos out there today? I'd like to try to be proactive in collecting future hall of famers, but once you get into the 90s the "best" rookies aren't very clear. Any thoughts are appreciated.

The future HOF rc set should give you a great head start on what cards are considered "the" rookie cards for the respective players. It's a GREAT idea to get rookie cards signed now of future HOFers because after the players are inducted, either they stop signing (e.g. Randall McDaniel) or start to charge. This is especially true of the older players. For instance, I had rookie cards signed of Les Richter last year - and if he's elected, his signed rookie card will easily top $100 (especially since he died back in June). Other guys such as Chris Hanburger started to personalize all autographs and limit requests after he was announced as the senior candidate. Prior to that, he would sign several cards at a time and would even sign and return extra cards that were for him to keep.
If you're serious about collecting this set, then you'll benefit in the long run if you preemptively collect the future HOFers before they are elected.
Hope that helps and let me know if you have any other q's.

I got lucky with the Webster, the previous one on ebay went for about $180, this one went for $90, I bet possibly due to the fact it was UK selling it. Also got lucky with PSA, they popped on the last possible day for me to file a PP claim if it hadn't passed.
Ward does sign TTM still, but it can be pretty hit or miss.
