To quote Big Dust - I'm a "son of a plummer". He had one incredible on-going feud with Tully Blanchard in the great NWA days. My favorite Dusty moment was at The Omni in Atlanta when he saved Flair from the Russians in a cage only to have Arn and Ole Anderson lock the cage and proceed to "break" Dusty's ankle leading to the greatest pay-per-view of all-time Starrcade '85.
Looking for low #'d 2006 Marques Hagans + 1991 Wild Card stripes of UVA players - Tony Covington, Shawn Moore, Herman Moore
This is a fun card of a relatively tough living HOF'er. Evidently in 1959, whoever was responsible for the final card approval was not too familiar with this future HOF'er. Topps used a picture of the other Jim Taylor on this one. They repeated their folly again in 1960 as well. The HOF'er Taylor signed this one "Not my picture Jim Taylor"
Every now and then, I pick up one that immediately becomes one of my favorites. This is one of those times. Just came to an agreement a short while ago for this one. A beautiful 1985 Star Michael Jordan 5 x 7 card. This classic, tongue wagging image of a young Jordan, has been signed brilliantly by his royal airness with a 10 quality rookie era sig. Comes with a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA as well. The thing I particularly like about this one, is that he doesn't sign his name anymore with that care, so the supply of these will not increase, unless he changes his signing habits.
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

<< <i>Awesome pickup Mike. Can you get this slabbed? >>
Thanks Guys! I really like this one. Not sure if they'll slab it or not Doug. I assume they have a big enough holder but not sure. I know Beckett does as they did my 5 x 7 Barkley for me from the same issue. I don't think PSA will give it a red flip though regardless as they say they no longer slab Star Co. cards. If they do a blue flip, they'll just put "trading card" and won't identify it as a 1985 Star (at least that's how I've seen them do Star cards now)
Great card of Big Ted. One of the classic sluggers of the mid 50's. Had some of the best baseball cards as well, with the cutoff sleeves making for some great poses. This card doesn't sport that type of pic, but it is his rookie card.
2010 and 2011 NBA HOF candidate. He was one of the first Europeans to come to the NBA. Sarunas was a 1988 Olympic gold medalist, widely regarded as being the architect for the 1992 Lithuanian Olympic bronze medal winning squad and resurrecting that national team, and the winner of the Mr. Europa award in 1988.
Creator of one of the most timeless tunes ever. Rob Van Winkle will forever be a part of music history. Even today, when I go to buy a 15 lb. bag of ice from an automated dispenser in the neighborhood, I can't help but smile when his jingle plays in the background as the ice is falling down the chute. Make me feel 20 years old, over, and over again. A fun card to add to the entertainment component of my signed rookie card collection.
The Road Warriors AKA Hawk and Animal, real names Michael Hegstrand and Joseph Laurinaitis, were one of my favorite tag teams of the 80's. They were managed by Paul Ellering. All 3 have signed this 1985 Wrestling All Stars card. These cards were issued in a magazine as one set. The Road Warriors and Ellering are Class of 2011 inductees into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. Hegstrand passed away in 2003, so this is a relatively tough card to find signed. Especially by all 3.
1985 Wrestling All Stars The Road Warriors and Manager Paul Ellering
This guy was part of one of the most famous plays in football history, "The Immaculate Reception". This Hall of Famer has one heck of a resume:
9× Pro Bowl selection (1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980) 7× All-Pro selection (1972, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979) NFL 1970s All-Decade Team 4× Super Bowl Champion (IX, X, XIII, XIV) Super Bowl IX MVP 1972 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year 1972 UPI AFL-AFC Rookie of the Year 1976 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award
The scan doesn't do this card justice as the silver signature doesn't show well in scan, but it's brilliant in person. Card itself was an SGC 84 crackout. It was signed a week and a half ago at the Autorama at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh.

One of the most prolific defenders in the history of the NBA. He could change a game by causing his opponents to alter their shots. Another relatively tough autograph.

It's been going well! I've got a fundraiser coming up this weekend that benefits my Children's Advocacy Center where I'm going to be doing some bullriding, chili eating, and taking part in an auction. Looking forward to the bruises, the heartburn and the money raising for the Center. You mention the Super Bowl, and one of the items that we are auctioning off late Saturday night is Super Bowl tickets. I don't have the coin myself to drop on the Super Bowl as I'd rather use the money it would take me to buy the tickets to go toward my signed rookie card collection, but I do plan on buying some of the smaller lots like airline tix to benefit my Center. Should be a great time, but to answer your question, no, no Super Bowl for me (unless I break down in the heat of the auction and pony up)
Lol, good for you man-helping out like that. Your much braver than me as I couldnt do the bullriding. Id like to make it down to Dallas for a few days to sightsee as I've never been there. I wish my Bears would have made it though. Oh well, we always have the Bulls to turn to over here.

Mike, can you please let me know where you picked up the Mutumbo. PM me if you like. I have a question about it (not about it's authenticity). It just looks very similar to one I've seen before. LMK.

Picked this one up from board member wrestlingcardking. This wrestling superstar has had a long, storied career both as a wrestler and announcer. Outstanding card that pcitures him in a very youthful appearance. Member of the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame, WWE Hall of Fame, and Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame.
1982 Wrestling All Stars Jerry "The King" Lawler PSA/DNA
Does Lawler do TTM? Just curious. He lives a couple blocks from me and I see him all the time driving around, at the grocery store, gas station, etc... Nice guy but I don't want to appear stalkerish. Haha. He is one of the best and will be facing The Miz for the WWE Title at the next PPV.
Glad that you like the Jerry Lawler, I do like the addition of the nickname with the auto and a PSA 7 is pretty good for these cards as well.

You know, staged or not, it's amazing to me that wrestlers can keep up with the physical demand of their sport into their 50's. Years with 200+ nights on the road, all those bumps - amazing.

Bought a nice group of 5 signed hockey cards from my signed HOF rookie card mentor. Growing up here just South of Dallas, about the only exposure I had to the frozen pond was the 1980 US Olympic team. I'm learning though. I was told these guys were pretty good
Great stuff Mike!! The Lawler is a really cool addition to your collection. He was always one of my favorites growing up. The Hasek is a nice one too. he is a relatively difficult signature to get.
I purchased an autographed Carmen Electra card the other day from one of my friends, Jeserone, and then I got to looking around for her rookie. Discovered this autographed Playboy card from 1996. Outstanding card of a yummy Carmen. Although the card is simply a photographic presentation of a gorgeous, sensual, female form, I know some people want to keep anything that could even remotely be construed to be related to the dreaded S word away from their children or from themselves, so I have chosen to edit the card in respect to them and to our forums' host.
1996 Playboy Celebrity Autographed Edition Carmen Electra
It's hard to top Carmen, but I kinda like this one too. The premier wrestler of the 80's. One of the primary cards responsible for the price explosion of the 1982 Wrestling All Stars. The great Hulk Hogan!! I sent it into an in store PSA/DNA authentication session, and I called a few minutes ago and it passed PSA/DNA and got stickered on the back (I don't mind the sticker as the card itself is not the greatest shape as you can see). Member of the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and museum, Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame, and WWE Hall of Fame.

"The Hulk Hogan and Friends Tour" will take to the road for a second time making a pit stop on Thursday May 26, 2011 at the Oneida Casino in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Hulk Hogan, Brian Knobs and Jerry Sags aka "Nasty Boys", Brutus Beefcake, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Koko B. Ware and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, along with Jimmy "Mouth of the South" Hart serving as MC. They will answer questions for a capacity crowd and take pictures with fans and sign autographs.
Don't know if you are willing to road trip to see him, but that sounds like a cool event. However, dpeck told me that there was supposed to be a similar event back in November and that they didn't show. I think Hogan's agent for signings is still Darren Prince from the old "The Prince of Cards", so you might try him to get one signed as well. From what I remember about Darren back in the day, is that he was pretty motivated by money, so you might grease his hand a bit to get it done.
Sitting here watching college basketball so decided to add another hoops card. Card is O/C but otherwise pretty nice. Fleer might not have cared enough about him in 61 to get his name right (they spelled it "Wilkins"), but Wilkens ended up having a HOF career.
For post 1700 I thought I'd post a special card. This behemoth was coined "The Eighth Wonder of the World" . The first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1993. Inductee also of the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, Stampede Wrestling Hall of Fame, and Wrestling Observor Newsletter Hall of Fame. Andre passed away in 1993 and is a relatively tough autograph. When he did sign, he typically just signed Andre, but if he was relaxed and had time, you got the full version like this. I sent it to the same in store authentication that I did the Hogan (and got it from the same source), and PSA/DNA expressed no opinion yet. (in other words, it didn't fail, and it didn't pass) I personally am confident in the authenticity as i've never had one fail from my source, and it matches comparably with the only other Andre the Giant autographs I've seen.
