Well at least we got some production from the catcher's spot! Win or lose tonight, win or lose in the series....the Sox will always be our team! We're in a rough spot right now, but we've been there before and I am sure there are a bunch of other teams that would like the shot to play for a World Series berth.
I agreed with everyone saying that it was a mistake to start Wakefield tonight. The guy hasnt started in 3 weeks and now coming into the most important game for the Bosox this year. I thought starting D-Mat on 3 days rest would have been the way to go. Too late now...anyway, GO RAYS!
I don't understand Wake either. I understand that he needed to pitch a game, but I still can't figure out why he didn't pitch in the dome.
I caught myself thinking about off season moves earlier today. I guess that's my signal that I'm losing hope (quickly) that this season is going to be last much longer.
Lets not forget though that we have been on the brink before- we still got Dice, Beckett and Lester in the tank so lets just say we still got a chance.

It's the Beckett part of that which fills me with despair. I don't care what he says, he is NOT feeling okay.
Hard to watch the Red Sox flameout. Gotta give credit to the Rays, they're in a groove and look unstopable. The day off will help, but it is definitely A-game time on Thursday.
We're not gone yet, but, things are looking pretty thin.

My concern is that we will stay in our rutt of not being able to plate any runs- ofcourse I agree with you on Beckett but if we can get 5 solid innings out of him ( If it comes down to it ) at least we got a fighting chance.
<< <i> A very good year overall, and I don't want to hear any crap from the Yankees fans. >>
As a Yankees fan, I must say it was GREAT to watch! Hehe...sorry, just cuz you said that I just have to do that to you. But its not over yet. Though its true that the body language says it is.

Okay, after teetering on the brink of despair all night last night, I've finally come back to a calm place. This feels almost feels right, this being down but not quite out. Let's pray for some more October magic this year, hope for some more good times, and demand that our offense score some freakin' runs.
Agreed! I have become accustomed to the Sox making it "stressfull" as they always seem to make it that way ( aside from our WS wins ) I know we have a decent chance to win this series and should not have expected it to be "easy"
the 04' team and last years seemed to have a lot more heart and desire. The Sox are desperately missing Lowell, thats for sure and Beckett is NOT healthy that much is obvious.
Being an INdians fan and knowing that Boston came back from 3-1 last year should make the Rays worry a little. However that said, and even though I'm a diehard Indians fan I had the feeling last year that the INdians never had it sewn up and you had that worry in the pit of your stomach. The Rays this year seem different. Maybe it's because they are not my team but it seems like its some kind of karma working. Wish I had bet them prior to the season to get to the world series. Does anyone know what the odds were???
alnavman - Depending on the casino, the most common odds on the Rays were 150/1 to win the World Series in April. After the all-star break their odds were at 8/1.
Well I changed my Avator to a larger Sox emblem AND took the one in my sig-line out, it was surrounded by a black background so maybe that was the problem? Just mixing it up sorta like a rally cap!
<< <i>might be to late...time to start rooting for the Pats...OOPS sorry about that >>
Nothing to be sorry about! I have been so fortunate to be a fan of the Sox and Pats! Lets see if any other city can match our recent success and then we will talk.

I understand his "dig" wholeheartly! Afterall he is a Tribe fan- how painful it must have been not to salt away a 3-1 series lead in the ALCS last year! Youza! And to come into this season with HIGH expectations with the Brownies? Yikes!

<< <i>as they say every dog has its day and what goes around comes around....cliches maybe but the tide will turn..... and not the Alabama Crimson Tide >>
Oh yes. We are not without pain my friend, losing Brady on the very first drive of the season is nothing nice.
I agree, when you lose your starting quarterback it is really painful. Not to make excuses for the Browns but they also didn't have Anderson at full go until recently and look at the Colts with Peyton struggling to start the season....even though a lot of players say preseason is a waste I think that QB's need it to get in sync with their receivers.
Again- LETS DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not looking promising at all. Between innings my thoughts are drifting to what becomes of Varitek, if the Sox will go for a free agent pitcher or two...not good thoughts for mid October
some will say "good run" or "successul season" but I think it you don't win it all, you're just like the KC Royals (Rickey Bobby comes to mind)

But it looks like Tampa is the team of destiny this year - reminds me of the 1969 Mets.
Technically not over yet, but body language says they're done.
A very good year overall, and I don't want to hear any crap from the Yankees fans.

Well, if this series ends without the Sox moving on you most certainly will hear a TON of crap from Yankee fans.
What comes around goes around
With that said. Series is not over.

Go Rays!!
both times they won the WS didn't they come back form 3-0 and 3-1? (in the LCS)
I would bet the players are not thinking the way some of you here are.
Until that last out is made they feel they can win it.

No comment, except the old Yogi standby -- "it ain't over 'till it's over"
LET SCORE SOME FREAKIN RUNS
