I am here as always Jer ... GREAT JOB by the Sox. Congrats and ENJOY
I won't be sporting a Rays icon like you would. I understand the bitterness of Sox fans in down years and they can not bring themselves to show a bit of good sportsmanship
In all seriousness this is probably the way the AL should have shaken out ...... I will be rooting for the Rays but WILL NOT be barfing out anti Sox nonsense ....
Francoma was stupid by going with anyone other than Lester in the 8th the other night, that's a given.
How about this?
Francoma: game 1: Matsuzaka; 2: Beckett; 3: Lester 4: Wakefield
here's what I think... Matsuzaka in game one, sure, but I would pitch Wakefield in game two as he has a better chance (more movement on the knuckleball in Tampa than in the open and cold air of Boston). Then I'd pitch Lester in game three and save Beckett, who looks lousy and can't cover first due to lack of effort, for game four.

Sorry guys, you are both wrong......................
When the weather turns nippy, the ball turns dippy, said Mike Marshall, an author and teacher with a doctorate in exercise physiology. "Cold weather means there are more molecules per cubic foot of air, which creates more resistance,'' he said. ''Any pitch that is designed to move will move more in cold weather, and fastballs will slow down significantly. The colder it is, the better it is for someone like Tim Wakefield'' - the Red Sox pitcher - "because he throws a knuckleball that is designed to move."

hmmm, my experience tells me that a parachutist descends much more quickly in cold weather, so I disagree.
After 2 World Championships in 4 years and 4 post-season appearances in 5 years I think Francona knows what he is doing. He obviously had a good reason for pitching Lopez over Byrd in game three, for pulling Lester after 7 innings and for setting up his rotation this way for the American League Championship.
Wakefield has had mixed results pitching in the cold during the post-season. Again, the Sox must feel he is better suited for pitching in Fenway in this series and also they will have their best three pitchers going twice if the Series goes 7 games.
It's nice to know RSN is behind us, the Networks are behind us, the advertising community is behind us, and most of Florida is rooting for us instead of the Rays.
Yes, that's bogus. Have a little sensitivity to the no hitter - idiot announcers. By the way, is it me or does Ron Darling sound JUST like James Woods.
Please leave Mr. Dice-K in for the remainder of the game (or atleast the 8th)
thank you for your consideration

Dear Mike,
You're completely and utterly insane. Have you watched this guy all year? He could walk 9 people in a row and he's already thrown 110 pitches. I think we've just won 7 blackjack hands in a row while doubling our bet every time. Time to quit while we're ahead.
I'd appreciate it you would appreciate the fact that he is able to get himself out whatever problems he gets himself in to, game after game after game.

Dear Mike,
While I can appreciate your point, no one is going to keep up stats like he had with guys in scoring position, or more specifically with the bases loaded this year...it's just tempting fate at this point.
Awesome win tonight!!! If Terry sticks with his rotation, Dice-K should get 5 days rest and start game 5 next Thursday.............aaaahhhem..........if necessary.
<< <i>Phillies - Red Sox World Series...would love to see it. >>
Red Sox-Dodgers is the one everyone wants to see. >>
This is a true statement....I don't think anyone outside of Philly likes/cares about the Phillies, except for Stalin b/c we all know he's nowhere near Philly.
Papelbon pitched the ninth for Boston, extending his career postseason scoreless streak to a major league-record 20 2-3 innings over 13 appearances. Joe Niekro held the old mark of 20 scoreless innings.
great game guys! An absolute GEM by Dice-k sans the walks, but he earned his "overpriced" salary last night. He pitched amazing in a very pivitol game. Lets go Lester!~
Well, how many times have I moaned about Timlin?? When a game of this magnitude is on the line, why the hell did Tito go to Timlin instead of Paul Byrd? At about 1:15AM this morning, if you heard a loud screaming voice saying NOOOOOOOOOOO, it was me hollering at Tito when he brought in Timlin. As instantly expected, Timlin failed again, as he has so many times before. Why not Paul Byrd??? A former starter, could give you a couple of innnings, blah, blah.
What's up with Ortiz? He can't even get a single and Drew is choking again. Geez, between these two alone the Red Sox have invested almost $30m per season. Can't you guys just get a damn hit once in a while? Ellsbury is in melt down mode at the plate. Thank goodness for Pedroia, Youkilis and Bay...BUT, the other guys gotta step it up if we're gonna go to the WS. The Rays are now smelling blood in the water. Last night's (this morning's) game would have been a huge leg up, but now it's best of 5. The good news is we are back in Fenway and Lester goes tomorrow night.
I think Tito is suffering from BGMD, Bubble Gum Melt Down. Gotta be all that damn sugar that is clouding his thinking process. Didn't they say he went through a whole bucket? Wow, he must live in a dental chair when not at the ball park. How can you chew on over 100 pieces of bubble gum in one game, without causing yourself some serious health problems?
Earth to Tito, earth to Tito...NO MAS TIMLIN. He ain't gonna get it done for us, now, next week or next year.
Terry mismanaged the pitchers IMO. Beckett should have been on a shorter leash, using Masterson in long relief. Being that Beckett was left in, Masterson should have been used in long relief in the late innings. Only Terry knows if Masterson is tired. Only Terry knows if Paul Byrd is shut down due to fatigue. If Paul Byrd is fine, then he should have been used in the extra inning game the Angels won (when the Angles used Weaver), and he should have been used last night. Timlin is not an option in these playoffs.
Crisp should have hit leadoff against Kazmir because he is a switch hitter. Would have paid off huge IMO.
Amazing that we are still winning without a healthy Beckett, Papi, and no Manny. Says a lot about Theo and the rest of the guys.
We did our job splitting in Tampa. If Lester and Dice-K go 3-1, then I think we're fine. Beckett should definitely be on a shorter leash his next outing.

Agreed. Winning game 1 was great. Dice-K is still undefeated on the road this year. Big props to Dice-K.
If Beckett wins Game 2, then it's all over.
HUGE pressure on the Rays right now.
Glad Pap finally threw a split to end the game....wish he'd throw that more, it would make him unhittable if he could throw that in any count.
