packman....really nice cards. mind if i ask when you got that cobb? there is so much competition for low grade cobbs.
  • Options
Thanks. This has become one of my favorite sets to collect. My PSA cards are on the registry under Windmill.

I acquired most of the cards from private sales. This includes the Cobb which I bought around 1 - 2 years ago.

Very nice. Thanks again for the Hanvrin, Packman!

Grades popped on a couple of my CJ's today:

The Cicotte got a 2. I was hoping for more like a 3, although there are two minor creases on the card that aren't very visible. But I've seen a lot worse-looking 2's than this!

    image

This Bender got only a 2.5!! There were no creases on this one at all - I was expecting at LEAST 2 points higher!

    image

And the Bresnahan no number with the clipped corner ended up getting a 2 - I was happy with that, since I wasn't sure if this would have received just an "Authentic."

    image

Congrats on the Bresnahan I was hoping you would get higher than an A.
  • Options
Nice cards. The Bender presents very nice. I would take 2s like that all day.

Thanks for the comments, guys. The Bender and maybe the Cicotte as well may go for a second opinion to the graders in New Jersey - I definitely had better expectations for those, but at least they weren't trimmed or anything like that!

This past weekend I was busy loading scans into my PSA set. I decided to combine scans of the 1915 and 1914 cards when there were variations. Here are 4 that I have done. I would love to see some of your 1914 variations.

I was so close on this one, but does anyone think that I've got a shot at a PSA 3? This had been graded using my renewal vouchers, although I'm not sure if that would make a difference in how the card was graded, would it? The staining my doom me, but take a look.....

    image

The light hairline in the lower right-hand corner is a scratch in the slab, and not a crease.

Save your breath, guys. The fellas over at the CM Board have handed down their verdict: NO WAY, DUMMY...lol. Oh, well. That said, this Boehling card is now available if anyone needs it. Just PM with a low-ball offer so that I can get this thing out of my collection.

I feel for you - the staining is what is the hardest to account for imo.
  • Options
I totally agree with you, Rich, because it's way too subjective. I've got a few 3's that appear similar in condition, but with wildly different staining patterns, yet they retain the same grade. Yo no se!

My collection is relatively new, but I wanted to share the few cards that I had amassed since last July. It has been quite a task trying to complete this set in a PSA 3 across the board, but the difficulties I've encountered has made this very interesting, and I'm sure that most of you guys can relate to the thrill of the hunt. I've got several crossover/raw cards still pending, but the following 18 cards are the cornerstone of my very own '15 CJ set:

Cool thread & sweet cards! I spent a couple days reading & looking through it while
I waited for this card to arrvie in the mail. Needless to say, it's a Holy Grail for me,
and I never thought I'd find one in low grade with minimal staining. Now I just have
to pick out some cards to sell to help pay for it. image

Wow, you can't even see the roller marks... talk about a sweet "2"!!

I appreciate the comments on the Cobb, guys. The bottom right corner has a minor bit of
surface loss, which is why it was knocked down to a VG grade. I have one other '14 CJ, and
it still amazes me how thin these cards are -- you hold them up to the light and you can
    literally see through them.

This poster was mentioned a few pages back in this thread (by stormsurge), and it should be
interesting to see where this ends up. Just an amazing piece.

Very nice and well centered! I declared MOST psa 3's go to Scoutsout how else is he gonna do this set in PSA 3, some cards are POP 0!
  • Options
Thanks again, Teddy. I just picked up four more 3s, and as for the Pop 0s, I may have to crack and bend a few PSA 5s for resubmission image

Also, for those of you who care, I'll be entering my set into the Registry once my submissions return from PSA in a couple of weeks. I sent in a number or reholders and some raw cards, and once they're in my hands, I'll be up there with the rest of the big boys.

Thanks Ted; not what I should be buying having just been laid off, but what the hell, that's what severance packages are for, right???

BTW - let me check with Phil to see if he's got my stuff ready, then we'll figure out a time to meet up!

    Hello everyone,

I apologizing for posting this here but I believe most people here will be interested. I just listed a bunch of nice PSA and SGC graded 1914 cracker jacks on ebay. Here is a link. If anybody wants to make me an offer on any of the cards feel free to email me at racer361984@yahoo.com.

    Thanks

Yes, very nice to see some actual auctions for these cards for a change (as opposed to searching
for "1914 Cracker Jack", getting 267 results, then clicking on the "auctions only" tab to get only 2 results image ).
