  • Ah, those are some fabulous pics, Rich, but they make me want to knock my dad upside his head for not passing his Cracker Jack set down to me...lol.

Time for an overdue bump. Just picked up this beauty; excited to get it and check it out as to why it only got a 50. Maybe a crack and re-sub candidate??

  • Scooter, nice pickup and although its hard to see from the scan it just may be worth resending.
  • I recently picked up a raw copy of the 1914 Cracker Jack Roger Bresnahan No Number on Back variation and received a PSA 3. I'm happy with the grade because of the significant amount of staining, but I thought it may have had a shot at a 4.

Here are pictures of my slabbed Bresnahan. Sorry they're a little blurry.

  • Thanks for posting - that is a nice looking 3!
  • Beautiful cards above. So Im ready to try to increase my 1915's after a break. Anyone interested selling any 1's or 2's including any minor stars please let me know. This set is going to take forever!

  • To get the year started on this magnificent thread - here is a sketch I had done for me:

    image

  • Hello CJ world, I got my first double today and am eager to trade it away. I have a BVG 2.5 #117 Ted Easterly w/ nice corners, moderate staining and a dirty back that I would be willing to part w/ for another common of equal grade or a very minor star card of lesser grade. I can send pics as well. Up to 31 cards including the comiskey today.

  • Welcome Sharma and glad to hear you're making good progress on your set image
  • Well, I am rounding third and heading for home!.

I just discovered this forum thread. I started collecting the 1914 CJ's about three years ago and now find myself a little more than half way through the set (and yes, I already own the Pratt card). Please feel free to take a look at my set at the following link.

    http://s860.photobucket.com/albums/ab168/btkpath/1914 Cracker Jack/

It has been a slow go, but very satisfying. If there is anybody looking to divest themselves of some of their 1914 CJ collection, I would certainly be interested. Just shoot me an email.

I am especially interested in the following cards:
    Frank Smith
    Beals Becker
    Ray Keating
    Ed Konetchy
    Max Carey
    Ad Brennan
    George Suggs

I look forward to hearing from others.

    Thanks!

Welcome to the thread Bktpath! Just to let everyone know he is a great person to deal with and my own deals with him worked smooth as could be expected!

Oh you tease! You had to mention the 1914 Pratt didn't you image

    Rich
  • Wow, it is good to bump into old friends here, Rich (stormsurge).

I should have mentioned above that, for the following 1914 CJ's, I would pay very aggressively!

    Frank Smith
    Beals Becker
    Ray Keating
    Ed Konetchy
    Ad Brennan
    Max Carey

  • Alright guys, how do you get scans into here? They need to be smaller than 50 whatever units that is, and ive scanned and taken pictures w/ multipe camers and all they files are too big and you guys have tons of pics posted. I got a 6. 5.5, 2.5, and 3 1's to sell or trade of 1915 commons. Thanks for any help.

I host mine at photobucket and copy/paste the image link here.
  • Alright, I signed up, got my scans in there, right-clicked copied the image but cu will not allow the paste. I see you collect 4's and up....Anyone else?

    Sharma,

Very strange maybe CU changed the rules...

I need to change my signature - I do only collect 4s and up but now I'm saving $$ to collect the last three I need. Jackson, Collins and Johnson which for those I would probably buy any low grade that had eye appeal.
  • Hello. I am offering (6) different cj commons from the 1915 set, all slabbed. Im up for trades for lower grade cards as I only have 25% of the set or so. I can try to get additional pics/info for those that need it. I have:

#117, Easterly SGC 6 - Nice card, very minor staining on back.
    #31 Wagner SGC 5.5 - Another nice card a tad o/c.
#117 Easterly BVG 2.5 - Staining to front and back would be reason for grade.
#157 Kaiserling PSA 2 - A scuff to bottom left corner area is reason for grade.
#171 Hamilton PSA 1 (MK) - There is a lightly penciled mustache.
#119 Perring PSA 1 - Staining and upper left corner. - SOLD!

Im open to offers for other 1915 cjs in low grade w/ all the paper and no writing and also good ol' $$$$$$. Im new to this forum but am rainier2004 on ebay and primarily deal w/ vintage cards only. Send any questions and thanks for looking.

Scans can be seen @ http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=138130 I had trouble uploading pics/scans onto this site.

  • so i've been reading the earlier posts and is it true 1914 cracker jacks are rarely reprinted/faked?
  • I'm by no means an expert on fraudulant CJ sales, but in my searches, I've found that the 1915 CJs are far more prone to counterfeiting than their '14 counterparts. The thin '14 paper is a difficult thing to reproduce, but since a '15 reprint set was distributed in 1993, everyone and their cousin seems to have made attempts to sell them as an original. If you see white borders and no caramel stains, put on the breaks. As Mr. Orlando would say, "Never get cheated."

  • You're on quite a mission Barry and I'm glad to see that you're coming along so well. If anyone has any 1914s to sell that Barry needs you couldn't find a better buyer!

  • I have the following '14 CJs available from upgrades that I have made. If you are interested in them, let me know.

I have removed the images because the cards have been sold.
  • Hey Packman,

Would you mind posting the link to your CJ collection once again? I thought I might've viewed it once before on a Photobucket-like site, but that was some time ago. You wouldn't happen to have any spare '15 CJs lying around, would you?
