I planning on starting to focus on these exclusively in the near future. I didn't realize there was a book coming out next year on the set, so I need to get a good start before the rush.
Recently I had some new additions to my set too, and have finally completed the 1914 CJ set. The last two cards were the Cobb and Wagner!. I will try to post pics shortly.
If anybody is interested in some of my duplicates, I will have about 85 of them (when they finally arrive at my doorstep). Shoot me an email and I will get you a list.
85 '14 CJ duplicates?! Dang! Those are gonna make you popular with the fellas.
I appreciate the cheerleading, guys, as it keeps me focused on finishing this bad boy. 37 more cards still seems like quite a chore for me - especially after putting in five years to get this far.

Scout - I've decided to adopt a similar approach as you have. I'm going to attempt to do the 1915 set in PSA 2. I have some raw and SGC's to cross over. I know that only focusing on one grade will more than likely slow me down, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Congrats on a complete 1914 set, thats a big one and seems a little contagious as you're the 3rd collector in the past couple months to come to the top of that hill...now time to upgrade!
Jared, I should have a couple for ya later in the week, possibly this one for sale!
Some of the guys might think you're a little nutty for doing so, I actually think you'll find real purpose in builing a uniform set. It's kept me from bankrupting myself, and also turned this into a real treasure hunt. I now have to really work for these cards, and every new acquisition excites the heck outta me. I've actually sold off several surplus PSA 2s over the past year, and if you're committed to the PSA 2 strategy, I'll run 'em by you first (Provided Steve doesn't need them...lol). Good luck!

Moving thru this lot and have 16 cards left (Nice raw Marquard and sgc 2 Carey added). I wanted to clean up the site to make it easier. Shoot me an offer if you dont think the price is fair, I dont bite. The list has been updated. Looking for trades as well at:
Raw commons (8): 60 Dugey – Nice card. - $95. 93 Pratt – Present very nice with wrinkle to back across card not seen on front. - $95 125 Niehoff – Nice clean front with some caramel and other staining. - $80 151 Whitted – Nice card, with some staining to back. - $95 155 Connolly - Nice card, with some staining to back. - $95 162 Stallings – Nice card with some heavier staining to bottom. - $95 168 Campbell – Nice card, with some staining to back. - $95 175 Benz – Rounded corners, presentable with a clean back. - $65
HOFers/Stars (5) 3 Tinker – This is a very nice card with a beautiful front and a single light corner crease. Rear has light damage to ad. - $285 6 Plank – SGC 4.5 Crad has very bright color and nice appearance. - $835 43 Marquard - NIce, verticle crease in the middle w/ great centering and fat borders with a clean back. - $225 73 Carey - SGC 2 - $200 99 Chase – SGC 1.5 - $175
Shipping is on me but insurance is optional and on you for the cost. Ill try to ship and help quickly but am scheduled for 12 hour shifts at times including nmon-wed this week. PP gift is easiest for me but will take most forms of payment. References available upon request and easier direct contact at stevensuckow@hotmail.com. Thanks for your interest.
My gut is telling me that I'll probably slide into home around mid-late 2014. I need to have this bad boy completed by late 2014 or very early 2015 cuz I've got some plans ;-)
Heck, I've even been contemplating my next set pursuit, but I know that I'll have to wait until after my CJs are done because my past attempts at collecting in tandem always seem to fail. '54 Red Hearts. Nope. '34 Goudey. Nope. T205 Gold Border. Napes! '53 Topps raw. Nah! A single-set focus has helped to keep me motivated, but I'm gonna need another set to collect when this is done just to keep things interesting. My only self-imposed guidelines would be that it be PSA graded, not more than 250 cards and pre-1955. Any ideas out there?

I vote for Diamond Stars. 108 cards, one of the best designs of all time, and is a different era than CJ's with no overlap. Alternately '41 Playball, for the same reasons.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
I long wanted to build a master set (my definition is different players and poses I had no plan to go as far as different team affiliations etc) as well and started down that road but now that I've seen how much the 14 Del Pratt sells for I see I won't be able to finish. It's a nice card but there is no way I'm paying those kinda prices.
Yeah stormsurge. The prices for a Pratt are simply ridiculous. It is hard to believe that it would be conceivable that I could offer to trade a low grade Jackson AND a Cobb for a Pratt and somebody might still think that I am trying to be too cheap. In my opinion, the Pratt portrait in the '15 set is a much nicer and interesting image. If I had not picked my Pratt up early on in my collection, I think it is likely that I would have given up collecting the set.
I hope everyone is off to a great start this year. I just started grad school last week so I may be taking a temporary break from my set, or at the very least, embark upon a less aggressive search for the remaining 31 cards I need. I'll continue checking in, though, so please keep the pics and updates coming.
Take care!

Well, I hope everybody had a great New Year.
Since I have not been successful in figuring out how to post pictures on this forum, I thought I would direct you to this post on a different board.
