I know ultra pro makes magazine covers, Im not sure that would work, there probably isn't much of a demand for panel holders,
even though there wasn't much of a demand for T211 holders, until A&G came out.

Did you pick up that Mantle/Brooks dual?

    Kevin
  • Options
No Kevin, I didn't see the mantle/brooks. I have to vent a little the USPS is killing me, I have 2 packages coming from the same post office shipped the same day both priority mail and one showed up yesterday and I thought the other would show up today but no luck, hopefully it shows up tomorrow I really want to rip my other 3 boxes.

There are binder sheets for the panels- they are 3 pocket that are used for currency.
I got a sheet with the complete list of panels yesterday, looks like 88 in the set.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

I expect retail to hit my area next Tues/Wed. That would mirror last year. I bought hobby as soon as my local shop got it last year on Feb 28th. Then checked Target/Walmart everyday starting on the 5th or 6th. Target was first here (north of Baltimore, MD) with blaster boxes on March 14th. That was exactly 2 after hobby last year.

This year, 2 weeks would be Wednesday March 12th.

Does anyone else feel a little creppy walking through 2 different Targets everyday, speed-walking to that shelf at the end of the line of registers and then walking away trying to act like you weren't scoping out Yu-Gi-Oh cards ??

You can always tell who the other Heritage guys are because they smell like Topps gum.
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

It's even more awkward with your wife waiting as you look into the 3 or 4 deep blaster rows in the hopes of finding some overlooked Heritage. Or the stares you get in line from the people w/ a cart full of 'important stuff' when you have just a few small boxes and the cashier says $105 please".

I know it's Heritage season when I go to dump my overflowing office trashcan only to realize that the full bag weighs 2 ounces b/c it's just full of wrappers.

I'm very pleased with my first large scale foray into heritage. I definitely beat the odds with my case. I believe 4 of my jerseys had stripes (Berkman, Hunter, Minoso, Oswalt).

Griffins, thanks for the info on the currency sheets. Unfortunately nobody locally carries those so I bought some sheet protectors, cut them down the side and broke out the trusty food saver to make the seams. Not as pretty as the real thing but it works for now.

I could use the Smoltz. I'm sure I have a Cubs game used around here...

Well, I have seen quite a few boxes on here with both a GU and an auto, that Minoso box plus ink might take the cake. I guess
that is making up for the boxes with neither in them!

    retail search day 2: nada

    Im really jonesing here!

I'm sure you've posted it before, but why don't you just open hobby?

Also, does anyone think the prices of these boxes will drop or will they remain in the $60 area or maybe even increase over time, like A&G?

There are two shops in town here one I have already raided and pulled ink, so I hate to open out of cases that probably won't have
ink. The second store I am boycotting because I go there alot but he won't give me a 5 dollar break on a box.

    Kevin
  • Options
Tim, that's the hard one to pull. Kevin, I know what you mean, I've wiped out the local shops and have not been able to find any retail yet.

I think the Yogi CC might be a short print also. There haven't been to many on Ebay.I got $50 for mine.It also appears Berkman is the most common of the bunch.

So far Gibson is the least seen on eBay. Only 2 !!! One sold on a BIN for $45 a few days ago. I nabbed the other for $4 in a relic lot with a nice BIN.

Thanks guys for all of the great comments about my pulls. My final tallies for the 11 boxes were:

    2 autos
    11 relics
    2 black refractors
    9 refractors
    33 chromes
only missing 2 NAP, the other three insert sets were complete

Still sorting everything else. All in all I have nothing to complain about. Would have liked one of the variation cards though.

    The Year of the Minnie?

    MD, very nice box!

Anybody else picking up some really good deals online? A little bit of heresy, but I think I could have made an amazing set with the $ I have spent so far in boxes just picking up singles and lots. Maybe I wasn't as active last year, but it seems like there are a hell of a lot more /10, /25 relics and autos out there right now and thus pushing the prices down. Seems like it should be a limited market for these things, thereby keeping prices steady. Has to be more than 25 hardcore Heritage guys/gals.

Even if you sell it, Nick, you have to enter that Flood in the Buyback contest. Mike's entry is very nice, but yours is really, really nice.

Where is retail??? I have only seen one EBay seller with retail boxes and he has been selling them for over a week now. You would think that more than one person would have retail since this seller has had it for so long. Also, I have not even heard of any retail blaster sightings. Usually once the blasters hit Targets and Wal-Mart stores I have to wait a week for them to filter down here to Texas so my retail wait will continue to wait! image

I think I'm the last of the group to get their Heritage this year. I have the tracking numbers and my two cases are arriving via USP on Thursday at 2 p.m. I'll be in rip-until-I'm-done mode until I finish. Ironically, I'm receiving my cards on the exact day and hour I got them last year! I wish I didn't go with a new supplier. Next year I'll go back to LR Cards.

Last year I pre-sold a couple of master and base sets. I'm glad I didn't this year because of the furor surrounding the green and black backs. And the extra week has prepared me for how I will sort them and package base sets for eBay.

But it has been a loooooooooong week. Can't wait to show you my Mantle auto and all the other great cards I'll be getting!

Hopefully my boxes will show up today, I emailed that ebay seller with the retail asking if he had a discounted case price. I haven't heard back from him, he's only about 2 hours away from me so I may have to make a road trip...... Kevin, the only Aparicio auto relic I've seen sold 2 days ago for $246, but I will keep my eye out and let you know if I see one.
