What an absolute BONEHEAD move by topps to jack up the odds on retail. Its bad enough that they are selling 3 card packs of bowman chrome where two of the cards are worthless, but this really sucks. I guess topps felt that instead of putting out more packs, they would offer less packs full of nothing but base cards! This now makes two year in a row where topps has made major mistakes. Last year with their chrome checklist, and this year watering down retail so much that it is no longer an option.
I am soooo glad that no one on there pre ordered a bunch of this garbage and would of been stuck with a bunch of base cards. Inserting 1 to 2 chrome cards per box only is stupid. Maybe a bunch of hobby dealers whined that they couldn't make any money off this stuff..well you know what, heritage isn't about making money, its was SUPPOSED to be about fun and building a set with family and friends, but once again topps tries news ways to save money, at the expense of collectors who have build this set for 8 years plus
It's amazing what being away on a trip for three days means to a Heritage addiction. I think I was about 15 pages behind on this thread to start, and not having any interaction with other Heritage nuts was tough. The good news is that I just came home to my second case of Hobby, so hopefully I'll get some ripping in later...

Opened first box today and noticed something about the green back counterpart to the black backs. Normal box, nothing special, inserts or SPs in 21 packs. In the other three packs the seventh card was green back 127, 267 & 338 - all three have black backs. Altogether, there were 5 green back/black cards. More SPs in the box than green back/blacks.

<< <i>Does anyone have a Joe Girardi #389 with a facsimile auto on it? Does he not have one because he's a manager? >>
hmmm interesting. All 5 that I pulled are missing the sig too but that brings up another point. That card is a checklist card. I thought all the check list cards were Team cards. Is Girardi taking the place of a Yankees team card? Or is there another card as the Yankees team card? Don't remember seeing one and then, where are all the other manager cards?....
edit - just checked Topps' site and on their official checklist, it lists card #389 as the Yankees team card not Joe Girardi.
Looks like my package popped back up on the USPS tracking radar, should have a few boxes to rip today. Feels good knowing that my fix is only a few short hours away.
<< <i>Could anyone please post odds of a retail pack? I am curious to see if there is a difference between retail and retail blaster.
Craig in Texas >>
Craig,
I couldn't enlarge the wrapper enough to make it legible. I have to leave now as I teach two classes today, but I'll put up the odds, if no one else does, tonight about 9:00 EST.
In mail today! paid 35$ for it. hope its a good deal havent seen to many of these on ebay. looks to be as rare as the minnie momosa jersey. maybe more yogi's in retail?
no blasters in atlanta yet as of yesterday. will look again today!
My 3d box, i got, 8 SPs. THC. 3 NAP. 2 T&N. 2 FBF. 2 FBN.2 Flashback relic. Ernie Banks. 1 panel 1 buyback. Box #4 9 SPs Derek Jeter refractor No auto or relic. I tried posting pictures but failed. guess i dont know how to do it? Dave
Do you guys think I have a problem? I brought two boxes with me to work, went out to my car during my lunch break, and ripped them all while chewing heritage gum. Got a Freddy Sanchez redemption cc auto, a Mazeroski seat, and a couple of modern clubhouses.
<< <i>Do you guys think I have a problem? I brought two boxes with me to work, went out to my car during my lunch break, and ripped them all while chewing heritage gum. . >>
<< <i>CubsFan, where are you at? I know out of 2 cases you must have pulled some ink, let's see some scans. >>
Still have a sealed case. I'm not doing anything with it till I finish sorting base and sp's. You know if I get rid of it there will be a great pull in it
<< <i>Do you guys think I have a problem? I brought two boxes with me to work, went out to my car during my lunch break, and ripped them all while chewing heritage gum. Got a Freddy Sanchez redemption cc auto, a Mazeroski seat, and a couple of modern clubhouses. >>
LOL that's cool - that makes 3 of us from here that pulled that #/25 Sanchez card
<< <i>I just chewed card #331 Travis Hafner and it DID taste better than the gum! >>
LOL I hate the gum the last 2 years-sort of a cherry flavor to it and hard. The '06 gum had me hooked (retail).
ON the Minoso & other CC relics, assuming a 2 million total pack run ......Minoso has about 111 cc relics while each of the others (Berra, Aparicio, Maz, & Gibson) would have 125. Maybe the reason so few Berras (and Gibsons) have showed on eBay in comparison is that there has been so much hype over the difficulty of the Minoso card.
Well just back from a retail run, Target did have 3 new boxes of retail but no blasters, after seeing the poor odds in the retail I actually passed on all of them. But when I got home the mailman had brought me 3 boxes, and UPS should be showing up with another one soon. Report shortly.
Interesting: Chrome and Refractors are over twice as hard in Retail. Blacks are 1-315 Hobby to 1-450. What's that about? Also, with all the Minoso/Berra talk, look at the odds for Group A and Group B between the two. Retail, Group A 1 - 7,400; Hobby, Group A 1 - 4,100. Retail, Group B 1 - 7,800; Hobby Group B 1 - 18,000??? Screw-up on the Hobby odds of Group B? Just got (relatively) easier to get a Minoso in Retail? Finally, look at the Dual Flashback Relic odds in Retail 1 - 40,000 vs. 1 - 55,000 in Hobby. Double huh?

Master set – 3 SPs needed (447, 485, 488)
Did anyone pull a Yankees team card?

Craig,
I couldn't enlarge the wrapper enough to make it legible. I have to leave now as I teach two classes today, but I'll put up the odds, if no one else does, tonight about 9:00 EST.

LOL that's cool - that makes 3 of us from here that pulled that #/25 Sanchez card
needs them

<< <i>I just chewed card #331 Travis Hafner and it DID taste better than the gum! >>
LOL
I hate the gum the last 2 years-sort of a cherry flavor to it and hard.
