Looks like we got what was coming to us, we got lucky against the Braves yesterday and it caught up to us. Its only one game but we cant get caught sleeping...
<< <i>how about moving Lowell to number four and dropping Manny to five and Drew to six? >>
They want the lefty>righty>lefty combo thing with Ortiz, Manny, and Drew. Manny is struggling, but he is still Manny and still commands enough respect at the plate to get Ortiz the pitches he needs. Besides, Lowell is like 3 for 15 or something like that against Wang before the start of the game last night.
It was just a badly played game last night. Untimely hitting and a sub-par outing by Wake did them in last night. Oh well, they had to come down to earth sometime.
Well, you do have Moose coming off a bad start. Even he was ripping himself apart after that game. Be ready for a more focused Moose tonight, especially against the Sox. This is a huge series. Will be interesting to see where everyone stands at All Star break.
He is a sore loser and when the chips are down he is a cheap player. It will be hard for him to embarress himself any more than he did in the '04 ALCS though...
ARod is a punk. I saw that cheap play last night, and just shook my head. It's par for the course for him, but nothing will beat his girly slap from the 2004 ALCS.
Anybody care to comment on why the Sox out bean Yankees by a rate of 3 to 1 in the last 7 years or so? Up all of your Red socks with your cheap shot tears
Where did you come up with that Stat Dan? I understand your sorely frustrated by your teams miserable season so far but you cant argue that Arod is the cryin' buddy. He thought he would be guaranteed a ring by joining up with the Yankees and it has not and prolly will not ever happen.
Dan, did you see the play? I can't believe you'd defend an obvious cheap shot like that - it really looked bad. Even the Yankee announcers, who would never say a bad word about the devil himself if he wore pinstripes, were a bit taken aback by that play. Of course, they stopped short of actually calling him a cheap shot artist, but they clearly didn't need to.
I'd be very disapointed if they keep Schilling in much longer. Who would have guessed that out of Wakefield, Tavarez, and Schilling it would be Tavarez that was able to tame the Yankee bats?
The good thing about these Sox is that even down 6-0 in the 4th inning doesn't mean they're out of it yet.
Address why the Red Sox have OUT BEANED Yankees by a 3-1 ratio in the last 7 years before any of you continue to cry about a slide into second base. Can you all be any more WEAK then that?
Jerry, you profess to listen to Mike and the Mad Dog ONLY WHEN they slam the Yankees? Have you not listened to the WELL documented count that they keep on Yankees decked compared to Sox in the last 7 years? Selective hearing of course ......
Paul, Its common knowledge and don't come up with the usual "link please" crap. Derek Jeter is a favorite target of Red Sox pitchers and that is the TIP of the iceberg.
The fact that Ortiz and Manny have not eat some major dirt by now is beyond me ...... so, spare me the tears becuase A-Rod slid in hard on your beloved Sox. It is baseball and I am MIFFED as a Yankee fan that none of this big Sox guns are not dusted with all the Yankees hit since 2000.
Hey dont be Pi$$ed at us just because your pitching staff knows nothing about protecting their own, and as far as us whining about a "slide" into second, please Dan lets be real here ok? Hitting batters is one thing but the ridiculas play by your highest paid player is another thing. Hey maybe Clemens will teach his fellow hurlers how to play the game at least.
Ok, then don't be pi$$ed at A-Rod becuase he took a shot at you .... good for him and hopefully the trend continues to even the score. It is baseball fellas, lets not cry like this is a little league game on a sunny Saturday afternoon in your hometown. That slide was like a bouquet of flowers compared to a true cheap shot.
Again, BOOO HOOO HOOO ....... lets get it on
Lets not forget how you Sox fans CHEARED Jason Varitek's bush league shove of A-Rod a few years ago. One of you even have it as your icon. Good for A-Rod ..... and hopefully the Yankees are sparked from here.
Lets not forget how you Sox fans CHEARED Jason Varitek's bush league shove of A-Rod a few years ago.
Please refresh my memory, wasn't Arod trying to go after the pitcher and Tek was protecting his own? The Arod got in his face, tried to push him outta the way and Tek retalliated? Please do tell the story once more

A-Rod was barking at your beloved pitcher. From 60 FEET away and was HARDLY going after him. Varitek was BUSH as that shove happened right at home plate. It sparked the Sox from there and good for them. Your memory is bad ....
And GOOD for A-ROd for taking a shot that was actually in the flow of a play and not a cheap shot from a guy with a mask on. Please
Clemens will hopefully teach young Arod how to play the game. Also dont act like your going to do something ( like go after a pitcher) then stop and get into a catchers face (and try to touch noses)
<< <i>Clemens will hopefully teach young Arod how to play the game. Also dont act like your going to do something ( like go after a pitcher) then stop and get into a catchers face (and try to touch noses) >>
You know what is really funny? The fact that Sox fans dismiss A-Rod's slap at the ball when he WAS IN THE BASE LINE. You all would have LAUDED that move had it been a Sox running down the line. As gay as it looked, A-Rod was doing whatever he could to win and SOx fans are BLIND to that. A-Rod was in the base line and what he really should have done was FLATTEN the pitcher.
<< <i>Dan that is very funny, thanks for the humor! >>
Your welcome, but I must tell you that I am FAR from alone with that view point. Outside of the New England bubble that was a play would have been GENIOUS had he gotten away with it. Really, he should have tarred and feathered the pitcher for sticking his arm in HIS base path. But, alas, it didn't look pretty. Hopefully the next time he makes the pitcher part of the base line
I agree I don't know why more players dont take a pitcher or other player out while tagging them in the baseline. At least try and dislodge the ball instead of just giving up

Are you guys serious? Honestly if you dont think that was the most BUSH league play then it is no use arguing about it. There is no bubble in New England as far as that goes, most people OUTSIDE of New York would agree.
Anyway, A-Rod or anybody else has the right to do whatever it take to win. If the ump calls you on it then fine. You Sox fans need to stop crying like 3 year olds who lost their ever present pacifier EVERY time something happens to your sacred Sox. Also, don't talk anything about bush league moves until one of you admits Jason Varitek was as bush as can be by hitting A-Rod. A-Rod had the class to do something in the FLOW of the game and not with full catchers gear on. The very fact yopu guys LAUD Varitek for that and then cry your eyes out about these other things confirms the New England bubble angle on all of this.
Jerry, I am still waiting to hear about why on earth you reference Mike and the Mad Dog ONLY when they are bashing the Yankees? And why you care to NOT comment about how well documented the Red Sox bean ball count is WAY out of hand in the Sox favor? You know ...... Mike and the Mad Dog have been keeping score since Pedro was there. It is in the range of 37 to 14 hit batters. So, stop the crying about a little hard slide into your precious infielder.
Dan - I must have missed that. I agree, Mike & The Mad Dog (actually Mike Francesa only) has been mentioning for years that he can't believe the Yankee pitchers don't hit Manny or Ortiz more often. I never understood that. I don't recall any of those "37" you mention as being intentional anyway (okay, maybe Pedro had 1 or 2) but Mike seems to think that they should throw at Manny or Ortiz as some sort of message, because they both absolutely destroy Yankee pitching. Mike Francesa is a smart guy, and I like listening to him (especially on football) but here I think he speaks as a frustrated Yankee fan. He's not as bad as say, Michael Kay, but he often speaks as a Yankee fan first and an objective baseball analyst second.
What good is throwing at those guys going to do anyway? You don't think guys like Schilling and Tavarez (who is nuts!) wouldn't even the score right away? Then, we don't have baseball anymore - we have hockey. Who wants that?

I would be very disappointed in Schilling if he failed to pitch A-Rod inside.
