For the record, when I was buying boxes of 78s from Steve about a year ago, he had two listed on his site- a regular box at @ $525, and a case-fresh box at $575. I always went case-fresh and was never disappointed. I just wanted to point this out because he has made a distinction in the past.

I personally would love to do a Topps wax carton run from at least 1980 to present if I could afford it; quite interesting collectibles and much rarer than sets. image

I removed the email from Steve and have reposted it here so that the sign up post will not be so crowded:

    UPDATE

I just heard back from Steve at BBCE. He did not offer us the 10%, but I still think that it is a good offer considering that the price he quoted is a delivered price. Here is a copy of the email:

    << Rick,
I can sell the case for $9000.00 dlvd. It's not exactly the 10% off, but
when I bought these, it wasn't cheap! It would help if you(I'm not sure
where you are located) or someone who bought it was out of the state of IL.
That way you can afford sales tax.

    Thanks! Steve

Kind of interesting for the 78T collector - the Toppsvault has some positive color separation proof cards on ebay.

Tho this looks black, it's the blue separation card. There's the two Ryan cards up - they will get some competitive bidding.

  • Sorry guys but I need to vent for a minute. I just got a not so nice little pm from someone I wont name. Accusing me of putting these pack rips and case rips together to make a nice profit. Im floored. I want you guys to know I am in this as a hobbyist just like the rest of you guys. Luckily i am afforded the luxury of time and patience to put these rips together. They are alot of work and i spend about 20-30 hours total per rip with all the emails and packaging proccesing and shipping. I can guarantee you I have not made a dollar on a single rip and i dont want to. This is fun for all of us and I want you guys to know I like doing this and dont want anyone thinking I'm doing this for profit. Believe me I dont need to make a buck this way. Im thankful god has granted me a healthy and luxurious lifestyle. Plus I consider you all friends and my first rule to a fault is never try to make a buck off of friends.
The only one making out here is bbcexchange with the thousands of dollars we are spending with him.

For those who might think other wise here is a exact breakdown for this case rip so you can see I am not making anymoney off of this.

Case $9000 divide by 64 lots of 9 140.62 per lot

    1 lot 140.62packs+4.68paypalfees+4.35shipping=149.65

    2lots 281.24packs+8.91paypalfees+6.65shipping=296.80

    3 lots 421.86packs+13.24paypalfees+8.80shipping=443.90

    1 box 462.50box+16.65paypalfees+8.80shipping+587.95

So you add it all up I am not doing this for profit.

Sorry to rant and rave guys I was just very upset by this persons pm and accusationsimage

Now lets all have some fun and pull lots of psa 10's so you can sell them to me to finish my 78 setimage

Not only do you not make a profit, but you have to go into your own pocket just to ship. Anyone who has ever been a part of these rips know how well packed they are when they arrive. 80's supplies all the boxes, bubble wrap and labels not to mention the time to go to the post office to ship this stuff.

I wasn't even involved in this case rip and I enjoyed reading about it so much that I feel like I'm a part of it! What 80s is doing here is VERY generous, and he is obviously not making anything from this besides good friendships. Kudos man!

I just can't wait to read about all of the pulls and sub pops!!
  • Thanks softparade and bunker. I didnt want to turn this into a thanks 80s situation I just had to vent and I did. So back to the fun okimage

Out the SOB so we know who it is
  • Gary,
Keep up the great work in putting this together. I am very excited about getting boxes from the case. I have looked at the case a number of times on the BBC Exchange and considered putting together a group to buy it. I just haven't had the time to devote the way you have. Your efforts are very much appreciated by those who are participating in the rips so don't waste a minute worrying about what some miserable person thinks. I'm really looking forward to my boxes. ;-)

I would guess all it would take is one time organizing one of these rips and the complainer would eat his words. It takes me 4 hours to put together a PSA submission, so I can imagine 20-30 hours putting one of these together is probably understated if anything!

We appreciate all you do 80s, don't let the negative people bother you!
