I don't think you necessarily missed out. Jerry just went away 'til morning. Your post will probably still get you a slot in Round 2. He just won't be back to moderate it and fill up the rest of the round for a few hours, that's all.
Well, at least there's some interest, now. He couldn't fill up the round last night, and had to go off to bed with no takers! We were starting to worry that VTH3 was looking like a flop for a minute, there!
Of course, the fun's just begun. And our heavyweight diggers have yet to strut their stuff.
I'd like a spot please, if there are any left. I only get to a chance to check this board on my lunch break at work so it's beginning to look like I'll never get a chance to get in one of the hunts.

But there's a slight snag.
Round 3 will be split in half and played in two different sections.
John ("goldrush00013") dug the first five targets of Round 3, but then his detector died. Furthermore, he's got weather issues.
SO, he will open Round 3 normally, and take assignments for the first five targets (Targets #25-29). Then he will announce the results.
THEN Gary ("BentFork") will step in and do his duty as the Alternate Digger, digging the last seven targets of Round 3 (Targets #30-36). Gary will open the last half of Round 3 for entries after he's done his digging, and after John has completed and announced the results of the first half of the round.
Stay tuned for goldrush00013 to announce the opening of the first half of Round 3 (Targets 25-29 only).
I would imagine it will be at least 12 hours, if not longer, before John comes back on. After all, it is the middle of the night here in the USA. Maybe he will be on in the morning but I don't know.

I bought it with the thought that if somebody would rather have big Spanish silver than small Spanish gold, it could be an alternate prize.
It's not gold but the shipwreck pedigree is cool. And a silver eight-reales and gold half-escudo had the same face value back in the 1780s.

Designated Digger #2 (CROCKofCOINS),
I took one of the grand kids out Sat. AM. Jan 13th. I had to make it easy for her. So off we go to a school yard.
It is big..has two parts:
I just got going and her little detector went dead. :-( I had new batt. but no phillips screwdriver.
So she got to play on the swings and whatever.
Not much to take photos of when just using the sand scoop.
