    Just a heads-up!

I saw this listing for a '75 mini wax box, just up for bids on "feebay"!

Opening bid is $999 (with five + days to go!). Interesting to see if there is anyone left "out there" who will bid on this? My personal spin is yes, there should be a bidder or two willing to pull the trigger on this 31 year old wax box. We shall see if someone, "outside the CU universe" does indeed bid on this box.

I do not know this seller, but he does seem to look pretty legit, u think? image

To be frank - I never cared for Graf that much. You were gonna pay FULL+++++ retail for cards in not all that great a shape, for the prices they wanted. IMO.

I had more than a few nice finds there (graf). Generally paid close to NM book for vintage, but landed quite a few 8's. Sorry to hear that they shut down - and sorry for the dead lead on a shop 80's. Any of you Chicago guys find any place else worth going to?

Until May, I lived in Chicagoland. Last time I went to Graf was like 2-3 years ago and thought it was a rat's nest. Looked through some 70s raw and was generally unimpressed.

AU is another shop up in Skokie. They have TONS of stuff, but the building is pretty decrepit. Most of their older stuff is VG/EX at best. Every time I go in there, I have the theme from Sanford & Son playing in my head.

Mike, sounds like your experience was different (and better image) than mine - overall much of what I looked at seemed to be EX-MT+ at best that they wanted full book NM prices on.

I don't know the seller either but if I were buying a '75 Mini Box, I would pay the extra cash and get something I absolutely KNOW is legit.

A good card shop in Naperville. They do not have any old wax but the owner is nice and the prices are fair.

It sure is. I grew up not far from there.

I actually got a steal from them about 4 years ago. They had 30 '79 FB wax packs left in a box in the display case. They looked legit and tightly wrapped so I asked the price. There were 3 guys in there that asked one another the price and finally one guy said, "$1.50 a pack." I was shocked, but I said "Thanks," and kept walking around. I went back to the guy and said "I want a couple of the '79 packs, can you pull the box out?"

He did, and they were legit. I bought them all for $1.50/pack. $45 well spent. I got a PSA 9 Lofton and a PSA 9 Staubach.

    Hey Zef,

OK, tomorrow is the big day. Why don't you give us all a rundown of how you have the day planned out tomorrow. What time will you be arriving? Do you expect to get all the packs shipped out? How will the packs be shipped?

That's weird. I just talked to my buddy who works in a Chicago post office and he said some guy just left there with a $23,000 money order. When I asked for a description he just said he had a dangling cigarette in his mouth and when he left he had double-guns raised in the air screaming "Vegas, baby! Vegas!"

This could just be completely coincidental though. image

Aren't USPS money orders only valid up to 750.00??
