I opened my first two packs tonight (not too much free time). I scored a nice Brett. So far I only pulled two badly centered cards. Maybe the quality control guy woke up.
Always looking for interesting Don Mattingly and New York Yankees related items.
My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
Well I got absolutely nothing from my six loose packs (no stars and not one gradeable card) and unfortunately I'm in for two more full boxes. At this point I'm willing to offer up the boxes for my cost of $1450 and will pay the shipping. The boxes have not been opened and are in fact still in the box that was shipped to me.
Given the results posted in this thread it's a longshot. Any takers?
Well, I opened up one more pack, UGH, no stars and each card was severely warped! Yech.
But, on the bright side, the 3 remaining packs I have sealed don't seem distorted? It was quite a surprise though. And the one with the Brett showing on the back seems straight enough.
With my batch of 6 packs, I won some, lost some. C'est la vie!
The Brock is the only one from my packs from this break. The others are from a GAI 7.5 pack I bought from Steve 4-5 months ago.

do you think a 9 o/c would yield a 7 if No qualifiers are requested?

I've been trying to hunt down some solid info on that point myself. From what I can gather, PSA admits that there are "high end" and "low end" examples of any one grade and that adjustments in price are reasonable. I've also gathered that there are (obviously) varying degrees of a qualifier and this, too, will affect the price and eye appeal of a card.
Because of this, I'd say that there's apossibility you could get an 8 back depending on the severity of the qualifier and the condition of the rest of the card. Personally, I would rather have a PSA 9OC for stuff pre-1980.
I sent in about twenty cards from the packs I opened last Saturday. I'll fill in everyone when they show up on the site...so far no notification of receipt in Newport Beach....al.
<< <i>im building a psa 8 set so if anyone gets 8's and wants to sell let me know >>
I have a Brett and Yount for sale in the buy/sale/trade forum. I wish I could build a complete PSA 8 set, I don't think I could stay focused long enough to find them all in such high grade! I've always loved the '75 Topps set, though for some reason I still prefer the regular sized cards. I really wish I would have stumbled upon this thread sooner and been able to participate.....this rip sounded like so much fun. Congrats on your pulls guys and the fun you had along the way.....great stuff!! Seems like a great board where people can organize a big expensive rip like this .....I'll have to get more involved!
my submission to PSA was logged in on the 15th of November. no further word. I would guess the holiday has something to do with no further word...I noticed on another thread that PSA didn't work on Friday, or at least it appeared that no one was working on Friday...

I think this will make a great top since i am changing the bar to more of a sports theme. >>
Someone tell this idiot that there is NO SUCH THING as a 12-card 1975 wax pack! If you're going to fabricate your own packs from wrappers and singles, at least know how many cards come in a pack, geez!

Yep, best card in the case so far. I haven't measured the centering but, to the eye, it looks like the card could go 9.
