Wow Don that Triandos is a real tuffy. It appears that so many of them have that snowy type surface on them.I am getting myself prepared for the National and I am going with intentions of finding some of my lower graded variations that could help me go up to that 7.5 to 8 goal I want to reach before I retire it.The only card I probably will not try to update is my phillies team card that is a 9OC however its still a beauty and even to find a straight 8 will cost me more than I am willing to spend.I will be a retiree (June 3RD) by then and my mad money account will be a little trimmer.

How many PSA 9 1959 Topps can you purchase for less than $100? Checking the POP report and recent ebay sales I would guess about 60-75. I haven't checked VCP, but from following sales from the past few years that would be my guess.

There seems to be several cards I beleive from the 5th series that 9s are fairly common.Who in Chicago this week will have 59 topps 8s and 9s which is one of my mssions.I already know that 707 will have some.Anyone else off hand?

  • Pardon the Ebay spam, but I'm going to be breaking a high grade 59 set tonight on Ebay.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

Hi Everyone, love reading this forum and I decided it was time to jump in....been collecting the 59's for about 3 years now, got my set completed a few months back, with 6's or higher and slowly working to replace those out too....The 59's are a great set, the colors just jump out at me and when I started this set, I had a bunch of raw cards, not in the greatest of shape, so I decided to try buying them graded. 3 years later, I'm still going at it, the basic set is completed and getting closer to less than 50 cards below a 7...It's great to see them up here and although I doubt I'll ever get as nice of a set as you guys, I really enjoy reading this and as I see a great deal, I'll pickup a few more to add to the collection...

Also decided to put scans up of every card, front and back (wow, now that was some work and I swear the scanner started smokin!) for everyone to enjoy!

    My Personal 59 Set

Thanks for the great reading and I'll keep enjoying new stuff to read in this forum!

PS. Just waiting for the post office to deliver my new batch of 59's that I won on eBay a few days ago...Can't wait to add them into the set, think I might finally get to #29 on the list!!!

Thanks Everyone!...Kinda of a sad day today, had 28 new additions coming in for the set, and wouldn't you know that guy "MURPHY" got me again, received the box, banged up, hole on the bottom and somehow, 28 PSA 59's were missing...And on top of that, another package I had coming with 2 more additions earlier in the week, that got lost en-route...Geez, I've been selling stuff on eBay for years and my customers get their products without a hitch, but then when I get mine (okay, the last 2 but still image )something seems to happen...oh well, what are you going to do....at least one of the packages was insured (not the big order), will see what I can at the PO...

Thanks James on the offer, actually one of those was coming in the package, the Aguirre in an 8...I'll have to hold off for a bit, as I was going to use my proceeds from sales of the ones I was replacing to start getting a few more upgrades.....

Probstein123 has some up tonight, maybe I'll try and see if I can catch a couple of them to make the weekend not a total waste!...

At least (I hope!) I did get me a nice 75 mini of Brett coming in early next week and I have a couple of common 59's (PSA 8's) that should arrive soon!

    Crossing fingers!

    Ken,
That sucks with losing packages and our stolen and damaged items.
I have a PO Box I don't trust anyone bring my mail from the Post Office.
My home mailbox is a box of 25 our other peoples mailboxes easy to put it
in the wrong one which they do. But have never had this problem at the
post office maybe they just don't tell me.image

PM sent about some 75 Topps Mini's I have.

Thanks!, yea, been a bit strange this week on deliveries, at least I have the insurance claim on a couple, see if that works, I have the PO checking on the missing ones, doubt anything will happen but you never know....anyhow, finally got another one in for my 59 set, #158, was able to get a good deal on moving that up to an 8...of course, got a bit worried on that one too, was told it was shipped, waited a week, no delivery, then pinged the guy, was out of town and come to find out that he sent to wrong address (personally I think he just plain forgot to send, as it has happened before), so 1 more upgrade, got 5 coming in I hope really soon from Rick, can't wait to add those...

Was happy that I got my 75 mini Brett in, beautiful card, IMHO, old serial number, maybe it's worth a chance someday to see if it would bump up a tad..

I'll keep this a rolling along, was just waiting for something to actually show up in the mail!...

Thanks Don!, got part of it resolved, was really surprised on the US Post office, did a claim on the insured packed, took all of 8 days total for them to agree, and about 2 days later, got a check in the mail...So, other than the "big" loss, I'm still going, just taking a bit of a breather on the collection, but love reading thru these posts...

How many of you '59 collectors also collect Venezuela Topps cards as a complement to your '59 collection? I have a partial set going for the fun of it.

Don---I do not collect them but do have at least one from 1959, 1960, 1962, 1964, 1966, 1967 and 1968 to display with my sets for those years. I have thought about but have not yet tried to get one of the stickers for 1972 and 1977 since they seem to be in the same format as their counterparts in the Topps sets. How hard are the stickers to get and am I right that for other years the designs are at least somewhat different from the Topps sets ?

They are sweet, but talk about a tough set to put together!...Just funding that set is a small fortune (but well worth it!)...I finally added a few more into my 59 set, getting replacements on a few more 6's...think I'm down to around 54 (although I'm hesitant on big dollars for some of those!)...
