Wooden seats can me sliced up just like bats. A few years ago when these parks went bye bye, the card companies must
of walked out with enough seat material to use for years! This insert sets has been in heritage since 01.

That Robinson card is a beauty. I really think that the high end cards in this set will go high, there will be more than one
person doing a "master" set...thats every single card. The real one autos are just plain TOUGH to pull, lets hope that
real heritage collectors realize this and not put them up on ebay with stupid 20 dollar buy it nows!

I can't wait to see some retail case busts and see what they have to offer. I think in the retail world, what is on the back of the pack
can differ quite a bit from whats actually pulled out of packs. 05 heritage football was like this.

Anyone remember those blister boxes a few years ago, where each pack had all short prints in it? Those need to crop up again!

    JS
  • I like the Seat Relics I complete the run each year. The nostalgia for me is great, especially with the old NY ballparks , I often wonder if my great grandfathers, grandfthers or dad ever sat in one of those seats. Pretty cool.

I busted a couple of hobby cases nothing spectacular, I really wanted an uncut Gordon rc . I have a retail case in the mix other than that I guess I'll be laying down some serious coin for one .

    Box 2 of 4.....

    Identical to the first box:

    12 SP's
    2 Flashbacks
    3 Chrome
    1 Chrome refractor
    2 NAP
    1 Then and Now
    1 Clubhouse collection relic

No autos, which I honestly don't expect. This box would rate slightly better than the first only because the SP's were better (Pujols, Piazza, etc.) and so were the chromes (Clemens, Duke, Blalock). No doubles on any of the inserts through two boxes either.

Box three coming up later tonight.

    shawn
Also, do we or don't we have a definitive list of all sp's and rookies somewhere I can print out??
  • KnopflerKnopfler Posts: 783 ✭✭✭
Are the SP's/insert card always the second from the last card in the pack again this year?
  • fourth from the last is the sp/insert.

Its odd, I have been pulling only 11 SP's a box. Also, there are no SP's in the packs with checklists in them.hmmm

No cards at my local Walmart as of this afternoon. This is the 1st year for me doing a Heritage set (I'm also building a raw '57 set) . 1 Retail case coming from GCX, soon I hope.

  • I'm building the 1957 set too and it's a toughie. I did the 58s and that was so much easier. Magellan, I have plenty of doubles if you want to make a trade.

Pharber, I'm about 1/2 way through my set and have only about a dozen dupes right now.......they'd grade VG-EX to EX-MT for a range. I'm certainly up for trades , are you collecting anything else currently? PM me

I have done the set gentlemen.....AND ITS WORTH IT!!!! the 58's are something im thinking about.... THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THEN THE 1958 Multi-Player Cards!!!!!!!

  • I had over 200 doubles in the 1958 set and I've been dumping them on EBay at 1.49 BIN price. It's a fun set and I'm going to write Topps and suggest a checklist, what players should be what numbers.

I just picked up 2 boxes locally. I'm going to be teaching my 8 yr son how to build sets (he is a baseball fan and probably knows a lot more modern players than I do).

Last year, the 2 boxes of Heritage I bought were the first modern cards I had bought since 1989. Nearly all of those cards got thrown in a big box in my son's room, plus I sold the handful of the shiny sh!t cards on ebay for a few bucks. But this year is different, for obvious reasons.

<< <i>Its odd, I have been pulling only 11 SP's a box. Also, there are no SP's in the packs with checklists in them.hmmm

    Kevin >>

It was the same last year, if you got a checklist you got no sp/insert/chrome, at least in the packs I bought.
  • Ok,I just bought my annual 3 packs of Heritage. I know you all have been waiting for this.

Got some good Cubs, 1 sp (Castro), and a Now and Then with Musial and Derrick Lee.

I also got the first ever sliced piece of anything card I have ever gotten. Its the piece of bat card by Derrick Lee. At least it was a Cub.

My only complaint about the cards I got were that 98% of them looked like spring training poses....nothing with season play stadiums in them.

    Oh well, thats done image

Just wanted to let you all know that I found 2 24 pack boxes at my local Target tonight. No sign of the blaster boxes yet but they can't be far behind.

Are any of you silly enough to check EVERY card in the pack to make SURE no SP's are where they are not supposed to be? This is why it is taking me forever to rip my case.

My third box was gross, three chromes, no refractors, only 11 SP's instead of 12, and again.........no auto.

One box left, I think I can tell you what's in it before I open it.

11-12 sp's, 1 then and now, 2 nap's, 2 fb's, and a relic card of a no name guy (sin choo and barmes in two of my boxes).

I'm down to hoping my sp's aren't doubles. A little disappointed.

    Hey Dan

Isn't it amazing how you can open a case and no autos.

Then someone reports buying a handful of packs at Wallyworld and shows a scan of Robinson!

My favorite is the person who got ONE pack of hobby for Christmas and pulled the Nixon 1/1!!!!!

Whoever said the fault lies not in the stars but in ourselves? Never tried opening a case of Heritage! image

    Good luck!
I can't believe how hard it is to complete a master!

I missed the UPS man today - OOF! The retail cases from GCX have shipped, so expect vendors to stock retail outlets next week. I'm really hoping I don't have to wait all weekend to pick my case up from UPS.

Blaster box is a retai box of cards...8 packs plus a whole lot of styrphome (sp?)

Heritage collectors like them becuase they don't cost a whole lot and are pack feeler scum proof. (always check the wrapping for the topps
    logo)

I went for the 20 minute drive to the nearest super walmart. No heritage, but I did land a Killebrew auto jersey out of 05 Elite!!

Anyone seen anything odd from this years product? Last year all the talk was the light backs....guys are already completing their
sets. I feel a little cheated here! Hopefully the reatil boxes will provide some excitment.

1: Dan - PM sent regarding a trade

2: Went to two Wal Marts and two Targets within 20 minutes driving distance. No Heritage to be found - may check this weekend, but I don't think the distributors roll like that. Will start checking in earnest on Monday.

3: Ryan - sorted my SPs and got your cards pulled. Three or so of them aren't centered all that well - all copies of those cards were equally off-centered. Just wanted to give you a heads up on that.

4: My neck is starting to hurt. Got both cases separated into 1-99, 100-199, 200-299, 300-399, 400-485. Have my master set sorted thru #129. Slow, tedious work. And fun!!

    Geordie

  • Sorting is the tricky part. Once I found out what the short prints were I took two 3200-count card boxes and divided each row into five sections, seperating them with the cheap "Cardsaver" plastic card holders (I taped them into place). Then I went to the printer and printed labels 1-9, 10-19, 20-29, and slipped them into the top of the cardsavers.

As I opened packs, I'd toss the cards into the appropriate cubbie holes. It was a pain in the neck because you wanted to rip packs a lot more than you wanted to sort. But it paid off in the end because in a matter of 1-2 hours after I finished ripping two cases, I could put together four, five base sets.

Two 3200-count boxes work just right. The first one is perfect. You get to 200. But in the second box it is funky once you get to the SP gap. But it works. My left over cards are in the boxes right now and when my third case finally arrives, it won't take took long for the dreaded sorting.

  • The 4 boxes I ordered got in last night and set on the steps all night image

Anyway results of the 1st box

1 blue ink auto nelson king
    3 chromes
    2 new age players
    2 now & then

Will be busting the other later in the day

I also sort by 100's 0-99 100-199 etc..... After that I sort them by using a telephone model...thats a 3X3 box with 0-9 to the left of the
    tens.

I can sort pretty fast like this. I still have t put all my sp's into penny sleeves before they go into the set

My last box was even worse. No refractor, no game used, no auto, etc.

Oh well, it was a blast. I'll be buying a couple at Walmart or Target and seeing how close I can get from there. I am still a lot of SP's short as you can imagine.

Anyone doing the chrome set?? If not, I'll probably get mine up on eBay soon as they seem to be selling pretty well.

    Geordie,

    I'd do whatever is fair.

I mean, I wouldn't expect you to give me, say, an Arod SP for my Victor Martinez Chrome.
On the other hand, I wouldn't want to give you, say, my Clemens chrome for a Ray Durham SP.

I'm sure we could work something out. I've only opened four boxes so far, so I have about a dozen chromes and a couple refractors. Also a couple game used and a seat card, etc.

Shoot me a PM, I'd work something out.

edited to say: I see from my PM archives we made a trade or two last year too.

  • I'm still in the process of cracking my case (and I bought two hobby boxes before my case arrived), I think I've done pretty well so far, best pull is a Snider blue auto. I've been getting about the same breakdown as others have posted, and by the looks of it, I'll need to make some deals to complete a master set. I'd like to trade some SPs and Chrome/others with other members of the board, I'll post what I need shortly. (I realise I'm new to the boards, but my E-Bay ID is the same as my ID here for reference.) I think I have my PM turned on, but I'm not the most technically literate guy in the world, so if you try to send one and it doesn't work - apologies in advance. This is my first year into Heritage, and it's a blast - looking forward to the trading part!
