I got almost all of the 9's for $2.50 each with the most expensive one being $4.99! I figured I couldnt beat it being dirt cheap and good set fillers. Some could be resubbed easily to 10's. The Beckett and PGA will be crack outs. I must add I am impressed with the quality of the PGA card ( better graded then the Beckett card )
This arrived yesterday...not a card, but a real nice family shot of Thurman......5x7, nice paper stock, not some cheap computer print out. The photo looks much nicer in person.

nice coop. one of may fav players from the Brew Crew of the 80's. He was smooth with the stick. Too bad he just doenst have the total stats to get in to the HOF. In my mind he belongs.

I was at the local Wal-Mart on my lunch break, picking up a few odds and ends.... Like a moth to a flame, I swing by the card section....
Normally, I don't touch the retail stuff, but there was a minty-fresh box of 2006 Topps FB Rack Packs. If you aren't "in the know"... The rack packs have 3 "Vintage" cards in each one. And usually, by "vintage" Topps means "1990." Anyway, I grabbed three packs that had decent rookies (Leinart, Young and Addai) just for giggles.
Of course, my vintage was 1989 Topps Traded. Ooooooh, look! Lorenzo White!
But, to my surprise, my first pack held a very nice RC of a Denver safety whose name includes a "forbidden word". He is perhaps a borderline eventual HOFer. He was a fan favorite with the Broncos, had a long career, and was one of the guys who paved the way for the "heavy hitters" like John Lynch and Rodney Harrison.
The second pack had some fine stars of 1989 including Irv Pankey, and Andy Heck.
So, you can imagine my surprise when I see this in the third pack!
Yeah, I know it's not worth a fortune, but believe it or not, I actually didn't have this card.
I recently bought a set of 1951 Topps Magic football cards. It's a mid-grade set, and there are no big names, but it's been fun looking through it. I also learned a few college nicknames I didn't know before, such as the Lehigh Engineers. Here's a link to the whole set.
I have a few of those Monsters of the Gridiron cards around here somewhere. I had probably 8 to 10 of them including Emmitt if I remember right. Funny cards!

yawie, I'm always impressed at the scope of your vintage card collection. That C56 looks great, the creases don't detract from the image.
mcholke, Nice Reds collection. The 3-D Perez is great. I really like the '76 LCS and WS cards. Hard to believe the Big Red Machine won back to back WS 30 years ago.
Sting, Nice hockey. Are you splitting time between the hockey and baseball sets?
I am trying to decide on what to do here. The hockey set is a nice small one, though I am sure not all cards have even been graded, but I can go a slow enough pace that I would not have to start doing my own grading for awhile. Now that football season is here I have really been debating between 83 or 87 Topps set.
That 3D Perez is a great card! CONGRATS - What a tough card to find. I saw that in the Mastro auction as soon as I got the catalog. I browse through it as soon as it comes to see what Reds items are there. It was one of the auctions I was watching.
I've been cleaning-up my home-office, moving a ton of boxes, paperwork, etc. (i.e., junk!). And look what I found in a small box hidden in the corner of my room?
16 cards in a small box and I don't have a clue how long they've been sitting there? Spending a few moments and re-visiting those 16 items, remined me of why I still luv collecting!
That brief feeling of excitement, revisiting 16 "newly discovered" items all over again!

Yes, there were several shinny pennies used to acquire the Perez 3-D. I picked it up in the recent Mastro auction.
