That Hostess Ryan/Smith/Coleman uncut piece is beautiful! Dam, someone had steady nerves and a great eye to cut it that sweet. I love those Hostess cards, I used to make my parents by them just so I could have the cards. And the junk food inside wasn't too bad either!
I always like those too. I wonder if the size and the lack of protective holders back then caused many of these cards to be banged up? Of course, there's probably an ocean liner's worth of wax out there so maybe it doesn't matter.
I found some of the basketball versions of those the other day with a Webber RC. I had no idea PSA graded 'em.

Only if I had won the Emmitt I bid on in this same set
Have ya got a scan of the back - which version you have?
Steve, I like the Sanella set. I have a complete album put away -somewhere. Some day I will read that book... Right after I pass a German Language course.
Picked up about a dozen T206's over the last week or two. Here's a couple of my favorites. I know qualifiers are generally shunned, but I love miscut T206's:
Eight years ago when I joined OBC, I was mainly after Dodger teams sets from '66 on up. Over the years, I branched out into all the Bowman Dodgers (done!) and all other Topps years, with the exception of 1952. I figured that since half the team set was high numbers, including Jackie, Campy and Pee Wee, and the Pafko was also very expensive, I'd never ever be able to realize that pie-in-the-sky dream.
So I go to this year's Anaheim National with a lot of stuff to find, along with a goal to bring home one of the big four. Mission accomplished; see the Pafko below. Pee Wee showed up on on the Bay for a price I was willing to pay - he arrived a couple weeks ago. Today the Campy arrived! Woo hoo! Only the Jackie to go, then a bunch of other high numbers - they'll be much more obtainable, and fairly cheap since I only go for low grade stuff. I think I might actually be able to put this set to bed someday!
<< <i>Have ya got a scan of the back - which version you have? >>
I scanned it but forgot to post it in my original post.
Is this the most common version? I have at least 2 different type backs in the set.
>>
Ted
Yes, this is the most common type 2; the type 3 is the same except, it has the page number 83 of the accompanying album mentioned on the line immediately above "Handbuch des Sports" near the top. Type 1 has the name nearly in the middle of the card.
Values:
type 1 Ruth (centered name) - 325$ Nm type 2 Ruth (bottom) - 225$ Nm type 3 Ruth (bottom w/83 near top) - 500$ Nm
Just arived today..I posted in the "postcard" thread but thought I'd post here too. Frank Robinson from his rookie year..AND the only one graded to date!!!
My favorite cards have to be the Gwynn and Glavine rookies.
I am very happy with the "10" on the AFLAC Chrome Volstad and Zumaya (Gold) since both are very condition sensitive. The edges on the AFLAC chrome cards are really tough!

Thanks for all the info Mike! That clears up alot of questions I had about the set.
Hoof,
Sweet set you got there! My best friend just gave me that set a few months ago. I had forgot I had it until you posted your pics. He said they are not real valuable, but there are some cool cards and HOF'ers in the set.

Tedw, I just looked it up and I paid $5.70 delivered for the set (from "rcpacks" in "PSL Florida" -- wherever that is). There is a centering issue with a lot of the cards, but they all have sharp corners and have been well-cared for...

Oh, but it's lacking that that highly-soughtafter eye appeal.
What a crock.
Great cards, fellas!
Thanks.
It will be my boys' someday!

Tenace is AWESOME.
Interesting how many of the '76's were taken either in Oakland or San Francisco.
The Ryan and Munson are both really cool poses, arguably better than any of their Topps ones of that era.
Too much stuff to comment on other than to say - way to go!!!!
But, I must put out a special wow to rd on his 76T set!! BTW, I have the Aaron on my 76T sheet - I could probably cut ya out a 10?
He's on the very corner of the sheet - might be one of the reasons it's hard to find it in a 10?
Incredible!

Great Cobb piece! Any Cobb card is a good Cobb card.
I just picked up this card along with the rest of the set. I think I got a pretty good deal on it.
