Divechia- I just got 4 cards signed by Ryan... all 2005 Turkey Reds (3 Gray, 1 Red). I don't know if you have any interest in them but I just put them up on my site for sale along with some PSA Ryans-
Thanks, I just decided that instead of having all the junk I had, I would sell it off and just focus on the pieces that I really, really wanted which is basically all Cobb, my favorite player of all time. I've been looking for one of these for a long time. Since there are only 11 of them and 5 are basically off the market in big time collections, they don't come around every day.
<< <i>Bullpen,
That Cobb is truly incredible! Well I'm casting a vote for Bullpens Cobb to appear in next years PSA calendar! >>
Wow! That Cobb is a real treasure! Even if he was a major league jerk (no pun intended), I'd still be proud to own that one.
A mere 12 years after it came out, I finally got around to watching the movie "Cobb" over the weekend. I'm sure there was a lot of dramatic license with the movie versus real events, but I think it's safe to say ol' Ty had some real psychological/emotional issues. Not a guy I'd wanna hang with, but I bet he was fun to watch play the game.
Thanks for all of the kind words about my new card. I am really happy with the acquistion. I don't know how long I'll hold it, we'll see where the market goes. Right now I plan to hold it forever, but I've said that before on other stuff and the values just got too good to hold any longer.
The thing for me that seperates Cobb from everyone else is actually not what he did on the field but his life after baseball. Great lesson for everyone I think. Here is a guy who earned dirt while playing ball, had to live in the shadows of a lot of other players of the time and was hated by even his own home fans, but he never let it stop him from competing and winning. He went on to use baseball to his full advantage and made more money out of the uniform than in it.
I just respect that level of fierce competitiveness and unwillingness to let failure be an option.
Here is one of many cards to arrive over the past few weeks. This is from my favorite modern set and is a 1/1 in a 10. I'm nearing the halfway point on completion but due to the print runs on some of the cards I doub't I'll ever have it at 100%.
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards
halosfan- Do you submit those game used cards or buy them graded? It is a crapshoot buying those cards online because you can never tell the condition. If you purchased raw, you have a great eye.
Great stuff as always guys. I had a couple nice packages from DSL today. Inside were these Gems....
The addition of these 3 71's to my registry set put me over the hump and into sole possession of 1st place on the All Time list. (Finally!) I had been stuck in a tie with "Pucks Of Color" for the last three weeks or so. Now to finish he set.

These 4 72's were in a seperate package also from DSL.....
1/5 no tens. This is one of the harder commons in the set. I've personally sent in 4 or 5 examples, never pulling higher than an 8.
But, I especially like the action shot on the Glennie card. Which do you like better on the 72 set - the cards with portraits, fake poses or the true action shots? I'm partial to IA cards from sets that have them as a subset.
I prefer the portraits over the action shots in the 72 set. If they used better photos for the action shots maybe I would appreciate them more. Personally I think the Glennie is one of the ugliest cards in the set along with some of the other action shots like the Stanfield and the playoff cards. I think I'm just partial to bright vibrant cards as I really like the sets with the colorful backgrounds (67, 70, 71, 72). I do like the action shots in the modern sets, again that may be because the photography is better and brighter.
OT - Mike, I enjoy posting my new hockey pick-ups here because the guys and yourself appreciate cards so much. I also enjoy your personalized mini-reviews after most posts....but please can you start calling me Bob instead of Only?!
And thanx for the kind words about the people here who participate and encourage others with their passion!
You have the best hockey! I know what you mean about the action shots - but I still like them since it captures the sport - I, too, also like the portraits - that's why I'm partial to sets that have both - a portrait and IA cards of the better players.
CardCore Ya did good - a little crooked but not too bad. Very nice Emitt card also.
Kudos to Mike as well. He's become the MC for this thread and it is like a little museum. It is one of the few threads that embraces non-card collectibles. Hopefully my postcard purchases are appreciated. I can't wait until Mike pays off that credit card bill. I do miss the Mantle exhibit photo at the beginning of the thread. It was like home base; now all I get is the red X.
Nice! Where did you get it, if you don't mind me asking?
Looking for Jonny Gomes cards, especially Triple Threads and printing plates. Will consider all cards, though. Got something? Contact me at c_u_l_1@yahoo.com

That Cobb is awesome. Is that from an auction house? I agree with Julen. That card will be a pickup when I win the lottery.
yes, I bought it last week from 707Sportscards.
