I was originally going to comment to the OP not to handle it too much as I do agree with 291fifth and it may well be plated/coated in mercury, and to use caution as low-level, long-term exposure can cause irritability, and personality changes.

Now, upon reflection, perhaps that advice is much too late.

Yeah, that's the cause. Mercury intoxication. My attitude has absolutely nothing to do with being attacked and trolled 15 on 1. Funny thing is, I would accept those odds on the street, where it really counts, just as quickly as I do here where it really doesn't matter because it's just a bunch of keyboard warriors piling on remotely. Would you?

Speaking of the number 15, you should reread the first 15 replies you received. Each one offered an honest opinion and answer, without any attacking or trolling, whatsoever. But apparently, you didn’t like or accept what you heard.

Yes. I accepted and appreciated the question and RESPECTFULLY CIVIL answer first 15 or so posts. And then the trolling and memes and name calling began from out of the blue with no provocation from me.

Again, you avoided the question when you wrote, "DONE!" in reference to me. What did you do? Curious.

He flagged your offensive posts for the moderators. There are rules on the forum. Sexual comments about someone's mother are generally not tolerated.

Why didn't he answer? No guts, no glory, or something like that? And he works for Heritage yet hides like a small, scared child when someone asks him a direct question about what he meant after sticking his 2 cents in? Why am I not the least bit surprised?

Most people don't sit here all day responding to random posts. Most of us know that there is little point in responding to threads such as you've created here. It is wisdom rather than cowardice that keeps people away.

Let me know when your shovel gets worn out. I wouldn't want you to stop digging.

You're mistaken. See. You aren't quite living up to your self-perception of God-like omniscience, you do NOT know everything. He was here. He just chose not to respond, as I said, like a small child hiding under the bed or in this case, an ostrich with his head buried in the sand, once he read about consignments and thought, "uh-oh, who is this guy?".

It's understandable. He was being a snitch. Ratting someone out, and he didn't want to own up to it, like most informants. And as previously stated, tens of thousands of dollars in consignor revenue generated for Heritage for items sold for my brother and some of which were mine.

Ask him to guess when the next time that will happen.

For some odd reason, y'all think that if someone doesn't know much about numismatics they don't know much about any other collectibles, or a anything else at all for that matter and the uninitiated should genuflect or be badgered as I have been here.
I've never quite seen such rampant egocentricity like this anywhere before. It's fascinating really, this warped and narrow collective mindset of coin collectors!

His sole purpose is to try and take one down down to his level. It’s a miserable place to be and the only reason I’m entertaining/exorcising the little bambino is to watch him squirm around and spew hate. He knows his op question was a sham and now he’s said enough that we all know his purpose.

    Just curious. You state that:

    1) I'm little.
    2) I have man-boobs
    3) I have a man-bun
    etc., etc.

Not knowing WHO the F I am, how could you know ANYTHING about what I look like? Do you really think you're God? If we could meet up, I could quickly dispel that God-complex of yours by making you my bee-yatch. And you could bet on that. I'm willing to demonstrate to you that you're not God, in person, if you would care for a moment of clarity.

Interesting that YOU are the one that started and then lead the attack on me from the very beginning of the thread. YOU're the one who started with the insults.

And I understand. It's the PERCEIVED anonymity that you THINK you have on the internet. What you don't realize is that given the countless thousands of posts you've made on the internet under the same user name, here and elsewhere, if someone you've gone out of your way to antagonize and make enemies with decided to take it offline into the real world, just based on the information you've unwittingly shared, a little piece here, a little clue there, in those thousands of posts, they could EASILY identify you, it is NOT as difficult or as daunting a task as you would like to think. Consider this when you decide to act out and deliberately start a war with unknown parties that you may be seriously underestimating.

Because someone may not know that much about coins doesn't necessarily mean that they are woefully ignorant in all other areas as well.

I would have answered your question, but see someone else already did so.
However, if I’d wanted to avoid owning up to “ratting someone out” it would have been quite easy.
I wouldn’t have posted “Done, as I did for the other post.” in reply to another poster who wrote “I’ve already flagged an earlier inappropriate post of his. Does someone want to handle this one?”

He seems to think it's very important to make sure that everyone understands how important he is and how much everyone should regret their behavior. 🙄🙄🙄

Good luck with that. Let a lawyer peruse that FACTUAL cautionary statement of internet common sense for evidence of a threat.

But see, since my posting that he stopped trolling. Maybe it dawned on him that his course of action is unwise. He's thinking, "Oh no. Maybe there's connections in my tens of thousands of internet posts to my user name here! To any and all social media platforms, some of which can easily identify me. I better not rile up people whose capabilities and level of treachery are unknown". And that's the SMART way to approach internet posting.

It would be wise for him to think that way. "I should THINK before posting. Would I say that to this guy if he was right in the room with me and he knew exactly who I was?".

This is a huge problem on the net. People say things to others that they never would in person.

Luckily, I have no intention of finding out who he is, but the next time he starts in with someone, it may not be with someone of my thinking.

You had the premier expert in error coins post a thoughtful, correct and respectful response and you dismissed it.

Imagine going on a basketball forum, asking for advice and when Curry or Coach K give advice, you dismiss it and troll them. This is a hobby where regular folks have access to experts who have dedicated their life work to numismatics and have decades of experience at grading companies, as dealers, at auction companies and as researchers.

I’m sorry you didn’t like or understand the answer. When you started insulting the experts, others began responding in kind. That’s the internet and to be expected.

You obviously didn't read posts of gratitude. They are there. All you have to do is look rather than assume. And again, should I be thanking the ones who told me to go F*** myself?

2 or 3 folks helped. The rest only badgered and ridiculed. And the badgering continues. I'm just replying to notifications of unpleasantries.

    Nope.

I would check the validity of that statement if you hadn't essentially deleted your first 9 posts. I find it hard to believe that someone would feel enough regret to delete a thank-you message after sending it.

You obviously didn't read posts of gratitude. They are there. All you have to do is look rather than assume. And again, should I be thanking the ones who told me to go F*** myself?

2 or 3 folks helped. The rest only badgered and ridiculed.

Would you be ever so kind as to point at one example of that being posted please.

And I DID thank the ones who actually helped. I did not thank the ones who told me to go pound sand, which was 99.9% of the malcontents here.

REALLY? How did I "insult" an expert by asking follow-up questions clarifying that the penny was undersized and NOT of normal, perfectly circular shape so weight would likely be a moot point since the penny was halfway between the thickness of a dime and a normal cent?

Treat them with respect instead of contempt. I know Heritage is wildly successful, But there's always room for improvement. It starts with attitude.

At your age, I would worry more about enjoying a beautiful day outside and taking every second of it in, nothing beneath your notice rather than fritter it away here, worried about quote chains, quatrains, Mark Twain, and how they relate to me, Doc.

As you're a medical professional, I shouldn't have to explain this to you, but if I could write you an Rx, that would be your prescription for today. Enjoy it while you can because it may not be here tomorrow.

    This thing is still alive?

    Until Monday. :*

Usually a random "error find" OP gives up after a bit. This one is really taking a stand against imaginary enemies.

He seems to think it's very important to make sure that everyone understands how important he is and how much everyone should regret their behavior. 🙄🙄🙄

Even to the point of making veiled threats:

“ And I understand. Consider this when you decide to act out and deliberately start a war with unknown parties that you may be seriously underestimating.”

Not that it matters because you'll be banned Monday morning and this thread will be deleted but..

Many of your comments are regarding how posters are "hiding behind keyboards". I'm sure you're not aware but many of us know each other in real life and, in many cases, have known each other for decades. For the regular posters on here, there is at most 2 degrees of separation for every single person in real life. We trust each other with tens of thousands of dollars on our word on a regular basis and see each other somewhat frequently.

You are anonymous and spouting off. Who knows if what you're saying is true, embellished, fabricated, whatever. And it doesn't matter because it will all be gone. Enjoy yourself for the next ~44 hours.

Why would someone feel that being banned from 1 forum out of the countless of millions of message boards on the internet is the end of the world, a punishment that is more than one can bear? It's mind-boggling and disturbing that a segment of people actually think that way with such a horridly skewed system of belief in what's important.

I'm well read. Being well-educated is an issue here too?
At your age, I would worry more about enjoying a beautiful day outside and taking every second of it in, nothing beneath your notice rather than fritter it away here, worried about quote chains, quatrains, Mark Twain, and how they relate to me, Doc.

As you're a medical professional, I shouldn't have to explain this to you, but if I could write you an Rx, that would be your prescription for today. Enjoy it while you can because it may not be here tomorrow.

Good point. I just signed up for square dance lessons at the Livermore rec center.

I wanted you and others to know I’d flagged your posts. I’m surprised that you didn’t understand what I wrote.

I asked YOU, you ducked the question, and someone else came to your rescue like a damsel in distress and answered it for you.

Consider this when you decide to act out and deliberately start a war with unknown parties that you may be seriously underestimating.”

I don't know any of you, nor would I want to after experiencing what a bunch of arrogant, hostile narcissists are among you, automatically superior in every way imaginable to anyone who has the audacity to ask questions about coins here.

There should be a warning in the banner, "If you ask a question, be prepared to be ridiculed". That would be far more straightforward and a warning to all that they are unwelcome. That would save time, no?

I bought a crappy Morgan. The members told me that it was no good. Other members researched the seller and informed be that the description in the offer was bogus, and that eBay would back me.
None of these guys charged me for their expertise and time. I thanked them.
    That’s how it works here.

That was your experience but it didn't work out like that for me, you know the old saying, "Your experience and result may vary"?

Were you ridiculed and trolled soon after you asked your question? Would you have "thanked them" if you were?

And I DID thank the ones who actually helped. I did not thank the ones who told me to go pound sand, which was 99.9% of the malcontents here.

Bambino, you and I exposed ourselves when we posted questionable coins. I did not dispute the replies.
You cannot defend an opinion of the coin without providing the weight. Does the coin stick to a magnet?
    Haven’t heard.
When discussion leaves the coin reason goes off too.

There are many threads like this. They’re funny as hell when they’re not mine.

I didn't make the coin. I found it. I didn't try to foist it on anyone or even suggest a sales agenda. I asked for help and was immediately attacked for it. If that's the gist of this forum, just tell people to go elsewhere if seeking help right in the banner. Saves time.

Too bad there isn't a feature like that to use to wipe out your entire existence, inception to present! I'll bet it would be of tremendous value to the people forced to be around you. :)

That was a brand new user's first thread/post. A very inexperienced collector with very basic questions. He joined a week ago. All of the same posters but a vastly different result. Here's the next thread:

Everything is going fine and it's a respectful dialogue. The only variable that has changed and led to this s*** show is you.

Dear God, why would we want them? They were no fun the first time. 🤣

  • @Bambino1
After looking at your previous posts (from when you first joined) your first topic was posted in the sports forum and that went far better then this (as the dialogue didn't devolve in to name calling and insults form you) but they both basically started for the same reason and should have ended the same way (That is the question being answered) and they almost did as most said that the cent was plated but you disagreed and here we are. So, where did the hostility come from?
