What is going on with these coaches and not calling timeout with 30-40 seconds left in the half/game when they are driving with the ball?? I saw it like three times this week where the offense tried to ‘hurry’ after a pass caught inbounds instead of the coach just calling a timeout.
Is there some secret analytics thing going on where teams want to minimize their chance of scoring?

Terrible clock management. The falcons at the end of the first half had around 26 seconds left and 3 timeouts and let the clock run. On top of that a rookie QB who just became the starter, for crying out loud use a timeout!
Wow the Falcons really deserved to lose that game. Is Raheem Morris just unaware you can use timeouts in overtime???
He did understand that if his team stopped Washington and forced a field goal his team needed time to drive down and at least try and match the field goal, right?
Honestly, if I were the owner I would just fire him. These coaches that fail at late game clock management and decision making without being incredible with the rest of the game are simply irredeemable.
I am not even a Falcons fan. I just can’t understand how these coaches can be so incompetent.

I ask the same thing when it comes to taking FG's, the Packers might have won if they took a FG early on last night but instead they lost and left an easy FG on the table.
Coaching is horrible all around with zero accountability
I haven't watched a complete NFL game since mid-season, I've taken to just watching the 10-15 minutes of highlights for most games. The trend I see in announcing is disappointing, instead of telling viewers what's happening on the field the announcers seem to be actively pulling for certain teams to win. That's OK with a local broadcast, but with a national audience the goal has always been unbiased. When and why does that seem to be changing??
I can’t understand how Saquon Barkley isn’t even in the MVP conversation when he’s over 2000 yards now. Granted it usually goes to a QB but Romo and Nantz and basically all the NFL network guys say it’s either Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson. I don’t think Romo even mentioned Saquon. And now I’ve heard talk Joe Burrow is in the running with the Bengals winning games now.
Both Saquon and Derrick Henry are averaging 5.8 yards per carry. Tremendous seasons for both. I’m sure a QB will win but I’m thinking Saquon especially deserves serious consideration.

I'd give the MVP to Lamar Jackson if it were up to me, I hate the Ravens but Lamar is lights out as far as stats go.
39 TD's to 4 int?
850 yards rushing with another 4 tds and almost 4k yards passing?
Lamar in my opinion
Allen’s #’s last year were way better than Jackson’s but Baltimore was 15-2 and Buffalo was 11-6. Now this year we’re going by #’s? Instead of value to favor Jackson? Allen is 19-3 in his last 22 games. He’s set all kinds of QB records this year. If he doesn’t win this year it’s only because of one thing and I won’t pull punches to say it

I always go by stats, as I said I hate the Ravens.
Allen is having a great season obviously and he is doing it without big name personnel, I thought he would suffer without Diggs and I was way wrong.
I'd be fine with Allen winning it but this year Lamar's stats are tough to beat.
for me the MVP boils down to what i can envision a certain team looking like without their candidate
and sans Josh Allen, i think the Bills would be much worse off. there is no Henry or Saquon to mitigate that loss. there's basically a bunch of middle-of-the-road skill position players whose play he himself has elevated
i suspect Buffalo would be floundering around .500, at best, without him
not to mention, Allen and his team are the only ones to beat Kansas City in the past calendar year

Regarding the Vikings game. I thought going for the 57 yard field goal was stupid on O'connell's part. Gives GB a very short field.
Game got way too close. Vikings defense pretty much dominated until the end.

He wont get it because of the Bengals record even though its not his fault their defense sucks, but Burrow should at the very least be in the conversation

Doesn't look like Allen's numbers were "way better" than Jackson's in 2023. We can interpret stats how we choose, but it looks like from an overall average perspective that Lamar Jackson was the MVP in 2023 because his play says he deserved it, not because his team won more games.
If we compare stats for the two outstanding QB's for this season thus far, they are very similar and still tend to favor Lamar Jackson. Either player could win the award and be deserving. In the whole scheme of things it doesn't really matter, neither player has been able to bring home the Lombardi Trophy. They are both still chasing Mahomes.

I’ll make a bold statement and stand behind it. If Barkley plays to get the rushing record the Giants will stack 8 guys on the line to make sure he doesn’t break the record against them. They may lose 50-0 but Barkley will get 37 yards in the first half

Philly is stupid to even think about playing him.
It's 17 games anyways, Dickerson did it in 16 and OJ 14
If I'm Barkley I'm saying I'm happy with 2000 yards, doing it with one more game than Dickerson to get the record tarnishes it in my opinion
Be logical, man, stop thinking like a Homer!! The only reason Josh Allen runs for TD's like he does is because the Bills running backs suck canal water. Josh Allen is their goal line rusher. The Ravens, on the other hand, have a bulldozer. You can argue this all you want, I realize you have this love affair with Josh Allen and I agree he's a great QB and may even win NFL MVP this year and would be deserving, I said that above if you read the post with an open mind.
If you want to argue your original premise, the one I highlighted and then de-bunked, fine. Otherwise, I have no time to waste. Stay safe and have a nice day. Good luck for the Bills in the playoffs, they'll need it.
If he(Josh Allen) doesn’t win this year it’s only because of one thing and I won’t pull punches to say it.
It is so obnoxious to say something like this especially when it is not even remotely true.
Personally I think Allen deserves the MVP because he has done more with less this season. The Bills surrounded him with mediocre WRs and he has thrived like elite QBs are supposed to. But if Lamar wins it that is understandable as well since he has also had an incredible season.

Cook has 15 rushing TD’s. You can’t make idiotic statements like this.
Allen had 15 rushing TD’s to Jackson’s 5 and his QBR was better last year.
Allen had the two NFL moments this year. Forth down TD to beat the Chiefs to ruin their perfect regular season and his throw and catch for a TD, diving in the snow.
No team has ever beaten two 14 win teams ever until Buffalo and because they have Josh Allen. MVP
W.C.Fields "I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
I saw that a few days ago, Pete should stay retired as Belichick probably should have. The older coaches like this strike me as doing it solely for the money. They have nothing to prove and not enough time to build/expand their legacy. But I guess that's how they're wired.

Yes, that's true.

Allen definitely has taken that team on his shoulders and carried them, looking at it that way I'd have to say it changes my opinion after all.
Lamar has Henry and far better receivers
Lamar is having an unreal. season regardless so either one is deserving but I guess after thinking it over Allen is more of an MVP to his team
